Since reports can be saved in JSON, HTML, RTF and many other formats, you can auto-populate databases and job ticketing forms for a print shop, or advertising agency, for example. The FlightCheck Automations preferences are very powerful, out of the box.

As you see, though, you can expand on them even more through Apple Automator, for instance, or other scripting possibilities. The ability to collect all used fonts and images in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, QuarkXPress and even PDF files with linked high-resolution images, can all be automated in your workflow with FlightCheck 2023.

Enfocus Switch users can set up watched hot folders and hand them off to their SWITCH workflows. Google Drive or box users, can preflight and share packaged files or preflight reports via desktop connections to those accounts and so much more!

last but not least i'm just going to
touch briefly and show you where you can
do the automations in flightcheck 2022.
this product is apple scriptable so
there's a lot more you can do
you already notice the reports come in
various different formats which you can
then grab and do many automations with
in many different scripting languages on
your computer or in your workflow
before we get started with flightcheck
automations what you need to make sure
is that you have
open here
in your system preferences are set up
here in your system preferences
under security and privacy
and under full disk access
the flightcheck 2022 app
has full disk access so you need to
quick and reopen flightcheck boom
do that you can now get out of here
all right so now in flightcheck itself
if you go into the preferences
you're going to see there's a tab called
automation
and there you can do stuff like create
flightcheck report and by the way we
have all individual tutorial videos on
preflight reports
packaging
how to pre-flight
all that stuff as well so check out the
playlist i'll put a link down below here
um nonetheless and don't forget to share
and like this video please very
important for the algorithms as they say
but it's really true you know
so anyway let's get further here i got
to fix my glasses they're like a little
bit broken but anyway
okay so here we are and now in
flightcheck again uh up in the
preferences
and we're gonna
create flightcheck report it's going to
be in html format we're going to send it
to an absolute path which is
which is right here
this preflight reports
so we just
click on that and then we can set that
up
right so already have that set up uh
reading to avoid it open in default app
and then when we take a file and drop it
on flightcheck like for instance um
well we'll just take this
indesign file
we have new icons for the inventory mode
and results mode which is very cool
and we get we see 88 percent we see all
the errors problems and what have you
and
that's how the report's created and then
it's stored
in the preflight reports folder we set
up so we see all the reports in there
in our hot folders we set up in the
used in the prefaces in this case right
now if we open up automator
we can further say
all right open
in
um
open finder items
and you could
say other app
so this is apple automator it's free on
every macintosh if you don't know how to
use it someone can maybe teach you or
you can have other people help you with
that it's not open
every file that comes in the in folder
here in flightcheck
and we'll run this automation now if we
set this automation up to actually close
the document right
let's now go into the
preflight reports and let's
oops i don't want to select everything
let's just get rid of all the
preset reports that we've already run in
our tests
move to bin
now it's going to actually close the
document after the preflight report it's
going to open the default application
and now when we take
a couple files here like a pdf
and the same indesign and a different
quark file we drop them on the
flightcheck it runs the whole process
you see flightcheck in the beginning
checking against ground controls and
boom bada-boom and bada-bing all the
pre-flat reports open up as desired in
the automation
set up in automator
and we look over here
under prefab reports we now see all the
prefix reports there we could access i
mean what people do with flightcheck
i've known many people over the years
that any job that comes in before anyone
touches it it automatically gets a
preflight report made and stored with
the job tick with the job bag used to
print it out and later on now they use
it digitally so you can automatically
when a job comes in boom run a report
that's legally what came in
and then you can go back and show the
customer well look you have problems
when you send it in that's why i printed
badly these type of discussions which
could save you thousands tens of
thousands of dollars euros
yens whatever the heck uh currency
you're working in bitcoins why not you
know
um
so now let's uh take this a step further
let's go back in the flightcheck under
preferences and let's actually
create a package
so
what we're going to do now is create a
package
and we're going to send it to the
package job folder
and
i'm not going to
close the document leave it open
and you can actually use
password error folder so right now it's
not set up with any
any subfolders in this in this package
i'm gonna throw this one away
that's a little test file i did
uh so the package folder is not set up
um
with any subfolders yet but now if we if
we run a job on it so if i take like
like this
little quark file
we run our thing on it
we get the preflight score
and now if we go over here
you see it actually created an error
folder for us
and then we see
our
package job that says watch out there's
problems and in that in that file is the
test file the reports
preflight reports and all the all the
images we created with it or
that were used in the file
so pretty darn cool
now let's take it a step further
so let's get rid of
this
let's go back into flightcheck
let's
let's not use password let's just open
let's just zip and compress
automatically
so we could now turn this off just
because we're going to have to do the
take a fl indesign file we'll drop it on
there
preflights the file
runs the ground controls against it
creating reports
we see the packaged report right here
and it says watch out there's problems
but now we have a zipped up file
so what's cool
let's take this a step further
if we now go back to automator and we
say okay open items in flightcheck and
then let's do a
send
a new message

take a second to set this up because
obviously you can automate this to
um
be relative to your i mean you can do
all kind of automations like based on
customer numbers and customer names and
so you can even set it up to run
to send files off the email attachments
compress
your package package it up put it on an
email and send it off now this can be
done also with box and with your google
drive it's all interconnected so you can
actually do all this stuff just ask your
administrator for help if you need help
with this so that's really cool how far
you can take these automations and
there's a lot more you can do with
automator and with the uh
flightcheck in and of itself i don't
need to save these right now
um but you saw how neat it was well one
thing we could do actually
what we're going to do we're going to
have an in folder
then going to go into here into
flightcheck
and then it's going to go
to a new folder
we're going to call
out
right
if we take
a few files like uh
let's take these two files right here
and we copy them into the in folder
and we run this
you see it automatically will process
these files in the in folder and you can
set this up to be fully automated so you
don't need to touch anything and it just
runs everything through and then of
course you could you could further
you could further do these automations
to say create
create package use pass fail
uh we don't need to zip it per se we
don't need to close document and then
what you can do is do the same thing
if you have um

a couple different files indesign and a
a pdf
and we drop mindy
it's going to go through and
automatically scan all these files
that are in the in folder
and process them accordingly
so now we get
all the package files
in the air folder because there's
problems with those files
because you see what we've done here
in the pr in automations we've
create package
absolute path to package jobs but use
warrant error folders it automatically
creates those
once uh the file is done so you saw how
neat that is how it just you know
shows you exactly
uh you know where it is how it is all
the automations you can run
so that's just that these are just some
of the really amazing automations you
can do with flightcheck
those are some of the automations in
