Getting Started: The Basics of Editing a PDF Document

This video details how to edit text and graphics in your PDF file using the new Content Panel in Acrobat X.

hello there my name is John essence and
today i will be using Adobe Acrobat
professional to demonstrate to you how
we can edit a PDF document now i'm using
acrobat professional today although you
can use acrobat standard to perform most
of these edits as well i'll be showing
you about 15 different ways how we can
use acrobat successfully to add a
comment in the PDF because a lot of the
time all you've got is a PDF file so the
ability to edit PDF files these days is
really crucial so if I just open up the
exhibits guide here this is a sample PDF
file soon as it opens you'll see
straight away how the interface has
changed back to previous verses back
about they had a lot much of the more
the busier appearance in version 10 now
it's a lot cleaner simplistic

ok i also near the top right hand corner
have gone option to go into what we call
read mode so in there I can see straight
away that it just gives over to the
documents
ok so much cleaner much easier to
navigate as well close that down
I've got my tools back in the past if
you want to edit PDF file i had to go to
say they're the tools menu or the
advanced menu and basically
circumnavigate between the two but now
in version 10
I've got the tools pain across here i
can see this is open a lap I got
categories of tools like page based
tools so for example now
page 1 if one's actually crop out some
content I decide that I want to drop the
page so get rid of the strip on the top
so I just drag that out
ok I'm happy with that double click
ok and boom my pages cropped I could
also say take this four-page document to
page 1 2 3 4
I could take this document now i can
split it using my spectacular command
click on that once decided to split into
say for documents one page each ok to
that from simple clothes pages concept i
can now add a bookmark attach a file in
bed felt inside the PDF document added
document text okay previously added go
through about one to three options to be
able to select this now a document text
uma cursor into the page set the world
opportunities change that to the word
information
ok no technical grandma's there it just
works navigated to page three I got a
text in the bottom right-hand corner
change that route so I could put in the
woods green and lush parks in our paper
cheeky here

and bike-friendly two lines become three
text wrap okay of God happen as well
really easy to perform this heading at
the top so i want to reformat that now
is digger different color highlights it
right click properties
ok in properties I've got various
options fonts i can change the font size
or bigger 48 . word space in make it on
thin make a short fat to reclaim the way
I can do that just by dropdowns fell to
the color to orange Phil change the
color to the navy blue it close to that
just works i can also add new text
document hold down the Alt key click new
text okay / type this is you text
highlight it once again right-click
properties change things that the font i
make that maybe 45 points problem is now
that it's gone off the page now i can
use the object tool can bring that back
into play i can see my taxi now I can
move that around I could do the same the
heading just maybe nudge that bit with
my left arrow key on the keyboard that
this text here for a marquee around it
drag that to the right so i could take
this image I could scale it down okay
can do that scale it down i could take
me as i can copy it
I could paste it ok so you copy and
paste we highlight them copy and i can
paste so you can see here that it's
really easy to take content and
duplicate copy pasted cut it i could
take this image I could copy that i
could go to page two
I could paste it so now I got the image
that was on page 3 on page to some other
things I can do as well maybe I wanted
to take this particular image here and
maybe I want to just slightly drop it
okay so maybe i'll get rid of some of
the images here
as opposed to before I drop the page now
I crop the image so I'll just
right-click i'll say set clip I'll go to
a corner handle I'll just drag that down
i let go and then you can see here by
physically drop down for when it was
previously so really clever intuitive
way that I can move objects around scale
and rotate them clipped them as well
maybe on page one asked you want to
bring in a new logo so i'll just do a
right-click place image image type maybe
I want to go and bring the jpg gif a
pink violet if I step King logo open to
that comes in and bump and once again
this one might need to be crops i'll
just go in here and say set clip come
down just drop that there and just come
down just proper upwards so now I've
actually dropped out the whitespace top
and bottom really clever way that i can
do that just using some permutations
their of the head object to turn the
color from color to black and white once
again right-click this type properties
just move across the color tab to say
gray in the drop-down a covert color it
close i convert the color i can also do
things on a page base basis
click on the pages panel I can move
pages around here change the order click
on a page is delete it about I take
another document drag it into the pages
panel here let go three pages become 50
so that's a short example of some of the
ads I can perform now in adobe acrobat
professional much easier than previous
versions easy to access tools inside the
tools pain so I think you'll agree that
it's a much improved version it's much
cleaner smarter and it is generally much
easier to use
