Closed Caption:
hi and welcome back today I want to look
at every fine read in a new version now
I've done previous versions on this but
I thought I'd do a quick update
but then I thought maybe not what I just
do a quick tutorial again if it's the
first time you've ever used it so that's
what I'm going to try and do Peck as
much as I can into a short period of
time very difficulty to program because
there's so many options
now when you open it this is the
interface you'll get and it's quite
straightforward that's what I like about
it you can go straight to a workflow
we've got open we can open a document
and work with it and that could be jpeg
PDF any document you want that'll be
from your computer directory
next option you can scan with a scanner
so you scan again anything you want from
your scanner and this will convert into
a format you want this is for comparing
documents so if you're working with a
document and you need to compare with
the original one in case something's
changed and you maybe want to use it for
like a contract or something and it's
compared to the original it's a good
option
your recent files and mobile application
would have not looked at yet but if tap
on it it's definitely worth a look at
download that on your phone now I'm
going to start with open now we've got
options down here PDF Microsoft
Microsoft Excel or other formats what I
want to convert I just want to open it
first so I'm going to click PDF document
and I've got one here document to work
with so I'm going to open up pdf
and it's just a journal that I've
grabbed off the internet so I'm actually
using this to source so I don't need to
reference it
but as you can see there it's about
scientific African
so when you open it up you get these
options in the reader every fine reader
PDF at the top here
now you might want to work with this
first so for example you might decide I
want to add a note
to the end of that line there or
paragraph and then you could type
something in there
you get the idea of that same doing word
really same sort of thing
tap off it then you might actually want
to highlight information so if I tap on
highlight I've got some colors here so
I'm going to make that
yellow there then I might come down and
make that pink get the idea with the
color coding
underline as well so I might go actually
on underline I'll leave that green you
can underline the information you're
working with again you get the idea with
that you've got strike through and you
can even insert text and I've got a
stamp so you could add a stamp to it so
you might go right final one drag it
down there's the time automatically if I
right click on it you can click status
or delete it so I'm going to delete that
then I go top right hand corner you've
got the comments option of those
comments that are added so you could
click on them like that shows you where
they are and you could do a number of
things again you might delete it or go
to properties for example and add your
own information in there for it
so I'm gonna close that
it's a quick costume to work your PDFs
you've opened I'm going to top here and
go to organize pages
there's all the pages in that PDF if I
click on here I could just show even
pages
or all pages which I've done here if I
scroll down you can see all those 12
pages
but I'm going to come off there and just
put even Pages for now so I'm just going
to put all pages to work with and tap
off it when you tap on one you can
actually delete it
or if you drag it you can drag it to
another position if you wish as well so
drag and drop makes a lot easier if you
work with PDFs you're not going to be
quite awkward you can open a PDF into
word if it doesn't give you these
options that I'm going to show you in a
minute to work with images and text and
tables within a PDF
so along here all straightforward here
you can even crop stuff by tapping on
that and you can choose what you want to
crop if you just want to crop something
out specifically you can
and come here and you can apply crop as
well if you want
exit crop
now come up here
spin that around as well where I want
and top right hand corner
I can undo what I've just done if I want
to as well
there you go that's the crop option you
can add additional pages so you might
want to add a blank one you can do that
or add from a PDF you've already got so
you might want to integrate PDFs
together
you can add from a file that you've got
on your computer or even if I tap there
it will go to the scanner which I'll
show you in a minute
I can move various Pages using that
option there if I wish
I can delete any blank pages of tap on
if there's any blank pages within that
PDF it will just delete them out but not
found saves me a bit of time
I can replace PDFs I can even split them
so if I click split
I can choose to split buyer it's file
size by page count
I'll even buy bookmarks first level only
so page count three total four so I'm
not going to split anything for now
I'm going to go to edit content
again we've got multiple options to work
with here for example head and Footers
you could add here if you want or create
a hidden footer
and that we can create your own hidden
photos in your PDF documents picture you
can add an image if you want
I'll add him in smear my little puppy
should be thrown there actually
these are the right little devil
and then if you want as well and come
along with your basic options instead of
clicking to the text where you can
increase font size bold and you've got
them you know what basically they are
anyway
I've got to security next
now security
you can insert the two signatures into
your documents password security
probably really handy if you've got an
important PDF you want to send by email
right you can create it here by adding a
password and confirming and also if you
want restrict Printing and editing with
a permission password so it's up to you
what security you want to work with that
it's on 128 bit you can put it up to 256
if you wish
and choose to encrypt all documents
contents
click cancel
you get a watermark so click add
Watermark type it's got saved there look
you can see that so what I can do is I
can for example make that larger
and then I could add a bit transparency
to it
there you go just see a little bit and
then click save and add
and there you go you can add that there
if you wish as well watermark
you can erase information
so for example if I click on here
I can raise the photo
so there you go there's your security
option let's go to form editor
again you can add your own text fields
in here so you might actually want to
add a text field in here
and you can type something in there your
general appearance so you can change the
color and even format and the text that
you want in there and date or general
you've also got here
radio button so if you're creating a PDF
that you want to send to someone and
enable them to tick and access it edit
it you can use these options you've got
this box you've got button so I'll click
bottom
pop your button in there as well if you
want and then you can have your
signature field that we looked at
earlier so that person knows the sign or
input their signature into there
so there you go there's the five options
at the top now if you want to save it or
export it to a different format
searchable PDF
to Microsoft Word to Excel and various
formats but I don't want to export now
all I want to do is I don't want to save
it I want to go back to here for your
horizontal lines and I want to do a new
task
so that's working with an image on your
computer
but now I want to work with a scan from
a scanner
before you start probably worth doing is
click on scan
come up the top select file
options
we've set these up quickly for example
when OCR editor Starts Now explain what
OCR is stands for optical character
recognition and that's what converts
your image text so what we can do here
is you can choose to open a new OCR
project we'll see this interface in the
background so you can start from fresh
or
go to your last one so every time you
open Epi Prime reader 16 it will take
you to your last project and that's
really handy if you're working in a
business and you've got a lot of files
to work with
now you need to acquire images so you
need a scanner so here's your options
for scanner select device
and then choose your scan index you
might have multiple scanners or drivers
now the older scanners I believe drivers
were called Twain
w-i-a so try and choose one that fits
your criteria and works well I'm using
the layer one and click ok
last little bit here
use fine Windows interface now scanners
for example Canon hewd Packard were
their own driver for their scanners and
I know I'm interface that pops up now
you can use that by selecting this
option here so it brings that up but it
still scans into every fine reader but
I've always used the app you find reader
interface scanning option it works
beautifully integrate with the driver so
it's up to you
again I won't go through all these
options because I'm trying to compress
this video but go through them anyway
language is really important choose your
language I'm set on English but again
you can choose automatically select and
it will detect what language you're
using
there's your OCR here I've got thorough
recognition I prefer a really really
good recognition but you can do faster
if you're dealing with the same kind of
font documents with no complex tables or
images in there again these are your
choices with headers and Furs
format settings now these are the
formats we export to using ABI fine
reader so I've got various ones here
going to docx which is word I've got it
set to editable copy so every time I
convert it and send it to word I want to
get a copy that I can edit but you can
choose an assat copy if you want full
mate text and plain text plain text will
be RTX like me to text format but I'm
happy with that and then you can choose
your settings here how you want that to
appear
last before we got other and you've got
various options make sure you choose
your interface language and updates it
should do automatically if you tick this
download install updates without
warnings choice is yours
click ok
right should we have a scan in a
document
go on scan so I could scan straight to
word
Excel an image file there's various
image files you can export to as well in
other formats
let's do image files
now wait for it to start that's the
interface we've got see at the top just
make sure you've got your scanner
selected
color so we can choose between color
optimal OCR gray and black and white
we've got brightness we've got the
resolution that you're scanning that now
Mouse scanners normally go to about 600
dots per inch at the most
you don't really need that if it's
really small text then they recommend
600 dots per inches adequate but for any
standard scanning I'd go 300 you can
choose the size a form which I'm using
I'm using a flatbed and scan one page
now flatbed scanner I'm currently using
bubbles I've got the document feeder
option so I could pop all my documents
in and it will scan one after another
without any input from me we've got a
flat bit what you need to do is put one
sheet on at a time or book page so you
could set that here to a Time 10 seconds
so when we click the scan button here it
will start scanning every 10 seconds and
it will scan again so that way you can
just put the book page down or sheets
and work along that way it's up to you
you might prefer five seconds but the
choice is yours
right click cancel or we do anything I
don't want to scan straight off because
I don't want to Tiff
what options I've got I've got
compressed jpeg I've got PNG I like I
want to use PNG bitmaps okay now PNG is
what I'm going to use and it's
uncompressed so hopefully it'll give me
a raw PNG image now four click scan I
still need to see how it's going to come
out so you can left click in that window
here with the mouse button or click
preview at the bottom
and it will do a quick preview of the
scan for you
and there we go I think I'm happy with
that but remember if you want it to come
out a little bit or look a bit better
and go to color
and you might go to Optimal OCR for text
let's try and act click preview
so you can find the best option for your
scan before you actually do a proper
scan to an image
looks pretty much the same I'll stick
with that
so let's scan away
there's my document I'm going to
maximize it now I'm ready to work with
it
now it takes you into Epi 5 minutes you
can see at the top with these multiple
options here at the top here
now at the moment I've just got a plain
scan text which I'm happy with but if I
come to the bottom
pull that up I've got the option
underneath that I can work with as well
and I can zoom in and out
so I could work with this bottom option
but also welcome the top option the
original document to see what I'm doing
as I'm editing and working with it I'm
going to pull that down and what I want
to do is I want to check if there's any
issues with this scan so what I'm going
to do is come up here and select analyze
page
shouldn't take too long to analyze it
now can you say is a big blue box this
indicates it's all text there's no issue
so that one calls me no problems
otherwise I'd have to add pictures
tables and even background so what I'm
going to do is I'm going to click
recognize page
and it's going to put it on the right
form it's going to check if there's any
issues it's highlighted a few blue ones
here isn't it
so what can come up here we've got an
option that says verify
that way I can check right through or to
check if it's right or what I'm happy
with that so I can then skip
and that one just double check if it's
correct now that's a name so I'm happy
with that so I could just put a
dictionary and you get the idea that
deal with that you correct it or skip
through it so that's just using a normal
document
and then if I'm happy with that I've got
various options and if I scroll down
actually you can see the kind of format
it's going to give you on the right so
that's going to be save as an Excel
workbook
electronic publication HTML Center word
and so on I can even email the document
if I wish as well
and if you've got an option here to send
to my Amazon Kindle as well but you've
got another option sent to other
applications as well scroll down and you
might find an application there that you
wish to send to including copy straight
to clipboard now let me show you
something so I'm going to come back out
of there I'm going to go new task
I'm going to scan again
image but this time
so I'm going to select here again I want
PNG
I'm going to scan something with an
image
and click scan to PNG again I'm not
going to preview I just want to scan it
in quick just give you a demonstration
that's better because now I've got some
images and stuff to work with which I
didn't before this makes that a bit more
difficult
first we want to do is come up here and
I want landscape
now if you look at that document there's
a lot going on there's images there's
text
there's even a circle here in Biro so
what I'm going to do first is Select
analyze it
so first thing I did was analyze it and
you see it's built up and it's brought
up these tables and colors now we know
this blue one here indicates text so
they're text regions which is rectangle
images are gone pink so it's made in
pink that it feels it's an image here
you can see see we don't need that there
now so if I right click on it and select
delete and get rid of that
and green because it sees that as a
table here
so this is where if you've got a
complicated document that you need to
scan
and then convert and edit you need to go
through this process because it gives
you that little bit extra to work with
it now I'm going to come up here and
select recognize page see how it brings
it up on the right
that can come to the right and have a
little look
don't look too bad does it
it's got a bit fluffy there
but see what we could do with this now
here come back here it's got rid of that
Biro which is good as well hasn't it see
this green here I could right click on
it and select the lead
and I could have a go and maybe turning
that to text to see how that comes out
and again click recognize page
so you kind of work with it then if
that's any better is it a little bit
better but again I'll let you work with
that
they can always come up the top here and
go through the verify option to verify
all the text within that
document and click close
again once you're done we could tap on
it we could come up here and save so I
could save as Microsoft Word couldn't I
let's give it a go I'll just call it
test one
and select save and it will open up
automatically
then you can see that scan and the other
thing with it you can edit it look
s at those text boxes if it was Pink
images I can't edit it because their
images as you can see there but then
again you can move them around which
makes life a little bit easier to where
you want if need be
close that
that's using the basic options
now if you come up here you can save the
page that you've added with the option
here
if you wish as well click cancel and
you've got an option here it says edit
image I'm going to tap on that
now if I didn't save it it's going to go
back to the original format but that's
what I want now I'm in editing mode and
can you see here you've got multiple
options
so you might look at that and go
actually I need to split some stuff in
there
so we've got an option here we split
let's get in the line coming up so I can
split
that document Horizon to offer to clean
let's go vertically horizontal sorry
that's horizontal and if I tap on it
I've got one and two and then I can
split by line so you can break stuff up
and work with it if you want as well
also down here you can crop stuff out if
you want and you've used crop on word as
well so you can drag the crop where you
want
if I scroll down
you can crop exactly what you want out
of there as well but I don't want to
crop anything
you can invert
so if I select here invert and invert
the colors
click back out do current page or odd
pages of all pages if you've got more
than one you're working with
brightness and contrast you can play
around with again
get a brightness and contrast you want
and you can even erase stuff once so I'm
going to go raising stuff and get rid of
that
probably better with the other option I
showed you earlier but then you can just
quickly
delete stuff out you don't want to work
with
and there you go so then come up here
remember you can save it come back up
here and go to file
save as and then save as a format you
want remember to save it so there's one
more thing I want to show you actually
I'm going to
minimize that and go back to this
document here
I'm going to go to edit image
now what I'm going to do is here
I'm going to go to Razer and I'm going
to
delete a few bits out
there's a method to my madness now we'll
go to file
save and I will save that to
PDF searchable PDF
and I'm going to save it
scan a paperwork too so this is the
edited one click save
and there's the PDF come up there with
the missing options here
now that could be word change not
necessarily it's not necessarily words
missing so if I go new task
I can now go compare
tap or compare I need to compare two
documents so the first one I just did or
scanner paperwork too
and then on the right we're going to
import
the original one which is scanner
paperwork
now we need to check the differences and
now does any words change so any small
print this will find it
click on the right it says here find
differences in punctuation
find one letter differences select
compare
it's a company on English but it should
detect the language anyway but just
check that if you're doing it
so check the first document that's going
to check against the second document
click close
at the top it says it's found issues
I've come to the right we've got them
here so it knows text was deleted here
text delay it text edit here
and then you go through it and check for
any words that are changed or anything
that's different headers and Footers at
the bottom is there where it's got text
edit so you can actually find out
information between your original
document and one that's been edited so
that's more for business documents
or specific documents you might be using
in the workplace I'm going to come out
there and don't save
and out of there as well and close and
don't save
go back up to the top
file new task
so there's a quick video there's a quick
video tutorial on the basics of using
every farming there's so much more to it
that should be enough to get you up and
running thanks for watching
