ignore dates causes file dates not to be
compared if the file name and file size
are the same as the opposite side file
the files are considered equal even if
the dates do not
match ignore 2 seconds date difference
is used if the dates of the files and
folders being compared are very similar
but not identical and you do not want
such dates to cause the files to be
marked as different the same applies to
sizes and the ignore file size
differences
option the next option allows you to
ignore aliases uncheck include aliases
to make diral ignore all
aliases if you enable resolve aliases
the dates and sizes of the files that
the aliases point to will be compared
this means that aliases that have
different dates or sizes but point to
files with identical dates and sizes
will be treated as
identical compare metadata causes di
equal to compare finder extended
attributes press the start button to
start comparing folders dirl allows you
to view the contents of both compared
folders in one list the result of the
comparison of each file and folder is
presented as an icon you can find the
meaning of these icons in the legend
window if you expand a folder while
holding down the ALT key all subfolders
containing differences will be
expanded the filter section allows you
to display only files that are different
the same or appear only in the left or
right
folder these buttons allow you to go to
the next SL previous file that is
different in the left and right
folders clicking the comparison result
icon will display compared item
statistics double clicking on this icon
will Mark the file or folder as ignored
ignored files will not be copied even if
you click that the folder containing
them should be copied you can hide all
ignored items using the filter button
to copy a file or folder or delete it
you need to set the appropriate action

action by clicking on the dot next to

item to be copied to the opposite folder
from left to right or vice
versa if you hold alt while clicking on
the dot you will select the file to
delete and if you hold shift you can set
the action to copy with rename name to
delete the action click the dot
again to select all items that are
different for copying or deleting hold
down the command key and click the dot
next to parent
folder to set actions for a group of
files select the group of items and
click the dot of one of them
you can also rightclick on the dot and
select an action from the context
menu you can delete all actions by
clicking the action button and holding
down the ALT
key to perform the defined actions click
the execute actions button in the new
window you will see all files and
folders that will be copied or deleted
click the execute button to confirm and
perform all actions if errors occur
during copying the appropriate icon will
be displayed next to the item hover the
mouse cursor over the error icon to see
the error description in this example

purposes dirl lets you automatically
connect folders to do this click the
sync button and choose how you want to
copy different files you can read about
the differences between mirror sync and
update sync by clicking the information
buttons in this window the overview
button will highlight the actions that
will be
performed to compare two selected files
or folders doubleclick the selected item
in the preferences you can change what
happens when you doubleclick an item
where the comparison is displayed how
the arrow keys work etc
DL also allows you to compare files
files can be compared as text or binary
select the file type or Mark is
automatic the file type selection option
determines the algorithm for comparing
these files binary Qui makes a quick
comparison of the file contents and
displays a short message whether the
files are equal or
different the buttons at the bottom
allow you to jump between differences in
the file the third button blocks
horizontal scrolling of both files so
you can scroll through both files at the
same
time it often happens that you don't
want to compare all files or folders
that are in the folders you are
comparing take this situation for
example to exclude files with the
extensionist and the folder test one
from the comparison we will use the
excluded folders
option we will drag the folder that we
do not want to compare you can also drag
it from the finder window and add the
extensionist of the files we do not
want now if we compare the folders again
we will notice that there are no longer
any pist files or the test one subfolder
in our list the folder result list can
be exported to a CSV file and then
loaded in any CSV editor such as
numbers if we open the exported CSV file
in numbers we will see a text
representation of our
comparison diil allows you to create
save and read folder snapshots this
allows you to compare the contents of
folders after some time has passed since
the snapshot was taken let's take a
snapshot of any folder and save it to
the
desktop now we can use this snapshot
file like a regular folder and compare
it with another folder
