thank you for joining us today today's
presentation will show us how we can
open a PST file and Microsoft Outlook
our file first has to be either copied
from a CD to our local hide hard drive
or perhaps we have made one from outlook
itself if we've copied over from a CD we
must remove the read-only feature that
occurs when copying off a CD to do this
locate the file that you copied from the
CD navigate using my computer to your
location
our location is on the d drive when you
find that file right-click on it and
choose properties after you choose
properties you'll see down here where it
says read only has a checkmark we need
to remove that read-only checkmark by
clicking on the check mark seeing that
it's gone and hitting apply this will
confirm that read-only is turned off and
now we can hit OK and begin using our
file now we need to open the PST that we
either copied off the CD or from our
location that we have saved it to on our
hard drive to do this we need to select
file open
and outlook data file to fill open a
dialog box are we where we can navigate
to our file location after navigating to
that location click on the file one time
and click OK you'll notice we went from
having to folders 293 this third floor
over being that archive that we just
opened up we have access to all of our
folders and we can do everything with
these folders including copying messages
into and out of them if for some reason
you want to disconnect this folder so
that it no longer pairs simply
right-click and choose close personal
