hello everyone this is YouTube media and
this video is finally going to be a
computer tutorial now this is actually
going to be a remake of a tutorial i
made almost three years ago but the
video quality and audio quality at the
time was really crappy and unless you've
been subscribed to me from the very
beginning
ninety percent of you have probably not
seen this software so i'm going to be
showing you how to turn your webcam into
a security camera using a free program
called door gem
now even if you have heard of this or
used it is still a really neat trick and
creative program that almost nobody has
made a tutorial on or used
so let's get started first off all the
links to download the software will be
in the description box below this video
now first off we need to create a new
file on your desktop so right click new
folder and just named actually folder so
just create a new folder and name it
whatever you want i'm just going to door
gym
we're going to use this later next open
up the door jamb software it's a really
small software is not david complex
doesn't take up space so all right once
it's open your web cam might turn on or
is not on you need to go and find your
webcam in his box here drop down box or
click source and it should be listed
right here internal or external webcam
it should be listed here under the video
devices everything else leave alone just
find your webcam then click ok now also
the preview button you can press preview
to give it a preview of your webcam and
make sure it's working you can see my
hand is in the way then just press it
again to exit out next jpeg compression
it might be set to 75
I suggest highly suggest you go down to
50 this is the quality will still be
really good quality it's all
identifiable you can see everything
clear it just makes it really small so
you can fit plenty of pictures on your
computer without worrying about taking
up space
next we need to go to store settings
button click Add check file click ok now
for the name you name it whatever i'll
just do door gem make sure and Abel has
a check next to it
interval is how often takes a picture 30
seconds is way too long so let's choose
three seconds
file name click the . button and this is
where we have to find that file on
a desktop that we just created so mine
was called door gym now next in the file
name right here
what you need to do is give it a name or
so let's see I i'll just do
door gym but whatever you put a name you
also want what you need to do is print
do percent uppercase G percent lower
case G so you can put your name of the
file and then the % g % g or you can do
just the % g % g has to be exactly like
that
uppercase and lowercase what this does
is gives each picture a date stamp the
year day month and time
so you know exactly when the shot was
taken and more when the person was in
your room or whatever then just go ahead
and click Save and make sure this is all
corresponding to what I have right here
on my screen click ok click close
next let's go to options make sure you
check use motion detection make
everything correspond to my screen right
here so make sure you use motion
detection is and able to click OK now
all you have to do now is just go ahead
and check auto capture and then whenever
you want to leave your room or house and
use this as a security camera you click
auto caption will automatically take a
picture
whenever it detects motion so you just
click Auto capture you can see right
here in the dialog box that said stored
successfully to the file location
I'm going to uncheck that now and we're
going to go to that door gem file and
here are the pictures right here you can
see it did take the picture of my hand
in front of the way and if we go to the
file name you can see right there this
is the date stamp it says 2011 01 is the
month of January 11 here is the day
January 11th at the military time so
this is a 13 would be 3 2 1 10 7pm and
12 seconds
that's really handy gives you all the
way down to this seconds so that's about
it that's how you turn your webcam into
a security cam really fun program
it's fun to catch people i don't know
whether your neighbors walking their dog
on your lawn
you're trying to find out who it is or
someone's going to your room or what
your cats are doing really great program
