Leawo HBO Max Downloader: Keep HBO Max Movies and Series for Offline Viewing
Leawo HBO Max Downloader, sold as CleverGet HBO Max Downloader, is a Windows and Mac tool that saves the movies and episodes you can play in your HBO Max account as MP4 or MKV files at up to 720p, with your choice of audio tracks and subtitles. A one-year license costs $59.95, a lifetime license $99.95, and the free trial downloads 3 videos.
HBO Max's own app only allows downloads on phones and tablets, and they expire. On a laptop you're limited to streaming. Leawo HBO Max Downloader turns what you stream on your computer into ordinary video files that stay until you delete them.

What we checked: CleverGet installer version 27.0.0.0 (485.7 MB) from Leawo's download link on October 22, 2026, and the one-year license at $59.95 on the order page on October 22, 2026, with the lifetime option at $40 more and a renewal price of $35.97 after the first year. Leawo's product status page listed HBO Max as "Working" at 720p the same day. We didn't download an HBO Max title ourselves, since that needs a subscription.
Before you buy
- 720p is the ceiling. Leawo HBO Max Downloader saves HBO Max videos at up to 720p, even when HBO Max streams a title in 1080p or 4K. That looks fine on a laptop or tablet but softer on a big TV.
- You need an active HBO Max subscription. It only downloads what you can already play while logged in.
- The one-year plan renews. The order page sets the one-year license to renew after 12 months, at $35.97 when we checked.
- Personal use only. Leawo's fair use policy allows downloads of videos you legally own, for your own needs. Sharing downloads is forbidden, and whether downloading is legal depends on your country's copyright law.

Overview
Leawo HBO Max Downloader runs inside CleverGet, Leawo's all-in-one video downloader, which has its own web browser. You open HBO Max in it, sign in with your account, and play a movie or episode. When it's playing, you click the download button: CleverGet reads the stream and opens a Download window listing every available stream with its resolution, bit rate and file size, plus menus for the format, audio and subtitles.
No browser extension is needed, and your HBO Max login happens in CleverGet's built-in browser. The HBO Max module is one of several dozen CleverGet modules (Netflix, Amazon, Disney+, Hulu and many more), each licensed and trialled separately.
Features
Movies, series, Originals and sports
Leawo HBO Max Downloader saves HBO Max movies, TV series, HBO Originals, sports videos and other titles your subscription includes, as MP4 or MKV files. The Download window shows the size of each stream before you start, so you know how much disk space an episode will take.
The Download window for a season 1 episode: five streams from 1280 x 720 (549 MB) down to 640 x 360 (130 MB), with Output MP4, Audio DD-5.1 English 386 kbps, Subtitle "en-us srt" and "Remux into file" checked.
Whole seasons in one batch
Leawo HBO Max Downloader finds all the seasons and episodes related to the video you're playing, so you can tick single episodes, a whole season or every season and add them to the download list at once.
Audio description, 5.1 audio and subtitles
Leawo HBO Max Downloader can keep the original or selected audio tracks, including audio description and multilingual tracks, and Dolby Digital 5.1 audio where HBO Max provides it. Subtitles can be remuxed into the video or saved separately as SRT or SUP files.
Resume, GPU acceleration and auto power-off
Leawo HBO Max Downloader resumes downloads interrupted by a dropped connection, uses GPU acceleration (NVIDIA CUDA, AMD APP or Intel Quick Sync) to speed things up, keeps each video's metadata, and can shut the computer down once the queue is done.
HBO Max open in CleverGet's browser, with the Library's video tab on the right listing three downloaded videos, each with an "Open Folder" link.
Benefits
- Offline on a computer. HBO Max's own downloads are for phones and tablets. This puts episodes on your laptop.
- No expiry. Files you save don't vanish after a set number of days.
- Plays anywhere. MP4 files play in any media player, on a TV from a USB stick or on a tablet.
- Accessibility kept. Audio description and subtitles you need come along in the file.
Real-World Uses
- Travel: queue a whole season before a trip and watch it on a laptop without in-flight Wi-Fi.
- Weak connections: download overnight with auto power-off, then watch without buffering.
- Language learning: keep a series with its subtitles as SRT files to read along.
- Kids' shows for the car: copy MP4 episodes to a tablet that never goes online.
Who It's For, and Who Should Skip It
Leawo HBO Max Downloader is for HBO Max subscribers who want offline copies on a Windows PC or Mac, where HBO Max offers no download option, and who are happy with 720p.
Skip it if picture quality matters most, for example watching on a large 4K TV, because 720p is the limit. If you only watch on a phone or tablet, HBO Max's own app downloads may be enough. And if you'll cancel HBO Max soon, keep in mind you need an active subscription to download anything.
Usage Guide
- Install: download CleverGet for Windows or Mac and install it. The HBO Max module is built in.
- Set the output folder: click the three-dot icon, open Settings, and under General choose the "Save Video To" folder.
- Find the video: open HBO Max inside CleverGet and log in, or paste a movie or episode URL into the address bar, then start playing it.
- Parse it: click the download icon at the bottom right. If a profile picker pops up, choose your profile and leave the window alone while CleverGet continues.
- Download: pick a stream, MP4 or MKV, the audio track and subtitle, and click Download. Finished files appear in the Library and your output folder.
Where it falls short
- Not full HD. 720p is the best you'll get, and titles above 720p are saved "with little quality loss," in Leawo's words, rather than at their original resolution.
- Breaks when HBO Max changes. A Trustpilot reviewer reported HBO downloads that came out "systematically quite shorter than the original" until Leawo's support sent a patch.
- Older guide, mixed signals. Leawo's user guide still says the module downloads one HBO video at a time, while the product page advertises batch downloads across seasons. Test batch downloads in the trial if you need them.
- A heavy install. The Windows installer is about 486 MB and Leawo asks for 5 GB of free disk space.
What Users Say
An HBO-specific review on Trustpilot
The one Trustpilot review that mentions HBO is about a problem and how it was handled: "After an issue about video downloading from HBO ( downloaded video was systematically quite shorter than the original ), the reaction of the support was quick ( mail received within 24 h ) and efficient ( patch proposed was easy to apply and solved the issue )." Mike, 5 stars
CleverGet overall on Trustpilot
CleverGet, the program the HBO Max module runs in, has a TrustScore of 4.7 from 66 reviews (79% five-star, 6% one-star). Long-time users describe it this way:
"I have had this product for years. It is a great product! What makes it even better is the tech support team. They are extremely knowledgeable, responsive, and timely." Pops, 5 stars
"I've used the Video, Amazon, Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, AppleTV...I have quite a few others.. But found the resources quite incredible." Satori Agape-Economo, 5 stars
"I cannot stand watching TV with ads, so the fact that this software strips them out is brilliant. Also, whenever I have had problems downloading programmes (it happens occasionally), the support that I have had from CleverGet (especially Zoey) has been very good and very quick (allowing for the time difference in the UK)." Mr Jim Craddock, 5 stars
Testimonials on Leawo's page
Leawo's product page quotes customers on the HBO Max module. They're the vendor's selection:
"My friend recently recommended me to use CleverGet HBO Max Downloader and it did help me save a lot of time and effort while downloading multiple HBO series. What impressed me most was its ability to pause and resume downloads. It's fast, reliable and very easy to use, so I highly recommend it too." Stephen Roberts
The pattern
Reviewers praise CleverGet's ease of use and especially its support, which answers within a day and sends fixes. The weak spot is the same in nearly every critical comment: a module can stop working properly when a streaming service changes, and Satori Agape-Economo says updates "can wreak havoc" until it's fixed. For HBO Max, also factor in the 720p limit.
Comparisons
HBO Max Downloader vs HBO Max's own downloads
HBO Max's app lets some plans download titles on phones and tablets, inside the app, for a limited time. Leawo HBO Max Downloader works on Windows and Mac computers and saves standard MP4 or MKV files that don't expire, but it tops out at 720p and costs extra on top of your subscription.

System Requirements
- Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 8 or 7, 64-bit, or macOS 11 or later
- 1 GHz or faster Intel or AMD processor (Apple Silicon on Mac)
- 512 MB RAM (1024 MB or more recommended)
- 5 GB or more of free disk space on Windows
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 or better graphics on Windows
- Internet connection and an HBO Max subscription
Conclusion
Leawo HBO Max Downloader fills a real gap: HBO Max won't let you download on a computer, and this does, with permanent MP4 files, your subtitles and audio description, and a support team reviewers trust. The catch is quality: 720p is fine on a laptop or tablet but a step down on a big TV, so it's worth it for travellers and anyone with unreliable internet, not for home-theater fans. Try the 3 free downloads, and if you'll use it beyond a year, take the $99.95 lifetime license.
