hello today we're gonna be building a
red laser pen from a DVD burner
I've already attracted the diode so if
you want to say that check the video at
the end or in the description but first
we drill a hole in a casing this first
hole will be for the switch and we're
going to remove every single plastic

splinters we're going to drill a second
hole here where our axes housing will be
mounted
so you want to get the hole just big
enough and just clean enough for your
access housing next you want to take
place and paper and roll it up put it
into the hole
get rid of all the plastic birds and
smooth it out so there's no more
splinters
next add you switch to the hole this is
a very simple click on click off switch
and we're going to add the driver
circuit next this is the same one we
made in the previous video making your
driver circuit linked at the end again
and well there's nothing different about
it
exactly the same as a maximum output
current of 250 milliamps

so the next step we have our laser diode
in our module we have a driver circuit
all we need now is that power supply
which will be a 9-volt battery and a
switch
so here's the part where we put
everything inside the case I've sold
everything straight away to the switch
make sure that why i stay the same color
so I don't get confused
we're going to be using a 9-volt battery
and we're going to first test the
circuit to make sure it's all working
before we stick it all into our case
so can I battery with the clip can be
more difficult than it looks
and here's our power on tests we have
red light very faint red light
admittedly but i haven't tuned the part
yet so we're moving on to the part
tuning i pointed out the case
so we'll be able to see twisting the
screwdriver now as you can see that
suggesting the resistance
I turned all the way down right now and
we're going to turn it up and we end up
with a bright light such as this
this is a great sign
your lasers that bright is very powerful
so we have a laser
Test complete we can now go ahead and
start taking everything inside our case
but first I like to make sure the wire
is secure
so either I tie a knot in the end or I
put some tape around it and catch some
of the wire inside that you so when you
pull the wire
it doesn't just pull the diode ow or
pull the connection off
keep it nice and secure unlike before
without blue laser project going to
stick the battery in with a piece of
velcro the velcro is reusable afterwards
so we'll replace the battery we don't
have to replace the velcro we just move
it along this other piece of velcro
we'll go inside a nice case we now need
to glue everything down so to do this
i'm going to use some epoxy glue as the
one step which is the president and the
other step which is the hardener once
you mix them together you can pretty
much stick anything to anything
remember you need to stick everything
down that includes the driver circuit
like this it's going to smear some epoxy
glue all over that and we're also going
to stick in the axis housing and then
you leave it for a few hours maybe use g
clamp just to make sure it's gets the
perfect bond after a few hours of past
we could put the rest of the case on and
it's question time
does it burn electrical tape the answer
well once you get it in focus
yes yes he does you can see here we've
got a lot of smoke coming off this
electrical tape
I'm going to focus at one point now and
you can even see the damage I don't even
have to bring that to the camera you can
see it
so we'll have a little play will draw
lots of little tiny lines all over the
electrical tape
I mean it was a nice patterns of smoke
and nice buttons on the electrical tape
so i think it serves my new seal of
approval
it is a big scary laser maybe we have
future lays the projects are do a better
job of getting the stick a central but
for this one
it's perfectly adequate we have our
first seal of approval

so moving on to something else does it
like to match the best test for lasers
this is a red match so of course you
need to pen the match first cuz it's red
because it's reflecting red light

so you have more red lights not going to
do anything
here comes a red laser to get on get in
focus and will it
yes it like to match yes it burns
