Overview
Stellar Repair for Outlook looks like Outlook: a ribbon on top, a folder tree on the left, the message list in the middle and a reading pane on the right. When it starts, it offers to find the PST files of your Outlook profiles automatically, or you can browse to a file yourself, for example a PST copied off an old PC.
It scans the damaged file, rebuilds the mailbox in that Outlook-style view, and lets you check every folder and message before you save a fresh, working PST that Outlook can open. Stellar sells the same program in three editions: Professional (repair and save), Technician (adds Microsoft 365 and Exchange export, split and compact) and the 7-in-1 Toolkit.

Repairs PST files of any size, even encrypted ones
Stellar Repair for Outlook Professional has no file size cap, which matters because oversized PST files are a common cause of corruption. It also repairs encrypted and password-protected PSTs and recovers emails, attachments, contacts, calendars, tasks, notes and journals.

Save only what you need, in the format you need
Stellar Repair for Outlook Professional saves the whole mailbox as a new PST, or individual items as EML, MSG, RTF, HTML or PDF. Filters include or exclude items by email address or date range and can skip the Junk and Deleted Items folders. Find Message searches the recovered mailbox when you're after one particular email.
Save the scan and finish later
Stellar Repair for Outlook can save a scan to a DAT file and load it later to finish the repair without scanning again. That helps with a big, badly damaged PST, where the scan is the slow part.

The Professional edition fits individuals and small offices with one damaged PST to fix and Outlook already installed. It's the cheapest way to get Stellar's repair engine.
Skip it if your problem is an OST file (an Exchange or Microsoft 365 cache): that needs Stellar's OST converter, part of the Toolkit. Skip it too if you're moving the mailbox to Microsoft 365 or must split a huge PST, since those are Technician features. And if Outlook only complains about minor errors, run Microsoft's free ScanPST first: it may be all you need. It's Windows-only, so Mac Outlook users need a different tool.
Usage Guide
- Install and launch: run the 27 MB installer and open Stellar Repair for Outlook. Close Outlook and copy the damaged PST somewhere safe first.
- Select the PST: click Select Outlook Data File, then List Profiles to find Outlook's files, or Choose Manually to browse.
- Repair: start the scan. For a huge file, use Save Scan to stop and Load Scan to resume.
- Preview: browse the folders and open messages, contacts and calendar items. Deleted items are in red.
- Activate: enter the activation key from your order email on the Activation tab.
- Save: click Save Repaired File, choose PST (or EML, MSG, RTF, HTML, PDF), set any filters, and save to a drive with enough free space. Open the new PST in Outlook.
Where it falls short
- The trial saves nothing. You can see your mail but not keep any of it until you buy, which reviewers mention more than once.
- Saving needs Outlook installed. TechDirectArchive's review notes that saving the repaired file requires Microsoft Outlook on the same computer.
- Heavy on memory. Stellar asks for 8 GB of RAM and recommends 16 GB, more than many older PCs have.
- A subscription for a one-off job. The $79 license runs for a year and renews, even if you only needed one repair.
