hello everyone welcome back to my
channel
and her friends and annie and i am back
with part 6 to go through our list a to
z of ideas of things to put in your
planner
we are trucking along and I'm actually
hoping to get three letters completed
today so I guess buckle up here we go
i'm diving right in
all right we left off where I and the
first one is ideas
my ideas are behind this notes tab and I
kind of have a separate section it's got
a lot of blank paper
I like to add a little embellishment
sticker banner anything at the top and
this is a place where i literally
scribble
I mean can you just see my handwriting
I'm not worried about it being spelled
correctly
whether it's complete sentences or
whether it's just like you know random
words
I'm if it's neat this would be very
similar to a bullet journal in the only
in the sense of one idea for
homeschooling might be here and then I
might have an idea for you to when they
might have an idea for christmas there's
no order you just take the next
available spot and write it sound
I love doing things like that and this
is where all of my ideas start so if i'm
watching a YouTube video and I have an
idea or if I'm out and about and I have
an idea
this is where it goes and then I try to
move them into the proper place so some
ideas are just things that maybe need to
go in my calendar or my multi-view maybe
my weekly video other things become kind
of like a group and they might become a
book list
they might become I don't know Christmas
list
so all of these ideas that i have for
Christmas might become project or their
own list
I actually have my final fax melden my
purple personal sized mountain is set up
as my youtube and other social media
ideas see I'm starting to put down some
thoughts for kind of a planning 101 how
to get started planning
so here's a list and I
have all sorts of social media related
lists in this planner so you might even
have a separate plan or not just a
separate list and other lists might be a
bucket type bucket list type lift around
spring i started to put this together of
different things for my kids and I but
it was kind of ridiculous because i was
going okay sweetie
my daughter's told me she was done
drinking your water ok now let's get
back on the train
oh it's ridiculous because my son was
born like the week after easter two
weeks after Easter so I was probably
bored while I was pregnant with him and
planning
you know it's something that I like to
do and it's fun I'm but i had started
kind of a spring one and a summer one so
you can have different types of lists
like the based that I have in this
suffering notebook
I don't really refer to them that often
but sometimes your ideas don't need to
be first and foremost in your planner
which is why i like to have kind of this
brain dump section where I can put
things down and then I can sort of way
and evaluate how important they are
whether they should be a part of my main
planner in a list or a separate section
or whether it can be in a little
notebook or whether it can be in its own
separate later
so ideas is the next thing oh my son is
right outside the window trying to talk
to me all right
I need to get back to this right here
okay so after ideas in your planner are
important dates and this is one of the
hoes like this is what everybody uses a
planner for I'm but some different ways
to mark things I think the key is to
make sure if you have a really important
date on the calendar Christmas an
important birthday party
you know a deadline on a major surgery
vacation you're going to almost
naturally make it stand out from
everything else
so this is just going to be a little bit
of a matter of preference and let me
show you a few things I have done using
washi tape for like a vacation
and stripping it across the whole length
could be a way to make it stick out
I use a particular sticker this is from
the cold hutch designs
it's just a little anybody sticker I've
got one there I have one here these are
for my birthday is
I mean go back another month
I can show a few more here more birthday
so the same type of sticker and makes it
stand out from the rest and you could do
something like that and you can use a
highlighter you can use color coding
you know you could drop you know big
circle around it and arrows I mean it
really is
the sky's the limit so I think just
whatever your preferences and finding a
way to make them stick out is really the
important thing and making sure you're
noticing them if they come up
another thing you can do with some sort
of countdown and if you've ever seen
people do count down to disney countdown
to the end of school
countdown to the start of school you
know how many days left application that
kind of thing and you could have a
different countdown sticker and every
box that's obviously going to keep
drawing your attention to an important
date or event and of course you could
use some sort of import or some sort of
countdown in your weeks or your daily
pages as well it just really depends
like I keep saying on your personality
what works for you and your brain
the important thing is to mark them down
and to consistently be looking where you
have them marked down

ok and I wanted to do a little bit of
like rehearsal before I fill in these
videos
I'm just mentally thinking through my
point and so forth and I was thinking of
job in file and this might actually be a
follow up video where the entire topic
is explored in more detail because what
I was coming down to is a lot of times
you're going to have a separate section
for your job
and or you're going to have a separate
planner and I am a home school mom and I
have a separate planner so you know in
that sense I'm a a teacher by occupation
and i have all my lesson planning and my
work related stuff in that planner and I
want to do a good compared and how to
use to planners I've touched on this
before in a video so be sure and scroll
through some of my videos to see that
and you may let me touch on this a
little bit
some things if you want to keep certain
contacts you can maybe have a few
contact pages in the back of your
planner or wherever and keep maybe some
business contacts in here so that way if
you're out about you need to make a
phone call or something comes up you
might be able to reference that or shoot
out an email and you may want to keep
past jobs in here if you're doing a job
search right now you're filling out a
lot of applications or resumes and they
always ask you like your last five jobs
or a lot of the jobs you've had in the
last 10 years and I hate feeling that
part out
and so glad I'm a stay-at-home mom right
now and like looking for a job is not
even an issue because that it makes me
go crazy
but you can have all of that information
kind of like a cheat sheet written down
I'm you may wish to mark at the very
least in your planner your work schedule
if you work consistently like an eight
to five or teaching job
you really don't have to mark things
other than maybe the first day the last
day on half days vacation day
is you know if you work and your
business is closed on government
holidays you want more of those but you
don't need to write like work eight to
five work eight to five work eight to
five and take up valuable space and
small areas
you're certainly welcome to do that if
that's important I'm just saying you
know if you're consistent
a lot of times you'll have to break that
down if you work any sort of shift job
like a police officer may be a nurse
things like that you could be several
days on several days off you might just
want to write you know on on off off on
those kinds of things and in your week
is where you obviously get specific
about when those times are because you
want to make sure you're not scheduling
other things and you have to give
yourself time to commute before you can
start the laundry or you know go to
Bible study or your kids sports
activities so I mean you know that time
stuff can be in here you might simply
mark it on here and the other thing like
to use my teacher planner as an example
you know it's actually nearby let me
pause and grab it really quickly
ok this is my next year
my 2016-2017 homeschool planner and I
actually just finished off the school
year with my kids so and this is the new
one I'm getting prepared but let me just
show you an example and like i said this
will be a video by itself
I'm sorry I'm unable to zoom out a
little bit more about for what we're
doing it should not be a problem
so here is August in August and I have a
monthly calendar in my teacher planner
and the important thing I think is to
only mark work-related things in here or
personal things that are going to affect
work so for instance even though we're
not really starting school yet I marked
our vacation and as a a teacher i can
i'm not going to plan this week we're
going to start school a couple of weeks
after that so I want to make sure not to
plan the bulk of my planning time for
teacher stuff in this week so see how
something personal like a vacation
affect my work planner
I'm I don't have any more examples to
show you right now but that's just one
another thing to think about though is
in the same way i only need to mark
things that affect my personal life
um in this planner that are work-related
so again if you're off or schools out
for your kids
if you have a field trip you know things
like that
I'm thinking of school related things of
the teacher here only if it's going to
affect my personal scheduling do I want
to mark work things in my personal
planner
so again I think I did a bad job of kind
of explaining that
but the good news is i will follow this
this video up using to planners and
coordinating all work and a personal
planner in a completely separate video
so i can do it justice
and i just want to say
I think it's one of those things that
it's the nature of the beast well you
know if we want to be highly effective
highly organized and productive people
and having kind of a separation and
figuring out how to sync the two things
is really going to be helpful to get
things done and it's just one of those
you know i would love to have everything
in one planner and I've tried that and
I've looked to that I've used a five
have used this and that but the nature
of the beast is there to suck hole
completely separate categories and
therefore they should be and separate
planners under most circumstances
so that being said keep checking back
with my channel or subscribe so that way
when i'm done with this series i can
start putting together all those videos
i have promised to expound on
ok back here so job info
next one is journaling or prompts
some people do actually journal in extra
space in there planner and this might
especially true for using maybe an erin
condren style or a larger planner so you
use the top several boxes for scheduling
and to-do list and then you have another
box where you can record some of the
highlights of the day I'm you could have
a different section and i use a
completely separate planner i use a
homie g as a journal so I guess it
doesn't really apply to me specifically
and but a journal prompt or even just
regular prompts let's see i thought i
had an example in here
look really quick we've got a paper clip
in here
oh here we go and you know various
Instagram challenges come out with
prompts this happened to be a rocker
handwriting one
this was way back from April I never
actually did it
which I guess is a good thing because I
just had a baby and
that was probably fun to think about and
dream about doing this but not actually
get around to doing it so I like to
write the hashtag of what the challenge
is here because then I can refer to it
and type in one thing that i usually do
when I did not hear is I right where I
got it from so the original instagram
user so that way if I need to like go
back and kind of scroll through the
photos to find the original list or to
find the original creator i can and i
usually also write down the date so this
is like an April list or may list and
then of course i can check things off
when they're done
so you could use this for the photograph
things that happened to be one of the
rocker handwriting ones which is similar
to journaling where you just write
different things and then there are tons
and tons like the reset girl lists are
kind of journal prompts or even just
google journal prompts or even pinterest
and and search journal prompts and
you'll get list and list of things to
help you
daily journal or write a thought down or
even create art and from that so that is
an example of a list of journal prompts
alright man we're flying through these
actually
ok let me keep going journaling prompts
on kids
I have a kids section or like in my list
i have a different page for my kids I
have one for my husband to but I've
shown this before in previous a to z
series videos on each of my kids has a
page right now I don't need any more
room than that so there are my four
children
I use a post it to keep track of their
current sizes because they are changing
a lot and instead of scribbling things
out on the paper
it's much easier to just get a new post
it note when I either run out of space
or two completely if they change the
size i change the post-it no I'm I also
keep down either wish list items for
them so like for my baby boy
you know it would be nice to have a
sling and for my toddler I keep things
that she's interested in she loves books
baby dolls and dressing up and same
thing with my older two kids
you could also have a kids section and
keep track of school information maybe
their teachers name and contact
information and maybe they're you know
dismissal times or schedules who to call
if your child is sick
maybe even a copy of some sort of
permission slip for absentee slip and
you could actually have one ready to
grab out of a pocket or something
and again wish list birth the ideas
their favorite things
of course if your children are taking
any medication or have any medical
things you can either listed on your own
page like this and just have several
sheets of paper for each child or for
one child if they have prescriptions
that they're taking and then you can
track them on there so there's so many
different ways to do it whether you're
just you know creating your own with
blank paper
you can search medical tracker or no
prescription tracker on etsy and see
what kind of inserts come up
it could be its own section for your
kids with a tab labeled kids and
everything
or it could just be like mine where you
have a you know condensed amount of
information at least for the time being
and it can become its own section if it
needs to add a later time
so that is what I do for my kids
this is really really helpful it's weird
i don't refer to it a lot but it gets to
stay in my main planner because i always
have it with me and if I'm out and I see
a sale on winter boots and I need to
know what size my kids are in then I
want to whip it out so it's kind of one
of those sections and and lift that stay
in my planner even they don't refer to
them very often because when i do need
to refer to them they need to be nearby
