In this video, I'm going to review
Cisdem AppCrypt. Cisdem AppCrypt is an
app locker and website blocker rolled
into one. It also has a scheduling
feature.
It supports Mac, Windows, iPhone, iPad,
and Android devices.
This review focuses on the Mac and
Windows versions. Cisdem AppCrypt can
help with parental control,
productivity, and more. Let's look at
its features one by one.
When you first launch AppCrypt on your
computer, you will be asked to set a
password.
Enter the password to access its main
window. On a Mac, it automatically locks
three system apps by default. You can
remove them, but I don't recommend doing
so. You can add apps to lock using the
add button.
You can also drag apps directly into the
interface.
If anyone tries to open a locked app,
this screen will appear asking for the
password. The app won't open if the
password is incorrect.
If you don't want to lock an app
anymore, just remove it.
AppCrypt has an auto relock feature. If
enabled, it will automatically relock
apps after a period of inactivity or
when you are away from your computer.
AppCrypt also offers an allow list
feature, which is available on Mac only.
If you switch to allow list mode, all
apps except the allowed ones will be
locked.
AppCrypt is also a website blocker.
Now, let's use it to block YouTube.
Blocking applies to popular browsers
such as Chrome, Safari, Edge, and
Firefox.
With AppCrypt, you can also block
specific pages. In that case, only the
blocked page becomes inaccessible. You
can still visit other pages on that
site.
You can add websites to block in the
main window or using this dialog box.
You can block websites by category such
as social media sites and gambling
sites.
The search box can help you find if a
certain site is already on the block
list.
You can also filter URLs by keywords.
All URLs containing a specific keyword
will be blocked.
If you want to create a completely
distraction-free environment or
completely protect your children from
inappropriate sites, you can block all
websites except approved ones by adding
approved sites to the always allow list.
AppCrypt works based on schedules,
according to which apps and websites are
automatically restricted or unrestricted
when the time comes. By the default
schedule, they will be restricted
permanently.
You can edit schedules by selecting
times of day and days of the week.
You can add schedules if needed.
You can also enable a custom schedule
for specific items.
If there are specific websites you want
to exclude from any schedules, just add
them to the always block list.
AppCrypt is designed to be hard to
bypass, and I highly recommend setting
it to launch as your computer starts up.
If you are a Mac user, you can even set
it to capture a picture of the intruder.
If anyone tries to quit AppCrypt or
disable a feature, he or she will be
prompted to enter the password.
Password protection also prevents any
unauthorized changes to your AppCrypt
settings.
In addition, you can view failed bypass
attempts and easily export or import
your AppCrypt configurations. AppCrypt
is easy to use and versatile.
