Hi. My name is Mark Steger, director of
Professional Services of American Barcode and RFID.
Today we'd like to show you one of our solutions, ABC Simple Inventory.
The idea behind this program is it s a two-tiered approach where you
have a mobile device and you have a PC program, barcode.
The idea is you're able to do the inventory with
the mobile device out in the field and then
bring that device back to your desktop and sync the information and then you can get
your inventory out with an Excel export or printing or whatever makes you happy.
So the way this works is we put all of our inventory
in an Excel spreadsheet and we set the quantity to zero.
So everybody has an inventory of some kind, whether it's pen and paper
or Excel, so it's often easier to do this ahead of time.
But if you want to, you could basically take the inventory with the mobile barcode
device and get the same result even though you wouldn't have a description.
So we took this inventory and we pasted it. We cut it out
of Excel and we pasted it into our ABC scan program.
So you're going to see the same items here also set with
a quantity of zero. So let's do our barcode inventory.
On the barcode device, the user is prompted with
a couple of simple prompts in yellow.
It's asking the user for the location. So they would basically just
go over to the rack and scan the barcode location.
And then the hand held asks the user for the item number, so they basically
just pick the item number that they want to inventory and scan that number.
And then it's asking for the quantity so they just
use the touch screen and enter the quantity.
And then it goes back and asks the user for the next item.
Quantity. Item. Quantity. And so on.
So when you're done with a location you just basically hit save
and you're ready to go on to the next location.
Scan the location barcode again and the item barcode and the quantity. That's it.
So you basically just inventoried one entire rack.
So we'll save this out, bring it back to the PC, place the device
in the cradle, and what will happen here is the PC is always
listening for devices, and when it hears a device it automatically goes
out an looks for the data on that barcode device.
As soon as it gets a response from it, it'll upload the records
to the database and change the counts in the inventory, barcode.
When that's completed the user always has to go over to the inventory database.
All right, so the barcode unit is connected and uploaded all
of its inventory, so we can go into the database.
And you can see that we inventoried these items, and the ones
that we did inventory on actually have counts on them now.
So from here, all you have to do is hit the
export button if you wanted to get it to Excel.
And you could export it to Excel or you could print
a preview report. You can do filtering and so on.
So that's it. We basically did an inventory with ABC
Simple Inventory barcode and thank you for your time.
