What we checked: on October 14, 2026, Markzware's product page listed OmniMarkz SE at $719 for a perpetual Windows license and $469 a year for a subscription, and the free download link served the version 4.7.1 installer (OmniMarkzSE.v.4.7.1.2047.msi, 33.5 MB), the release dated October 1, 2026 in the release notes.
Before you buy
OmniMarkz SE writes IDML, and only IDML. To edit the result you still need a layout program that reads IDML: Adobe InDesign CS4 or later, Affinity Publisher, or QuarkXPress 2017 or newer. Expect to check every page after converting: fonts you don't have get substituted, and Markzware's own reviewers mention images that land slightly out of position in their frames. Overview
OmniMarkz SE combines three Markzware Windows tools, QXPMarkz SE (QuarkXPress), IDMarkz SE (InDesign) and PDFMarkz SE (PDF), in one stand-alone application, and the 2026 releases added Microsoft Publisher on top. It needs no plug-in and none of the original programs. You drop a file on its window, it writes an IDML file next to the original or in a folder you choose, and it can open the result straight away in the application you name.

Features
Microsoft Publisher files become editable layouts again
OmniMarkz SE converts Microsoft Publisher (.pub) documents to IDML, so a Publisher newsletter can be reopened in InDesign or Affinity Publisher. Support arrived in version 4.2.0 (April 2026), and the summer releases filled in the details: drop shadows, anchored boxes, guides, master page names, gradients, shapes, rounded picture corners, text language, and a "Scratch Area" layer for objects left off the page.
QuarkXPress, InDesign and PDF in one converter
OmniMarkz SE reads QuarkXPress 3 through 2026 and InDesign CS4 through 2026, plus PDF files, including PDFs made in Canva, CorelDRAW and Apple Pages, as PrintAction magazine points out. That covers the common moves: QuarkXPress to InDesign, InDesign to Affinity Publisher, PDF to InDesign, and a new InDesign file back to IDML for an older copy of InDesign. Conversion Center finds and batch-converts your files
The OmniMarkz SE Conversion Center (added in 4.5.6, July 2026) scans your PC for supported documents, then shows a summary of how many it found, scanned and can convert, broken down by type. From its dashboard you review the list, select files and convert them in one batch. It also runs in the free version, which makes it a quick way to size up a migration before buying anything.
A built-in MCP server for AI assistants
OmniMarkz SE 4.6.3 (August 2026) bundles a Model Context Protocol server, so compatible assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude and Cursor can inspect a document's pages, stories, fonts, colors and images, list missing or linked images, build inventories and request conversions in plain language. Results can be exported as MZJSON, Markzware's structured format. It's optional: the regular window works without any AI tool.
Lo-res previews for missing images
OmniMarkz SE can create low-resolution image previews for pictures whose originals are missing, or for every image, and link the converted layout to them. An old job whose image folder is long gone still opens with something visible in each frame, so you know which pictures to replace.
Windows Search can read your documents
Version 4.7.1 lets Windows Search find text inside supported documents while OmniMarkz SE is licensed, so you can search an archive of .pub, .indd and .qxp files by their words without opening each one. The same release fixed conversions of files with paths longer than 259 characters.
