Windows Disk Management won’t let you extend C drive unless the space is right next to it. In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to solve this using a free partition manager.
Part 1: Disk Manager
When you want to expand non-adjacent space in Disk Manager, you will find that the Expand Disk button of Disk Manager is gray and cannot be expanded. So we need to use a third-party tool to achieve the expansion.
part2: AOMEI Partition Assistant
Step 1: Open the software
Open the software, left-click the system disk we want to expand
Step 2: Select the function of merging partitions
Right-click the system disk then select "Advanced" "Merge Partitions" at the pop-out menu.
Step 3: Select the merge area
Then, it will move to the window where you can assign unallocated space to C drive by selecting the partitions in the box. Click "OK".
Step 4: Confirm the merge
Here you can see that you have already extended the C partition by adding the unallocated space to the C drive. Don’t forget to click "Apply" to submit the whole operations.

Is your C drive running out of space,
but the unallocated space isn't next to
it? Don't worry. In this video, I'll
show you how to extend your C drive even
if the unallocated space is on the other
side of a partition without losing any
data. We'll use a free third party tool
to move partitions and merge space
safely. Let's begin.
Part one, disk manager. When you want to
expand non-adjacent space in disk
manager, you will find that the expand
disk button of disk manager is gray and
cannot be expanded. So we need to use a
third party tool to achieve the
expansion. Part two, AMI partition
assistant. Step one, open the software.
Open the software. Leftclick the system
disc we want to expand. Step two, select
the function of merging partitions.
Right click the system disc, then select
advanced merge partitions at the popup
menu. Step three, select the merge area.
Then it will move to the window where
you can assign unallocated space to C
drive by selecting the partitions in the
box. Click okay. Step four, confirm the
merge. Here you can see that you have
already extended the C partition by
adding the unallocated space to the C
drive. Don't forget to click apply to
submit the whole operations.
Thank you for watching here. See you in
the next two videos. If you have any
questions, please leave a comment or
