Convert, edit and play almost any video or audio format on a Windows PC

iDealshare VideoGo for Windows: Convert Almost Any Video or Audio File, Then Trim, Crop and Merge It

iDealshare VideoGo is a $49.99 Windows video and audio converter, with a lifetime license, for people who need an odd file to play, upload or import somewhere it currently won't. It reads common formats and awkward ones like AVCHD, MXF, WTV, DVR-MS, R3D and HEVC, writes MP4, MKV, AVI, WMV, MOV, ProRes and more, pulls the audio out as MP3 or FLAC, and does simple edits on the way.

You know the situation. The camcorder's .MTS clips won't open in your editor, the TV recording from Windows Media Center is a .WTV file nothing else understands, or the smart TV refuses the MKV your phone shot. VideoGo is the "make it play" tool: drop the file in, pick a format or a device preset, click Convert.

Quick facts

  • Version: 6.8.2.9498, installer dated January 2, 2026
  • Developer: iDealshare
  • Runs on: Windows 11, 10, 8, 7, Vista, XP and 2000
  • Price: $49.99 for a lifetime license with free updates (a $29.99 one-year plan is also sold on iDealshare's own store)
  • Free trial: converts only the first 5 minutes of each file, or half of a file shorter than 5 minutes
  • Installer: 17.8 MB
  • What we checked: the installer downloaded from idealshare.net on October 24, 2026 reports version 6.8.2.9498 (17.8 MB), and the price on the order page was $49.99 for the lifetime license on October 24, 2026. We didn't run conversions with the full version.

Before you buy

  • Test your own file in the trial. The trial is the full program with a length limit, so it shows you whether your exact file converts. iDealshare's own reply to an unhappy buyer on Trustpilot was: "We do have free trial version, if it does not work, please do not buy it."
  • The refund policy is narrower than the "30-Day Money Back Guarantee" banner. iDealshare's FAQ promises a full refund when a bug stops the program working and support can't fix it, when your hardware isn't supported, or when you bought twice by mistake. Changing your mind isn't on the list.
  • This is a converter, not a video editor. Trimming, cropping and merging are there, but there's no timeline, transitions or multi-track editing.

Overview

VideoGo uses one window for everything. A toolbar along the top holds Add File, Trim, Crop, Effect, Merge and Preference. On the left a small player previews the selected file. At the bottom you pick the output from the Profile list, choose a destination folder, and press the big round Convert button. It's an older, plain-looking design, but you won't need a manual to find your way around it.

Features

Converts the formats other tools refuse

iDealshare VideoGo's input list goes well past MP4 and AVI. It reads camcorder and broadcast footage (AVCHD, MTS, M2TS, TOD, MOD, MXF, R3D), Windows TV recordings (WTV, DVR-MS), Apple ProRes, MKV, WebM, OGV, FLV, F4V, SWF, RM and RMVB, Fraps game captures, BIK, AMV and more. It writes SD or HD MP4, MKV, AVI, WMV, MOV, TS, WebM, OGV, FLV, ASF, DV, DivX, Xvid, MPEG-1/2/4, VOB and Apple ProRes, and can save frames as BMP, GIF, JPEG or PNG.

HEVC/H.265 in and out

iDealshare VideoGo encodes video to HEVC (H.265), which keeps the quality of H.264 in a noticeably smaller file, and decodes HEVC footage from newer phones and cameras to MP4, AVI, MKV, MOV or WMV for players that can't handle it. HEVC sits in the Profile list next to the other formats.

Audio extraction and audio conversion

iDealshare VideoGo saves the soundtrack of any video as MP3, AAC, M4A, WAV, FLAC, WMA, OGG, AC3, DTS, AIFF, APE and other formats, and converts audio files between those formats too, including lossless ones like FLAC, ALAC and APE. It reads less common audio such as 3GA, CAF, M4B audiobooks, MKA, QCP, VOC and AMR. It can also boost a quiet track's volume or turn stereo into 5.1.

Device presets so you don't have to know the settings

iDealshare VideoGo's Profile list has ready-made settings for iPhone, iPad, iPod, Apple TV, Android phones and tablets, Samsung Galaxy, Xbox, PlayStation, PSP, Kindle Fire, Surface and more. Choose the device and the program picks a format, resolution and bitrate it plays.

Trim, crop, effects, subtitles and watermarks

iDealshare VideoGo's Video Edit window has tabs for Trim, Crop, Image, Watermark, Effect, Audio and Subtitle, with side-by-side original and output previews. You can cut a clip to set start and end times, crop away black bars and set the zoom to 16:9, 4:3 or full screen, adjust brightness, contrast and saturation, add a text or picture watermark, and add, remove or extract subtitles (SRT, ASS, SSA, IDX, SUB). There's also a Deinterlace checkbox for old TV recordings.

The Effect tab with Black and White applied: other effects in the list include Oil Painting, Line Drawing, Woodcarving, Negative, Embossment and Old Film, with a Deinterlace option.

Merge, split by chapter and fine-tune the output

iDealshare VideoGo joins several video or audio files into one, or splits an audiobook, podcast or movie into separate files at its chapter markers. For people who want control, the Advanced Settings panel exposes the video codec, video size (up to 4096x2160), frame rate, bitrate, encoder preset and aspect ratio, plus the audio codec, sample rate, channels and volume.

Benefits

  • One program for the stray-file problem. Instead of hunting for a separate WTV, MXF or HEVC converter each time, you keep one tool that reads them all.
  • Pay once. The $49.99 license is lifetime, with free updates, where many rival converters are yearly subscriptions.
  • No settings knowledge needed. Device presets do the codec maths, and the Advanced Settings are there when you want them.
  • Small and old-PC friendly. The 17.8 MB installer still supports Windows 7 and earlier.

Real-World Uses

  • Old Media Center recordings: convert a folder of .WTV and .DVR-MS TV recordings to MP4 so they play on any device.
  • Camcorder clips for editing: turn AVCHD .MTS files into MP4 or ProRes before importing them into an editor that chokes on them.
  • A playlist from a concert video: extract the audio as MP3, then split it into tracks at the chapter markers.
  • Space on a full drive: re-encode large H.264 files to HEVC to make them smaller.
  • A movie for the TV: crop the black bars, burn in an SRT subtitle and save it in a format the TV's USB player accepts. One Trustpilot buyer converts videos onto a USB stick for their big-screen TV.

Who It's For

VideoGo suits home users who regularly run into files that won't play or won't import, and want a one-time purchase rather than another subscription. It's also handy for anyone with a backlog of old formats: Media Center recordings, early camcorder footage, RealMedia files.

Who should skip it: if you only convert the occasional MP4 or MKV, the free HandBrake does that well. If you need real editing (timelines, transitions, titles), buy a video editor instead. And if a modern interface matters to you, newer commercial converters are a better fit.

Usage Guide

  1. Install and launch. Download the 17.8 MB installer from iDealshare and run it.
  2. Add files. Click Add File, or drag files or a whole folder into the window.
  3. Pick the output. Open the Profile list and choose a format (General Video, HD Video, General Audio, Lossless Audio) or a device preset. Click Setting... to change the resolution, bitrate or codec.
  4. Edit if you need to. Use Trim, Crop or Effect, or select several files and click Merge to join them.
  5. Convert. Choose the Destination folder and click the round Convert button. Open Folder takes you to the result.
  6. Register. After you buy, enter the license name and code from your order email to remove the 5-minute limit.

Where it falls short

  • The interface and updates show their age. The windows look much as they did years ago, and FileHorse lists "The interface appears outdated" and "No frequent software updates" among its cons.
  • Large files can be slow to edit. FixThePhoto's one con was that it "Lags while editing large video files".
  • Not every exotic format works. One Trustpilot buyer bought it to convert .N3R files after reading an iDealshare article, and it didn't work for them. Format lists on the site aren't a guarantee for your particular file.
  • Support has mixed reports. Some buyers praise quick help with lost license codes, while another says they never got a refund or a reply.

What Users Say

Trustpilot: 3.8 out of 5 from 8 reviews

iDealshare's Trustpilot page is small and its reviews date from 2017 to 2020, so treat it as a rough signal. Six of the eight reviews give five stars:

  • "It works great whatever in convering, playing or the basic video and audio editing" — Hermann Pernell
  • "i Highly recommend this tool, value for money is 100%." — Tarek Jammoul
  • "...I can reformat them and put them on a USB stick and watch them on my Big Screen TV." — Ross LaPorte
  • "...The tool does a perfect work, very useful." — Do. Ostermann
  • Ken Damon titled his review "My "lifetime" version stopped working but they came through", and wrote: "I had a problem with the program initially and they completely resolved the issue to my great satisfaction."

The two one-star reviews are about support and a format that didn't work:

  • "NOT ONLY DID I NOT GET A REFUND, and never heard back from them..." — James Hammer, "Poor Customer Support or a SCAM?"
  • "We downloaded this software to convert .n3r files, because an article on their website indicated that it could do that." — Ryan Keeney

Software review sites

FixThePhoto (4.5 out of 5), Kate Gross and Kate Debela: "iDealshare is a super-efficient audio and video converter. Thanks to its intuitive design, iDealshare is very easy to use." They liked the straightforward installation, the basic editing and the parameter settings. Their one con: "Lags while editing large video files".

Malavida (8 out of 10), Lauriane Guilloux, reviewing version 6.8.2.9498: "As you can see, it's a very complete program. If you find the trial version useful, you can consider the possibility of purchasing the full license that has a rather affordable price of $29.99." (That's the one-year price on iDealshare's own store.)

FileHorse, Sophia Jones, lists as pros "Supports numerous video/audio formats", "Includes basic editing tools", "User-friendly interface" and "Offers batch processing", and as cons "Lacks advanced editing features", "Limited customer support options", "The interface appears outdated", "The trial version has restrictions" and "No frequent software updates".

The pattern

People who use VideoGo like the format coverage, the simple three-step workflow and the price, and reviewers agree it's easy to pick up. The complaints are about its dated look, slow handling of large files and uneven support. There's little recent user feedback anywhere, which is one more reason to run your own file through the trial first.

Comparisons

iDealshare VideoGo vs HandBrake

HandBrake is free and excellent at turning videos into MP4, MKV or WebM with H.264, H.265 or AV1. VideoGo writes many more output formats (WMV, AVI, MOV, ProRes, FLV, VOB), converts audio-only files, merges and splits files, and has device presets for older gadgets. If MP4 is all you need, HandBrake costs nothing. If you need the odd output format or audio work, VideoGo covers more.

iDealshare VideoGo vs subscription converters

Big-name converter suites add screen recording, DVD tools and modern interfaces, but most sell yearly plans. VideoGo is narrower and older-looking, and its lifetime license costs less than one year of many of them.

Until December 29, 2026, iDealshare's coupon Give70OFF brings the lifetime license to $15 when you enter it at checkout (checked on October 24, 2026). The Windows and Mac versions are sold separately, and volume or academic licenses are available by contacting iDealshare.

FAQs

Does the iDealshare VideoGo trial add a watermark?

iDealshare VideoGo's trial limits length, not features: it converts only the first five minutes of a file, or half of a file shorter than five minutes. iDealshare doesn't describe a watermark, and registering with your license code removes the limit.

Does one iDealshare VideoGo license cover Windows and Mac?

No. iDealshare VideoGo for Windows and iDealshare VideoGo for Mac are separate products with separate licenses. This page's license is the Windows one.

Can I move iDealshare VideoGo to a new computer?

Yes. iDealshare's FAQ says to uninstall it from the old PC, install it on the new one and register with the same license information.

What if I lose my iDealshare VideoGo license code?

iDealshare resends it: email sales@idealshare.net with your order ID, email address and name. A Trustpilot reviewer who lost their registration details titled the review "Great customer service!"

Can iDealshare VideoGo convert Windows Media Center WTV recordings?

Yes. iDealshare VideoGo lists WTV and DVR-MS among its input formats and converts them to MP4, AVI, MKV, WMV and other formats.

Can I get a refund for iDealshare VideoGo?

Only in specific cases. iDealshare refunds you when a bug blocks the program and support can't fix it, when your hardware isn't compatible, or when you bought the same product twice. Bought the wrong product? iDealshare offers to refund it once you buy the right one, or to give you the right one at 50% off.

System Requirements

  • Windows 11, 10, 8, 7, Vista, XP or 2000
  • 1 GHz Intel or AMD processor or faster
  • 512 MB RAM or more
  • 30 MB free disk space for installation, plus room for your converted files
  • 800 x 600 display, 16-bit graphics or higher

Conclusion

iDealshare VideoGo is worth buying if you keep running into files that won't play or import, especially older and unusual formats like WTV, MXF, AVCHD or RealMedia, and you'd rather pay once than subscribe. The one reason to buy it is breadth: it reads and writes far more formats than free tools, and handles audio too. The main reason not to is age: the interface and update pace are dated, and support reports are mixed. Run your actual file through the five-minute trial. If it converts cleanly, $49.99 for a lifetime license is fair value.

Works great
Reviewed by Henry on 11/12/2020

It works great to batch convert multiple videos and audio files.
It also can directly play my media files without conversion.
I also use it to do some basic editing like merge, rotate, effect, it is really easy to use.
