Movavi's Mac Video Editor, Video Converter and Screen Recorder in one bundle

Movavi Video Suite for Mac: Editor, Converter and Screen Recorder in One Launcher

Movavi Video Suite for Mac is a bundle of Movavi's video editor, video converter and screen recorder for Intel and Apple silicon Macs, sold at $99.95 a year (Video Suite Plus) or $29.95 a month. It's for Mac users who make YouTube videos, tutorials, family movies or social clips and want to record, cut and convert without juggling three separate apps or learning Final Cut Pro.

The usual situation: you record a screen demo, need to trim it, add captions and export it for a phone, and the file your camera made won't open in iMovie. The suite covers all of that from one launcher window.

Quick facts

  • Current version: Movavi Video Suite 27.0.0 for Mac, updated September 29, 2026
  • Developer: Movavi
  • Runs on: macOS 12 Monterey or later, on 64-bit Intel Macs and Apple M1 or later
  • What's inside: Video Editor, Video Converter and Screen Recorder, plus a media player and stock content, opened from one launcher
  • Price: $99.95 a year for Video Suite Plus, or $29.95 a month for Video Suite; $104.95 a year with Photo Editor for Mac added
  • Free trial: 7 days, with a "Trial" watermark on exported videos
  • Installer: a 3.6 MB online installer that downloads the suite (800 MB of disk space to install)

What we checked: the Mac download link on Movavi's Video Suite for Mac page (MovaviVideoSuiteSetup.dmg, 3,752,160 bytes, an online installer), the page's version data (27.0.0 for Mac, updated September 29, 2026), Movavi's Mac trial limits, and the prices on Movavi's order page, which shows the same plans for Mac and Windows with Mac-specific checkout links, all on October 31, 2026. We didn't edit or record a project with it ourselves.

Before you buy

  • You may only need the editor. Movavi Video Editor for Mac on its own is $54.95 a year and already records the screen and webcam from its import area. The suite is worth it when you also convert files often or want the full Screen Recorder with scheduling and drawing.
  • The trial is short and watermarked. You get 7 days, exported videos carry a "Trial" watermark, audio exports and audio conversions are cut to half their length, and SuperSpeed conversions only convert half the video. Plan a test project before you start the trial.
  • Extra effects cost extra. Movavi Effects and the full Movavi Templates library are separate subscriptions on top of the suite.
  • Mac and Windows are separate products. Video Suite for Mac is sold with its own Mac checkout, so buy the right platform.

Overview

Movavi Video Suite for Mac opens to a launcher. The Video tab holds tiles for each job: Edit Video (with New Project), Record computer screen, Capture from cameras, VHS, TV, converting and splitting video, and Watch video. Separate tabs hold audio, photo and data tools, and a Recent projects and files strip along the bottom reopens your last work. Each tile starts the matching program, so you work in the full editor, converter or recorder rather than in a cut-down version.

Features

A timeline editor with AI subtitles and silence removal

Movavi Video Suite's editor is the same Movavi Video Editor sold on its own. It works on a revamped timeline: add videos, photos and music, cut and split clips, rotate and crop, apply filters, join clips with transitions, add titles and record a voice-over. The AI tools do the slow jobs: one-click automatic subtitles in almost any language, silence removal that cuts pauses (or lets you set the pause length and volume threshold), AI background swap and noise removal, and an auto-crop that follows the speaker or product when you turn a horizontal clip into a vertical one.

Templates built from Blocks

Version 27 of Movavi Video Suite added templates made of Blocks: pre-edited segments with music, transitions and text already in place. You can use a template as it is, swap in your own clips, reorder its Blocks or build a video Block by Block, for birthdays, travel recaps, promos or lessons. A few templates come with the suite, and the full library is the separate Movavi Templates subscription.

A screen recorder with webcam, mic and system audio

Movavi Video Suite's Screen Recorder starts from the Record computer screen tile. You drag to select an area, click a window to record just that window, or press Space for the full screen, then switch the webcam, microphone and system audio on or off. A cogwheel setting reduces background noise, a timer stops the recording automatically, and default shortcuts (⌥⌘1 to pause, ⌥⌘2 to stop and save, ⌥⌘3 for a snapshot) keep your hands off the mouse. Mouse highlighting, keystroke display and drawing on the screen help with tutorials.

A converter for files that won't play

Movavi Video Suite's Video Converter changes video, audio and image formats and prepares files for phones, tablets and websites. When the source codec allows it, SuperSpeed mode converts without re-encoding, so long files finish quickly. It's the part of the suite that saves you when a camera, drone or screen recording produces a file another app won't accept.

Capture from cameras and old tapes

Movavi Video Suite for Mac also has a Capture from cameras, VHS, TV tile for recording from a connected camera or a capture device, the route for digitizing old home videos.

Benefits

  • One subscription instead of three. Recording, editing and converting are covered by one plan and one launcher.
  • Less cleanup time. Auto subtitles, silence removal and noise removal handle the jobs that take longest in a basic editor such as iMovie.
  • Easy to learn. Reviewers describe the editor as clean and quick to pick up, and the templates give beginners a finished-looking video on day one.

Real-World Uses

  • A software tutorial: record a window with your webcam and mic, then open the recording in the editor, cut the pauses with silence removal and add auto subtitles.
  • A family movie from old tapes: capture a VHS tape through a capture device, trim it in the editor and add titles and music.
  • Shorts from a long video: auto-crop a landscape clip to vertical while the subject stays centered, then export for each platform.
  • A file that won't open: convert a camera or drone clip to a format your other Mac apps accept.

Who It's For, and Who Should Skip It

Good fit: Mac users who've outgrown iMovie, YouTubers and teachers who record their screen and edit the result, and families digitizing and editing home video. It's especially handy if you regularly convert files as well as edit them.

Skip it if:

  • You only edit. Movavi Video Editor for Mac alone ($54.95 a year) costs less and can still record the screen.
  • You edit professionally. Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve offer deeper color, audio and multicam tools. Movavi doesn't accept third-party plugins.
  • You want to pay once and forget it. Movavi's subscriptions include updates; the lifetime licenses don't get new major versions.

Usage Guide

  1. Install: open the downloaded DMG and run the installer, which downloads the suite. You need administrator rights and about 800 MB of free disk space.
  2. Open the launcher: start Movavi Video Suite and go to the Video tab.
  3. Record: click Launch on the Record computer screen tile, select the area, switch on the webcam or mic if needed and click REC. Press ⌥⌘2 to stop and save.
  4. Edit: click New Project on the Edit Video tile, add your files, cut and arrange them, add transitions and titles, then click Export.
  5. Convert: open the converter from the Video tab, add files, pick a format or device preset and convert.

Tips

  • Set the language on first launch. TechRadar's reviewer found the app opened in Japanese; change it in the settings if that happens to you.
  • Use the low-resolution preview on older Macs. The editor can switch preview quality to keep playback smooth.

Where it falls short

  • Not a pro editor. Reviewers place it above iMovie but below Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro and Resolve, and it doesn't take third-party video or audio plugins.
  • Paid extras. Additional effects, music and the full template library are separate subscriptions.
  • Pricing complaints. Movavi's Trustpilot reviews are split, and the negative ones are mostly about the watermark, subscriptions and refunds rather than the editing tools.

What Users Say

Reviews of Movavi Video Suite and its editor are good on ease of use; the complaints are about pricing and extras.

TechRadar: 4.5 out of 5 for Movavi Video Suite (August 2025)

Steve Paris: "It's unlikely to trouble the likes of Premiere Pro and Resolve any time soon, but it's superior to the likes of Apple iMovie or ClipChamp." He was "really impressed" by the editor: "It's clean, simple, well organised, and gives you access to all the tools you need quickly and efficiently." He found the AI Tracker gave "excellent results with the user barely doing anything to make it work." His complaint: on first launch "everything was in Japanese."

Audiomentor: tested on an Apple silicon MacBook Pro (December 2021)

Reuben Chng installed the Mac version on an Apple Silicon MacBook Pro: "I've not encountered any crashes throughout the whole time of editing a video." On performance: "on my M1 Pro Macbook, I did not experience any performance drawbacks even when editing and previewing on high-resolution." He compared it to Apple's editor: "Movavi Video Suite feels like a little like Apple iMovie, only that it's a lot more 'beefed up'."

His cons: "Lacks professional video editing features.", "Do not accept 3rd party video or audio plugins." and "Have to purchase extra text, transition, and graphic effects." That review covers a much older version, which ran through Rosetta 2; today's suite runs natively on Apple silicon.

Digital Camera World on the editor (July 2026)

George Cairns rated Movavi Video Editor 4.25 out of 5. On noise removal: "One click on this tool's icon, and the background noise disappeared from Maryna's audio track, and her voice sounded much clearer too!" On subtitles: "It only took a few seconds for Movavi's AI-powered Auto subtitles tool to generate accurate subtitles from Maryna's interview and place them above the appropriate footage in the timeline." His criticism: "you do have to pay extra to access additional effects."

Trustpilot and Movavi's own ratings

Movavi as a company scored 3.5 out of 5 from 22,138 reviews on Trustpilot in October 2026, covering all its products on Windows and Mac, and Movavi's Mac Video Editor page shows a 4.8 out of 5 average from 1,127 reviews. Recent Trustpilot reviews, in their own words:

  • Graham Voss (5 stars, September 2026): "So easy to use, especially for a pensioner like me."
  • Mark Anderson (5 stars, September 2026): "I particularly like the effects and how easy it is to use."
  • Alexis Gagnon (1 star, October 2026): "had i known before working 8h+ on my video that i had to pay 60$ SIXTY DOLLARS to download it"
  • Valentin Mladinescu (3 stars, October 2026): "Dissapointed on the subscription model for payment."

The pattern: reviewers who test the tools like how clean and quick the editor is and how well the AI audio, subtitle and tracking tools work. The complaints are about the business side: the watermark discovered late, extra-cost effects and the subscription model. Use the 7-day trial on a real project before you pay.

Comparisons

Video Suite for Mac vs Movavi Video Editor for Mac

Movavi Video Editor for Mac ($54.95 a year) is the same editor without the separate converter and full screen recorder. Choose the editor alone if you only cut videos; choose Video Suite ($99.95 a year for Plus) if you also convert files or record tutorials regularly.

Video Suite for Mac vs iMovie

iMovie is free on every Mac and handles simple edits. Movavi Video Suite adds AI subtitles, silence and noise removal, templates, a screen recorder with webcam and a format converter. If iMovie already does what you need, keep it.

Conclusion

Movavi Video Suite for Mac is worth $99.95 a year if you record, edit and convert video regularly and want it all in one easy package. The editor is clean and quick to learn, its AI subtitles, silence removal and noise removal save real time, and the converter and screen recorder cover the jobs iMovie can't.

The main reason to hold back is cost: if you only edit, Movavi Video Editor for Mac does the editing for $54.95 a year, and extra effects cost more on top of either. Professionals will want Final Cut Pro or Resolve instead. Try the 7-day trial on a real project first, and cancel before it ends if it doesn't fit.
