This video tutorial demonstrates how to create an EAN-128 barcode with two Application Identifiers delimited by FNC1.
Then we focus on how to import data from an external CSV file (created with Microsoft Excel) in order to create multiple barcode image files at once. And finally you learn how the export multiple barcodes to image files. Barcodes can be exported as BMP, PNG, JPG, GIF, TIF, EPS (Encapsulated Postscript), PDF and WMF/EMF.

This video provides a short overview on how to use Barcode Studio.
First I'll show you how to create an EAN128 code using application identifiers.
Then we'll take a look at importing data from a CSV file
and finally how to generate multiple barcodes at once.
Let's get started by double clicking on the Barcode Studio icon.
The default bar code, Code 128, is displayed.
In this section you can enter the barcode data and adjust various barcode parameters.
Here on the right you can select the barcode symbology.
Barcode Studio creates more than 100 different linear and 2D codes.
In the Status area important information about the expected barcode quality is displayed.
Now let's create an EAN128 barcode by selecting it from the list.
The barcode data contains two application identifiers.
The first application identifier identifies the batch number, represented by the number 10.
Then I enter the actual batch number.
The second application identifier is for the production date, represented by the number 11.
Finally I enter the production date in the correct format.
In the human readable text you see that the application identifier for the batch number is automatically enclosed in parentheses.
The application identifier for the production date is not in parentheses.
This is because the batch number needs to be terminated with a special separator character called FNC1.
To do so place the cursor before the application identifier 11 and right-click.
Then select FNC1 from the menu.
A backslash F is inserted which is Barcode Studio's placeholder for FNC1.
The application identifier 11 is now marked correctly.
Before saving the barcode image I adjust the required output resolution.
Checking Optimal Size ensures that Barcode Studio adjusts the module width of the barcode to match the output resolution.
The Quality Watch informs you about the expected barcode quality as well.
Finally, I save the barcode as vector image file.
I enter the file name, select EPS format and click Save.
To create multiple barcodes at once you can import the barcode data from an external file.
I use a CSV file created with Microsoft Excel.
This file contains two columns:
The first one is for the barcode data, the second column is optional - it contains the file name of the created barcode.
To import the file switch to the Data List, remove the existing data entry and click Import...
Enter the file name.
A preview of the data is displayed immediately.
Now instruct Barcode Studio to use the second column of the import file for the file names of the barcodes.
Confirm with OK.
Open the export dialog by clicking Export...
Enter the destination path for the barcode images and select the required file format.
Start the export by clicking OK.
I open the output directory and here you can see the generated barcode images.
