How To Set Up a Barcode Scanner

This video describes how to set up and integrate a barcode scanner with a QX Series Cordless Precision Screwdriver and Process Communications Module to capture identification data.

in this video we are going to learn how
to set up a bar code scanner
first you will change
family settings to QX series
then you will go to set up PCM general
setup and select the controller ID
next click on the barcode settings tab
from here you can change your mode
between passive and active you can
switch the source from cereal or
ethernet now you will go down to the
criteria settings where you can change
the number of values that the PCM read
from the scanner
then you will double click under
configuration in order to bring up
another box where you can change what
configurations you want to program you
will then double click where it says 2
and type the numbers that you want the
PCM to recognize from the bar code then
you will select add and it will now be
added to that configuration you can add
multiple values for each configuration
in order to delete values
all you have to do is select the value
and hit delete
after completing this you select ok and
that yes it will now show you the
configurations and the criteria set to
those configurations you can also change
the length of the bar codes that the
scanner will read and then at the bottom
you can change whether it reads to the
right to the left or it doesn't read the
length at all

the PCM
next you will go to the

make sure that baud rate is at nine
thousand six hundred
the barcode scanner should now be fixed
and ready to go
