Introduction and User Interface

Introduction and User Interface

2D CAD software forms the foundation of CAD design. To help beginners understand the operational characteristics of CAD software, we have created this video series. This is the first episode, where we explore the interface of DWGSee CAD and how to find the required drawing functions.

hello everyone
welcome to this video series where we
will be introducing two decad drawing
methods
I'm your instructor Scott from Auto DWG
cat encompasses both 3D CAD modeling and
2D CAD plane drawing
3D cat often begins with 2D sketches
before performing extrusions and other
operations in 3D space
therefore 2dcat forms the foundation for
design
in this video series we will guide you
through the usage of CAD software and
practical exercises to demonstrate the
steps for drawing
this will help you understand and master
the process of creating 2D drawings
when it comes to CAD AutoCAD is a name
that cannot be overlooked
it is an industry standard providing
different versions to support complex
designs and models
AutoCAD LT a classic 2D drafting
software saves files in the formats DWG
dxf and DWF
AutoCAD is powerful but its download
registration and installation processes
can be complex due to its extensive
system resulting in Higher Learning and
usage costs
that's why you'll find many third-party
software options in the market like our
dwgc CAD software
one of the standout features of this
third-party CAD software is its
compatibility with DWG dxf and DWF file
formats
it means that AutoCAD and dwgc c80 can
open and save each other's modified
files
additionally their operating methods are
similar making it easier to get started
dwgc cad's installation process is
simpler without the need for account
registration and its small file size and
minimal resource usage ensure faster
opening of DWG files
even after the trial period you can
continue viewing DWG files
due to these advantages more and more
users are choosing dwgccad
[Music]
this software is suitable for engineers
to view DWG files and create simple
graphics
you can also make modifications to
existing DWG files and then send them to
designers who use AutoCAD making it an
ideal DWG viewer and CAD alternative
solution
alright regardless of which CAD software
you use the approach to drawing Graphics
is the same
after familiarizing ourselves with the
dwgccad interface in operations we will
delve into more advanced CAD drawing
functions and practice exercises to
grasp the 2D CAD drawing approach and
techniques
in the courses we will first introduce
the cad interface and basic mouse and
keyboard operations
operations are similar across different
CAD software
instead of focusing solely on software
operations we will emphasize drawing
techniques and exercises as clever
approaches can make drawing feel
enlightening
let's take a look at the dwgc CAD
software interface
let's switch to the software window
at the top right corner is the file name
of the current drawing we are viewing
we currently have a DWG file open
at the top of the screen there are some
menu buttons
clicking them will expand the menus
these are the view menus
here are the draw menus which include
various drawing functions next is the
modify menu
this is the dimension menu for
annotations
the software's functions are clearly
categorized in these menu buttons
in addition to the menu buttons we have
these toolbars
on the left and right sides of the
screen as well as the top different
toolbars appear upon expansion of the
menus
clicking a button in the toolbar will
activate the corresponding function
making it very convenient
the commonly used commands from the draw
menu can all be found in the buttons on
the left hand side toolbar
[Music]
similarly the modify menu functions are
found in this toolbar
the toolbars are also customizable but
it's recommended to keep them in their
default positions
commonly used functions from the
dimension menu are placed in this
toolbar for quick access
for instance to add a dimension
annotation we can find it in The
annotation menu and select linear
dimension
[Music]
alternatively we can directly click the
linear Dimension button in the dimension
Toolbar to perform the dimensioning
operation
foreign
just like AutoCAD we can use the command
line at the bottom of the screen to
execute operations
for example let's draw a line
Type L which is the command for drawing
lines first select a point
select the second Point continue drawing
and select the third Point connect them
and there you have a triangle
so we can execute various operations
using the command line
at the very bottom of dwgccad is the
status bar
for example this indicates the grid
status
clicking it toggles the Grid on or off
there are other statuses such as snap
and line weights which we will cover in
future videos
this is the function of the status bar
displaying and enabling various
functions of the software as well as
showing the cursor's coordinates and
other information
of course the main purpose of the screen
is to display our drawings the dwgc cad
buttons and function bars occupy only a
small area leaving most of the screen
space for drawings
the tab buttons beneath the drawing
allow us to switch between model space
and paper space just like this
a simple click switches between them
this concludes a rough introduction to
the 2D CAD software interface
in the next video we will cover mouse
and keyboard operations
unlike using Office Word or other office
software CAD has some unique mouse and
keyboard operation habits
we typically use the spacebar or
right-click to confirm and repeat
commands rather than the enter key
this approach minimizes the need for the
right hand to leave the mouse making
left hand movements more efficient
to smoothly draw CAD drawings proficient
keyboard and mouse operations are
crucial
alright until the next video thank you
for watching

Description:
DWGSee CAD: A Lightweight 2D AutoCAD Alternative with a One-Time $198 License DWGSee CAD is AutoDWG's lightweight 2D CAD program for Windows: a classic AutoCAD-style interface with a command line, the usual draw and modify commands, layers, blocks and dimensions, working directly on DWG files up to AutoCAD 2027. It costs $198 once, with no subscription. It's for people who draft and edit 2D drawings but can't justify an AutoCAD subscription...
