Hello everyone, this video is about how
to compress your video file for e-mail.
Videos files are often too large to send
via e-mail due to attachment size limit,
which is usually up to 25 megabytes.
For example, when I try to attach a video
in Gmail, if the video file is over
25 megabytes, it will be uploaded to
cloud service and send a download link
instead of the file itself.
So how long is a 25 megabytes video?
On average, it's about five minutes long if
it's in standard definition or three
minutes long in high definition or only
90 seconds in full HD. Quite restrict, right?
Therefore, to get enough compression,
it's best to use a professional video compression software,
Cisdem Video Compressor.
Handbrake and online tool are viable for short videos
only. Next are detailed steps.
First, you can click the program link in the Description
to download Cisdem Video Compressor and install it.
I've already done it and here is how it
looks like when you launch it.
Then, import your video file to it. You have
two options, drag the video to the
interface or click the add icon here to
browse and find the video, then click Open.
When the video is added, you can view its original and output information,
the format, resolution, and size.
Then click the
percentage box. Here you can choose how
much you want to reduce the file size.
70% is an optimized value for
preserving quality. You can adjust it to
a lower value until it fits the target
file size, such as 25 megabytes.
You can also click the Gear icon here to
adjust compression options in detail.
Here I adjust the max output file size as
25 megabytes. You can also
transcode the video with a more
compressed codec such as
H.265 and AV1 to
reduce the file size without losing
quality, but it may take longer.
Reducing the frame rate and resolution will also help shrink the file.
Audio configuration is also available if needed.
Click OK to save your settings.
Then, you can click the Preview button to preview the
first 20 seconds of the video after compression.
If you feel the quality is fine, then
select a folder to save output file and
click the Start button here to begin the
video compression process.
When it completed, it will locate the
compressed file for you automatically.
Let's check the file size. It has been
reduced from 69 MB to 20 MB, 70% smaller,
perfect to send for any e-mail. And
the picture quality still looks good.
If your video is no longer than 10 minutes,
another tool you can use is HandBrake. It's free and open source,
available for Windows and Mac.
First, import the video to HandBrake.
Then go to the Preset drop-down list,
scroll down to the Web section, select an E-mail option.
My video is over five minutes, so I
select the e-mail 25 megabytes, 10 minutes profile.
You can hover your mouse over each option to view the description.
On the right side, you can also preview the visual quality.
Then click the green Start button on the top to start compressing
the video. It will take a few minutes.
When it finished, you can check the
output file size here in the Queue.
It's now only 12 MB.
The last method is to use an online tool
called 8MB, but it limits the max video
length to five minutes. If your video is over five minutes,
it will display an error message.
First, go to 8MB.video site on any browser.
Then, click Browse to upload the video
file and choose 25 MB
as the maximum output file size.
Here in the options section, you can tick
Remove all sound, Skip seconds, Auto
download when done, etc. depending on your needs.
Then click the green button to start
uploading and compressing the video.
File's done.
When complete, download the compressed file to your device.
The video is now reduced to about 20 MB.
Thanks for watching this video.
