How To: Download your photos from Google+ Auto backup (Old Method)

Note: Google have since stripped Photos from Google+ for some convoluted reason that involves fragmenting the entire system and making shit harder for the end user.

Currently your best option to rettreive your photos is to go to Google Takeout: https://www.google.com/settings/takeout
Then click [Create an Archive] then Untick everything, and tick "Google Photos", then click Edit, and you can select an individual album, the one you want is "Instant Upload"
Click [Done] then click [Create Archive]

A simple guide on downloading your backup pictures from G+, after your mobile device has met an unfortunate end.

Note: you don't need to tick each image, apparently you can "Click and Drag" to select multiple pictures at once. So if you click, Drag, and Scrollwheel down, you can select your entire collection in a matter of seconds.

Also, another method, which will download ALL of your autobackup is to go to https://www.google.com/settings/takeout

well and you remembered are good i was
using google plus auto backup to backup
all my photos so i haven't lost them but
I can't figure out how to download them
to my own computer
well let me show you and i'll even go
through the externship step of showing
you how to burn them to a CD as well
when you're done but you don't have to
do that now bring up Google Plus go to
him up here and then go to photos as
well just take you to the random
highlights page don't worry about that
now go two more
auto backup and as you can see here I've
just got a bunch of screenshots
generally from games and a couple of
photos like this Mustang here now we're
in the auto backup folder these
everything that has been auto backed up
to your device to do your google account
none of these pictures the public can
see anything that's in your backup
folder only you can see our only I can
see these pictures and I specifically go
there sharing but we'll come to that
some other time
this is about downloading your pictures
mass over the pictures that you want to
download and you see this little take
appears in the top corner of it ticket
and it'll become blue take all the ones
that you wish to download i'm only going
to do three for the stairs just to save
time but you can do as many as you want
once you've selected all the pictures
you wish to download to your local
computer up here and click more then
click download

and it's done so now we open that zip
file and here they are open up my
pictures or wherever you wish to store
things hours you know making your photo
call it whatever you want and then just
select drag and drop your pictures out
of the zip file into the folder and
there they are done they are saved on
your local computer you still have the
copy and auto backup just in case your
computer happens to meet an unfortunate
end but now that's it there any computer
you can do whatever you want with him
now
so you want to go the extra step of
burning them to a CD
well that's easy select right click send
to your DVD or CD drive then simply just
follow the prompts the windows gives you
and it will create your CD with all the
pictures on it i hope this has been
