to show you the 153 the about screen
printing high water mark graphics would
like to show you the one two threes of
the screen printing process first you
have an idea
you may create it by hand but most
people use a computer
keep in mind when you develop a design
the fewer colors that you use the less
expensive you're running charge will be
you should also consider the color of
the shirt when you set up your design
you can use the color of the red shirt
as a color in your design
after you have your design we have to
have the colors separated we separate
the colors so that we can burn as
screens complicated designs and or
photographs will break into a four color
process or CMYK which equals cyan
magenta yellow and black
this is commonly referred to as full
color after we color separate your
design we send it out to the shop to
have the screen is produced the screens
are what the ink goes through to make
your design on the shirt
it's a complicated process screens are
coated with a light sensitive emulsion
once dried the film positive is taped to
the screen and the screen is placed in
the exposure unit which has a mercury
halide bulb after the screen is exposed
it goes to the washout tank and the
image is washed out with water screens
take up a lot of space so we normally
have to make new screens every time we
run your shirts we run hundreds of jobs
a month and we would fill up a warehouse
if we tried to keep them all after the
screens are burned
we load them into one of our automatic
presses the old way of screen printing
use a manual press but all of these
presses are automated we are high-tech
the t-shirts are loaded individually
then the Machine rotates to each color
station and the squeegee automatically
goes over the screen and the ink gets
into the shirt
this little heater thing is called a
flash sometimes we'll use this on dark
shirts to create a white underlay or
base so that your color image stays
crisp and doesn't bleed into the fabric
after the shirt has gone through all the
stations we pull the finished shirt off
voila a finished product well we're not
done yet
the shirt looks great but we still have
to bake the ink into the shirt
we now run the shirt through a heater
that is set to 375 degrees this step
bakes the ink onto the shirt
no going back now when the shirt comes
out we fold it up back it and send it
off to you
