Today, I'll be giving a quick overview on
our barcode scanner range to help you chose
the appropriate scanner for your business.
Our entry level scanner is the 2900, which
is also referred to as a pen or a wand scanner,
and like all of our scanners, the 2900 connects
easily to a USB port on your computer, no
additional software, no additional, no additional
drivers to install whatsoever.
The 2900 works great for light or occasional
scanning on flat surfaces, but isn't recommended
for more intensive scanning. To handle more
scans, you'll want to move up to the 3900.
The 3900 features a CCD scan engine, which
is great for reliability, but short on range
at roughly an inch. You're also limited to
scanning barcodes less than 3 1/4" wide.
For additional range, look to the 8950 which
combines the durability of a CCD scan engine
with much greater range. You'll notice, I
can now scan from a greater distance, and
I'm also able to scan barcodes wider than
3 1/4". Choose the 8950 for moderate, daily
scanning in any office or light retail environment.
For additional range and increased scan speed,
we come to the 9500 which features a more
powerful laser scan engine, capable of scanning
one dimensional barcodes up to 29" away. This
is a well-suited option for retail office,
manufacturing, and warehousing environments.
And one of our most popular options for high-volume
scanning because of its speed and versatility.
For scanning two dimensional barcodes such
as the QR code, or Quick Response code, you'll
want to move up to the 4500.
The 4500 may looks similar to the 8950 but
it features an aggressive digital imager scan
engine, which provides excellent scan range
for both one dimensional and two dimensional
barcodes. We recommend the 4500 for almost
any intensive scanning application needing
two dimensional barcode support. Wasp also
carries a full line of cordless barcode scanners,
starting with the pocket-sized 100i.
The 100i carries the lowercase "i" designation
which means you can use this scanner to input
barcode data to any iPad or iPhone, in addition
to any mobile device running the Android operating
system. I recommend the 100i for any light
to moderate volume, one dimensional barcode
scanning when using a tablet or smartphone
device.
Moving up our wireless scanner range, we have
the 550i which is much more comfortable for
repetitive one dimensional scanning. The 550i
carries the same mobile device pairing capabilities
as the 100i, but in the more convenient conventional
gun-style design. While not in use, the 550i
is charged by simply plugging the AC adapter
directly into the unit itself.
For a cordless scanner with a recharging base
station, we have our 800 series scanner. Now,
unlike the 100i and 550i, the 800 series features
a batch data mode for working outside of wireless
range. It also features features two interchangeable
batteries for around the clock scanning. If
your needs call for it, you can pair up to
7 devices to a single base station.
The 800 series is offered in both CCD and
laser varieties to meet the demands of all
rigorous work environments. At the high end
of our cordless scanner range, we have the
450H which is a one dimensional and two dimensional
barcode scanner designed with a disinfectant-ready
housing to withstand repetitive cleanings
with a variety of cleaning agents commonly
found in health care environments.
Its built-in micro band antimicrobial protection
adds an additional layer of protection from
odor and stain causing bacteria. I recommend
the 450H for any and all health care applications
that call for a cordless two dimensional scanner.
The 450H is also offered in a non-antimicrobial
version, called the 450, and is recommended
for all scan-intensive applications which
call for two dimensional bar code needs.
For additional information, call one of our
scanner experts and we will help you find
the right scanner for your business needs
needs.
