Part 2 - LDAP Based Corporate Directory via Cisco IP Phone Services SDK - Part 1

In this tutorial, you will learn how to use the Cisco IP Services SDK to search Microsoft Active Directory without having to integrate Unified Communications Manager with LDAP. This can be useful if you have a multi-tennant environment or if you want to use an existing Active Directory database as an additional directory.

hello this is josh with blind hog dotnet
and today I'm going to do a tutorial
using the cisco IP phone services
software development kit going to use it
to query an ldap database on Microsoft
Active Directory for our corporate
directory with our phones so first thing
to get started here and i have a just a
very small Active Directory set up
basically i just have for users and
these for users are in organizational
unit called blind hog users and i'm
going to show you how to use the
localized directory script that comes
with the software development kit to
query this
oh you and put it in our phones so
instead of having the typical corporate
directory that shows up it comes from
callmanager where you can see here i
only have two of the guys we're going to
be pulling from Active Directory so the
first thing we need to do is get some
software installed i do not have is
installed on this machine yet I do not
have the software development kit
installed so first of all
click start go to control panel add
remove programs click on add remove
windows components and we're installing
is case your wonder
double-click on application server on
asp.net which automatically includes is
click ok click Next and wait for the
reinstall the finish
ok the installation is completed click
finish and exit add remove programs
ok we need to make one modification is
to allow the active server pages to work
so click on start all programs
administrative tools is manager here on
web extensions we need to highlight
active server pages click allow and we
can close the window
ok now that we have is installed the
next thing we need to do is install the
cisco IP phone services software
development kit let's open a web browser
and go to developer Docs khou.com select
the drop-down box under buy API / sdk go
down the IP phone services click on
resources and select the latest version
of the IP phone services SDK
say this to the desktop while that's
downloading i'm also going to go find
add see edit go to google and I type it
and see edit dll ok this computer

reliable one OK click download etsy edit
download again click Save again we're
going to say this to the desktop it's
closed web browser going to extract the
sdk real quick and install
k when the install is complete click
finish
it's going to give you the overview of
the software development click software
development kit
and I'm gonna install the at-sea edit
dll and MSC files so extract it going to
copy these two files and placing them in
system32 directory
ok
and then I'm going to register them with
the system sees red serve 32 @ c at it
dll ok says that and see it was
registered successfully ok now that we
have all the software installed that we
need is and software development kit and
add see edit we need to edit or modify
the localized directory file so go to my
computer see cisco IP services asp the
localized directory folder and open this
with wordpad ok you may be asking
yourself what is at sea edit and why do
I need it
well this is where we use and see it to
to give us the distinguished names of
our search base and our our user
so type and add see edit the MSC ok it's
going to bring up a little tool here
can expand the domain blind hog dotnet
I blind hog but local
for the ldap server i'm just going to
put the IP address of this domain
controller she's got 50
the ldap search base go to add see edit
right-click on the oh you that you're
using some properties and we're looking
for the distinguished name
there it is
copy that paste it into our file right
here okay change the ldap 42 389 and
let's change the ldap user ID which is a
you know I set up a specific user in my
active directory for for this
well not have it i need to do that
and refresh the ads yet utility
right-click on the cesium administrator
user go to properties again we're
looking for the distinguished name we go
copy
let's paste that in and the password i
put in the cisco 123 dollar and we're
going to save this as a file on the
college corporate directory DSP ok
