Convert PDF tables to Excel XLS, XLSX, XML and CSV on Windows, in batches

PDF To Excel Converter: Move PDF Tables Into Spreadsheets on Windows

PDF To Excel Converter is a $29.95-a-year Windows program that turns PDF tables and text into Excel XLS or XLSX files, or CSV and XML, one file or many at once. It's for office users with regular, machine-made PDFs such as statements and reports, and it doesn't need Excel installed.

Anyone who has retyped a PDF price list into a spreadsheet knows why this exists. The honest question is how well it reads your particular tables, and that's what the free trial is for.

Quick facts

  • Version: 4.9.2
  • Developer: Reezaa, sold from pdfexcelconverter.com
  • Platform: Windows 7, 8, 10 and 11
  • Output: XLS, XLSX, XML, CSV
  • Price: $29.95, renewing every 12 months
  • Guarantee: 30-day money back, on the vendor's register page
  • Trial: free download, with limits removed by a license

What we checked: installer file version 4.9.2 and size (about 17 MB), dated August 3, 2024, and the price of $29.95 with a 12-month renewal on the order page, on November 6, 2026. We didn't convert our own PDFs, so the accuracy notes come from the vendor and published reviews.

Before you buy

  • It renews. The order page sets the next $29.95 charge 12 months out, with automatic renewal ticked. Check that box at checkout if you want one year.
  • Test your hardest table. The vendor says some PDF tables have complex structures and the output isn't always identical to the original.
  • Scans won't do. The vendor's pages describe PDF tables and text, not OCR, so a scanned page needs an OCR step first.

Overview

The program analyzes each row and column in a PDF and writes the result to a spreadsheet. Add files, choose an output folder, and press the big convert button. The vendor says it also keeps the non-table text from the PDF in the output file.

Older versions wrote only XLS. Version 4 adds XLSX, XML and CSV, which matters if you feed the data into another system rather than opening it in Excel.

Features

PDF To Excel Converter exports four formats

PDF To Excel Converter writes XLS and XLSX for Excel, and CSV and XML for databases or other spreadsheet programs.

PDF To Excel Converter controls how pages become sheets

PDF To Excel Converter can merge every PDF page into one worksheet or save each page to its own sheet, through its Merge Sheets option. Merging suits one long table split across pages.

PDF To Excel Converter handles batches and page ranges

PDF To Excel Converter takes a single file, a folder of PDFs, or dragged files, and converts them in one run. It can also limit a conversion to selected pages, which is quicker when only a few hold tables.

PDF To Excel Converter works without Excel

PDF To Excel Converter runs without Microsoft Excel installed, so it works on a PC that only prepares files for someone else.

Real-World Uses

  • Bookkeeping: pull figures from PDF statements into a sheet for reconciling, then check totals.
  • Purchasing: turn a supplier's PDF price list into a sortable spreadsheet.
  • Monthly reports: batch-convert a folder of same-format reports, and combine the results.
  • Data import: save tables as CSV for loading into another program.

Who It's For, and Who Should Skip It

It fits Windows office users who repeatedly convert regular tables from text-based PDFs and want a simple batch tool.

Skip it if your PDFs are scans or photos, or if the tables have merged cells and irregular columns. Skip it on a Mac. And if you have Microsoft 365, try Excel's own Get Data from PDF first, since it may do the job at no extra cost.

Usage Guide

  1. Install the program and open it from the desktop icon.
  2. Click Add for one PDF, or Add Folder for several, or drag files onto the list.
  3. Set the page range if you don't want every page, and set Merge Sheets as you prefer.
  4. Use Browse to pick the output folder.
  5. Click the Start Converting Now button, then open the result and compare it with the PDF.

Where it falls short

  • Accuracy has been its weak point. DotTech's 2010 test of version 3.0 reported poor output quality, and the vendor's FAQ admits many PDF forms aren't standard, so output won't be identical.
  • That same version couldn't convert encrypted PDFs, and overwrote existing images in the output folder without asking. We can't say whether version 4.9 still does either.
  • It tried to install straight to C:\ in that review rather than Program Files.

What Users Say

We found only two reviews of this exact product worth citing, published ten years apart. Neither tells you how it will do on your files.

DotTech: rejected (December 2010)

Ashraf tested version 3.0, then priced at $49.95. He praised it as "Straightforward and easy to use," with batch processing and drag and drop, and noted that it "Does not require Microsoft Office/Excel installed to use."

His main con was "Poor conversion accuracy/output quality." That test is old and predates the current engine, so treat it as a reason to run the trial, not as a verdict on 4.9.

MadDownload: positive (April 2020)

Amna Asghar calls it "a comprehensive software that helps to convert PDF tables and data into Excel without disturbing the arrangements," and says "the speed of this software is quite fast."

Comparisons

PDF To Excel Converter vs Excel's Get Data from PDF

Microsoft 365's Excel can import tables from a PDF through Power Query, with more control over the data but more steps. PDF To Excel Converter is simpler for batches and needs no Excel.

PDF To Excel Converter vs PDFZilla

PDFZilla, from the same vendor, also converts to XLS and XLSX along with many other formats. PDF To Excel Converter adds CSV and XML and sheet merging, so pick it if spreadsheets are your only need.

The vendor's site also promotes an Excel Tools Pack at $49.95 with a stated lifetime license. It bundles this converter with Excel Merger, Excel Splitter and other tools, so compare it if you want to avoid a renewal. We didn't check that pack at the order page.

FAQs

Does PDF To Excel Converter need Microsoft Excel?

PDF To Excel Converter doesn't need Excel to run. You only need a spreadsheet program to open the result.

Can PDF To Excel Converter convert scanned PDFs?

PDF To Excel Converter doesn't list OCR, so assume it can't read scanned pages. Run those through an OCR tool first.

What are the limits of the PDF To Excel Converter trial?

PDF To Excel Converter's site says a license removes all limitations but doesn't spell them out. The 2010 trial of version 3.0 converted only the first page of each PDF, and the current trial may differ.

Does PDF To Excel Converter renew automatically?

PDF To Excel Converter renews by default at the order page: a 12-month cycle at $29.95 with automatic billing ticked. You can turn it off.

Can I get a refund on PDF To Excel Converter?

PDF To Excel Converter's register page states a 30-day money-back guarantee. Ask support at support@reezaa.com if you need the terms.

Can PDF To Excel Converter process hundreds of files at once?

PDF To Excel Converter's batch mode is advertised for hundreds of PDFs in a run, and one vendor page quotes 100 files at a time.

System Requirements

  • Windows 7, 8, 10 or 11
  • About 17 MB for the download, 50 MB of disk space to install
  • Pentium 4 or better, 256 MB RAM recommended by the vendor
  • Microsoft Excel not required

Conclusion

PDF To Excel Converter makes sense for someone with a steady stream of tidy, text-based PDFs, and a 30-day guarantee lowers the risk. The reason to buy is simple batch conversion to four spreadsheet formats. The main reason not to is unproven accuracy on messy tables, with little recent independent testing, so try Excel's own import first if you have Microsoft 365. Test your hardest PDF in the trial before you pay.
