AKVIS Retoucher: Repairing An Old Portrait

This tutorial shows how to use AKVIS Retoucher to repair an old black and white portrait by removing scratches and other undesired areas.

today we'll use Aus retoucher on this
old black and white portrait to remove
some
scratches and the seam on the wall I'll
use the select brush and resize
it selected areas are highlighted in
red to save some time I've already
selected the scratches and exported them
to a
file next I'll switch to advanced mode
activate
smoothing and deactivate fast processing
now I can start
processing retoucher reconstructs the
selected area based on information from
surrounding area
let's move on to the seam on the wall
the seam should be selected as well as
the Shadows where the wall is uneven
I've also already selected it and
exported the selection to a file which I
can import
now I'll use the same settings as before
and begin processing the
selection as the selection is processed
you can see the progress in image window
it's done well but upon closer
inspection I see some small areas I can
fix retoucher has some manual correction
tools that will help I'll select the
Clone stamp
tool and resize
it next I'll choose a source area by
holding down the ALT key and left
clicking over it then I'll left click
again over the areas I want to correct
I'll follow the same steps to repair
this
area the Clone stamp smoothly applies
the image characteristics of the source
area over the
defix another photo restored with aice
