Hello. In this video, you will learn how
to recover data from a RAID array after
accidental deletion of files or
partitions as well as after disk
formatting. We will also cover how to
access data if the RAID controller or
one or more drives have failed. If the
array configuration was accidentally
deleted or recreated, and the array is
no longer displayed in the file
explorer. You will learn how to manually
identify RAID parameters correctly.
Connect the drives to a computer and
open them in specialized software to
successfully recover data in Windows,
Mac OS, and Linux environments. This
material will be useful both for system
administrators and for users who deal
with data recovery from RAID arrays
based on hardware controllers.
ERA ARC 1260 controller capabilities.
The Eureka Arc 1260 controller allows
you to create and manage RAID arrays of
the following types: Stripe, Mirror,
RAID 3, RAID 5, RAID 6, and JBOD, and
supports connection of up to 16 SATA
drives. The controller supports online
volume expansion, migration between RAID
levels, automatic recovery, and disk
rebuilding, which significantly
increases data storage reliability. It
is compatible with Windows, Linux,
FreeBSD, and Solaris. Supports large
volumes larger than two terabytes, and
includes BIOS boot support to improve
system stability. The built-in web
interface allows remote monitoring of
disk and RAID array status, receiving
error notifications, and managing RAID
array configurations. This controller is
well suited for servers, workstations,
and enterprise storage systems where
high performance, reliability, and
flexible disk array configuration are
critical. Recovery of deleted files and
partitions. [music] In this part of the
video, you will learn what to do after
accidental data deletion or formatting
of a RAID array. To recover deleted
information, you can use Hetman
Partition Recovery. A link to the
program is provided in the video
description. After launching the
software, you will see the RAID array on
the main screen along with its file
system size and available partitions.
Select the entire array or a specific
partition with the left mouse button.
Then start the scan by doubleclicking or
by using the context menu and selecting
open. If files or folders were
accidentally deleted from the RAID
[music] array, select fast scan. The
tool will scan the entire array and help
restore deleted items. Heat. Heat. N.
If the raid array was formatted, use
full analysis. The program will perform
a deep scan of the array and recover all
data that was previously stored on it.
In this video, we demonstrate the second
option. Select full analysis. Specify
the file system type and click next to
continue.
Wait for the scan to complete and click
finish.
In the next dialogue window, the data
available for recovery on the RAID array
will be displayed.
Select the required folders and files
and click the recovery button located in
the upper left part of the main menu.
In the window that opens, choose a
location to save the recovered data.
Then click recovery.
After the recovery process is completed
and the data is saved, click finish.
Your data from the RAID array is now
available for use again.
How to create RAID 6 using the Eureka
ARC 1260 controller. In this part of the
video, you will see the process of
creating a RAID 6 array using four
drives and learn what to do if the
Eureka Arc 1260 controller fails. We
will also cover the key aspects of
assembling a RAID array and the
parameters that should be saved to
ensure successful data recovery in the
future. When powering on a computer with
a connected RAID controller and drives,
a service message will appear on the
screen for approximately 5 seconds. To
open the configuration menu, press tab
or F6 key. Then the BIOS window will
open with a selection menu showing the
list of controllers connected to the
motherboard. Using the up and down arrow
keys, select the required adapter and
press [music] enter to access the main
configuration menu.
For quick RAID array setup, select quick
volume/rade setup [music] and press
enter. Choose the RAID type from the
list and press enter to continue. Next,
specify the volume size, block size, and
create a partition. Confirm the settings
by selecting yes and pressing enter.
After that, select the initialization
type, standard, background, or no
initialization, and press enter. This
completes the RAID array creation
process. To exit and reboot the system,
press tab several times. During the next
boot, skip the setup by pressing escape
and wait for the operating system to
load. Afterward, open the disk
management utility.
Confirm disk initialization.
create a new volume and place data on
it. Alternatively, the RAID array can
also be created using the controller's
web interface.
Data loss from a RAID array. Data loss
is something that cannot be predicted in
advance. RAID 6 provides a high level of
data reliability, but it does not offer
absolute protection against data loss.
Any drive or controller can fail at any
time. When the controller fails, access
to data on the drives becomes impossible
without replacing it. If replacing the
damaged controller does not resolve the
issue, you can use specialized RAID data
recovery software such as Hetman RAID
recovery. The program supports most
popular file systems and RAID types. It
reads full information about the
controller used to create the disc array
and is capable of rebuilding a damaged
RAID system.
RAID 6 array recovery. Before starting
the recovery process, make sure that the
disc to which you will restore data from
the RAID array has sufficient capacity
to store all recovered information. If
the Eureka Arc 1260 controller fails,
disconnect all drives from the
controller and connect them directly to
the PC motherboard using SATA cables,
then launch the software. It is
essential to remember the exact order of
the drives in the array. Each drive in a
RAID array plays a specific role in
storing data and par. Changing the drive
order may result in file loss, damage to
the array structure and complications
during recovery. It is strongly
recommended to record the drive order in
advance to ensure safe recovery.
Creating and using disk images. If it is
not physically possible to connect all
drives, an alternative method can be
used. Create an image of one or more
drives that cannot be connected and then
mount those images. In the next step, we
will show how to create a disk image and
combine it with the other connected
drives in the program. First, [music]
launch the software. Select the drive to
be imaged and click save disk as shown
in the video. In the window that
appears, click next.
Then select save to hard disk.
Specify a folder where the image will be
stored. Once completed, the image is
ready and can be used together with the
other drives. In the main window of
Hetman RAID recovery, click mount disk
at the top of the program. In the window
that opens, select raw disc images.
Click next and specify the previously
created image.
The image will now be mounted together
with the remaining three drives of your
RAID 6 array using the RAID constructor.
If the program cannot automatically
detect your disk array, you can use the
RAID constructor. To work in this mode,
you need to know the RAID array
parameters. With this type of
controller, RAID arrays are organized so
that the beginning of the file system
does not match the beginning of the
disk. Due to partial data deletion, the
program may not be able to detect the
offset automatically. Use the hex editor
to find this value. Launch it by
right-clicking on the disk and selecting
hex editor from the menu or by pressing
Ctrl H.
Click the search icon. Enter EFI part
and click find.
Use the found value minus one sector.
For example, if 521 is found, use 520
since for GUID partitions, the file
system begins in the second sector from
the start. In the main menu of the
program, select RAID constructor in the
upper left corner.
In the next window, click next. Choose
manual mode and click next again.
On the following page, select RAID 6
dual parody
and specify the block size, in our case
64 kilobyt. In the block order field,
select a which is located at the bottom
of the list as it best matches this
controller. This block order is not
standard for RAID 6 since different
manufacturers distribute data and par
across discs. Selecting ARA ensures the
correct data and par rotation, allowing
the array to function properly and
enabling safe data recovery. Pay close
attention to the bytes per sector
parameter. In most cases, it is 512
bytes, but on modern drives, it may be 4
kilobyt. This must be taken into account
during recovery or rave configuration.
In the available discs field, select the
drives belonging to your RAID array.
move them to selected discs and specify
the correct disk order. When all
parameters are set correctly, at least
one partition should appear in the
resulting RAID array field. Open the
partition and verify that the required
folders and files are present. If the
volume does not appear, but all
parameters are correct, manually specify
the offset indicating the beginning of
the file system. Doubleclick the disc or
click change disc offset/s size. In the
new window, enter the offset value in
the offset field. Change the units from
bytes to sectors and click okay. The
program will automatically convert the
value to bytes. Repeat this procedure
for all remaining RAID drives.
Once all values are entered, click
update under selected discs. The
directory tree of your RAID array will
appear in the resulting RAID array
section. Click add. Automatic parameter
detection. If some RAID parameters are
unknown, you can try different options
available in the program. For example,
you can change the block size 32 kob, 64
kilob, 128 kilob, or disk order, left
synchronous, left asynchronous to find
the correct configuration. You can also
use the detect automatically option. In
this mode, the program will sequentially
test various possible parameter
combinations, allowing it to identify
the correct RAID configuration, even
when the exact parameters are unknown.
This process may take longer than manual
configuration using known values. After
this, the RAID array will appear on the
main screen, ready for scanning and data
recovery. Doubleclick the RAID array or
rightclick it and select open. In the
next [music] window, select fast scan
and click next.
After the RAID analysis is complete,
click finish.
The original data stored on your RAID 6
array will now be displayed and
available for recovery. Optionally, use
the preview feature to view file
contents.
Select the folders and files you want to
recover and click recovery in the top
[music] menu.
Choose a destination for the recovered
data
and click recovery again.
The program will successfully restore
data from your RAID array.
