How to embed a Youtube video into Power point using a Mac.

This tutorial demonstrates how to embed a Youtube video into Power point using a Mac. One key not at the end is that if you are planning on using the presentation on a different computer, you need to save the video file and the presentation on the same jump drive, or whatever file storage device you use, or else the video will not play. When I do this I usually copy the presentation and the video file to the desktop of the computer I am presenting on.

embed a YouTube video into a powerpoint
so the first thing you want to be going
to do is go to your YouTube and find
which video you want or need
as you can see i am here at YouTube
found a video that i like and you're
going to want to go over here to just
underneath the subscribe button
they've got a URL listing here you're
going to want to highlight that and copy
that
once you've copied that you can go to
google and search from video our media
converter software that you can download
there's some of that's free there's also
stuff that's on line that's free
I googled media converter and the first
one that came up was media converter dot
org
see if you can see that media converter
dot org and it's actually one that I
like pretty much most of all it's fairly
easy to use it does limit your
conversions
each time you visit the Site you get
about five conversions I think anyways
one of the things you can do at this
site is actually browse within YouTube
and find a video you can also upload
videos that you might already have saved
to your computer and convert them to a
different format but where we're going
to do here is enter the link that we
copied from YouTube
so we're going to click on that and
we're going to go ahead and paste our
video down there you can see I've done
this once before you click OK
you're going to want to go over here to
the next step and click on next step you
can see also that you're down here and
the selected files that your URL from
youtube or whatever you have is down
there
click on next step then it's going to
ask you what kind of a file output that
you want you can do a couple of
different types of files
I like mp4
good luck with those I just click on OK
and then it's going to bring you to a
summary of what you're asking this
program to do you'll just click on start
and it's going to be converting the URL
of the video from YouTube into an mp4
video that you can then download to your
computer
a new conversion or you come down into
the preview window down here and you can
click on download once you click
download you will be able to save the
file you can hit okay i'm going to
cancel because I've actually already
seen in this file to my computer and
then once you have that saved to your
computer you're going to go over to your
PowerPoint and this is where it's really
easy with PowerPoint format and you can
actually go up here to insert and you
can insert a movie and you'll just go
down and find where you want that movie
from cancel that real quick or in my
toolbar up here I've got media showing
as one of my buttons and I can click
that for a kind of something that's a
little bit quicker and insert the movie
from there again bringing me back to
insert a movie and I have to locate the
file on my computer
that's the file that i had downloaded
after i convert it i'll choose that
how do i want the movie to start the
slideshow you can either have it start
automatically or or when you click on it
I like to do it when i click on it this
way it provides me with a little bit
more flexibility as i'm giving my
presentation
so essentially what you have is when
you're in your presentation mode which
hopefully you can see here
my background is just plain white you
can of course change that but once you
have your cursor over here on the left
then you can hover over and it changes
to a little senior there and you can
click and it should start playing your
video
you can also click on it deposit or
obviously if you're familiar with our .
you can get your down arrow your
spacebar a couple things and we'll go to
the next slide
the other thing I wanted to show you
real quick also with powerpoint for mac
that's pretty easy once you have your
video file on your computer
didn't you already have a slide that
looks similar to this where you've got
kind of these different options to
choose you can actually insert a lot of
different things from your files
insert a movie from file again you're
going to see insert a movie again with
that same video and choose when clicked
or automatically and it's in there
you can also preview this from without
having to go into the presentation mode
it will drop down a little toolbar like
this and you can just click play and
your video should be able to start
playing
