You can also use xvid

Make sure width and height are divisible by 2. Use fraps or taksi for games, don't be a retard and try to screencapture a dvd. For more info search "camstudio faq" on google.

Also try ffdshow tryouts. If it says error using default compressor make the width and height divisible by two of your recording area.

Post your video tutorials or misc screen recordings as reply videos. Riverpast and Camtasia are good too... but then again they're not free.

so you downloaded camstudio you open it

record audio from microphone to record
audio from speakers were will record
from stereo mix meaning that if you're
playing a game or something it will
capture the audio - that's coming from
your computer so we have it on record

i'm going to set the audio options to
audio options for microphone and i'm
going to reset it to a smaller format
I like using lame mp3
click Choose compressed format by
default its PCM if you have an MPEG
layer 3 around there i would recommend
you use that pc my guess is ok it's not
horrible but I like lame mp3 and makes
the videos a little bit smaller to
download lame mp3 you have to download

I like 7-zip you can use winzip or

lame mp3 as an option in this list 32
kilobits and 22 hurts mono is really

really small so you will have very

320 x 240 is the YouTube default size so
it's usually good enough
