What we checked: CleverGet installer version 27.0.0.0 (485.7 MB) from Leawo's download link on October 22, 2026, and the one-year license at $49.95 on the order page on October 22, 2026, with the lifetime option at $30 more and a renewal price of $29.97 after the first year. We didn't download an NHK+ program ourselves, since that needs an NHK+ account.
Before you buy
- NHK+ is now NHK ONE. NHK replaced NHK+ with its NHK ONE service on October 1, 2025, and plus.nhk.jp now redirects there. Leawo's product page still says plus.nhk.jp, but its product status page listed NHK ONE as "Working" at 1080p and 720p on October 22, 2026.
- You need your own NHK+ or NHK On Demand account. Leawo NHK+ Downloader only saves videos you can already play while logged in. It doesn't get around NHK's sign-in.
- The one-year plan renews. The order page sets the one-year license to renew after 12 months, at $29.97 when we checked. Choose lifetime if you'd rather pay once.
- Personal use only. Leawo's fair use policy allows downloads of videos you legally own, for your own needs. Sharing downloads or using them for business is forbidden.
- It's a big install. The NHK+ module comes inside the full CleverGet program, a 486 MB installer, and Leawo asks for 5 GB of free disk space.

Leawo NHK+ Downloader runs inside CleverGet, Leawo's all-in-one video downloader. CleverGet has its own web browser: you open plus.nhk.jp in it, sign in, and play a program as usual. While the video plays, you click the download button and CleverGet reads the stream, then shows a Download window with every quality NHK offers for that program and your choice of format, audio track and subtitles.
The NHK+ module is one of several dozen CleverGet modules, from Netflix and Amazon to Japanese services like ABEMA, TVer and U-NEXT. You install one program, activate the modules you pay for, and each module gets its own free trial.

Where it falls short
- NHK On Demand allows one login at a time. Leawo's guide warns that parsing or downloading nhk-ondemand.jp videos fails if you're also logged in on another browser, and you'll be asked to log in again inside CleverGet.
- NHK On Demand tops out at 720p. Only plus.nhk.jp programs reach 1080p, and only when NHK streams them at that quality.
- Breaks when the site changes. CleverGet customers on Trustpilot say a streaming site's update can stop a module until Leawo ships a fix. Support is quick, but there can be a gap.
- The program must be playing. CleverGet only parses a video whose playback page is open, so you can't paste a list of links and walk away.
