Today we are walking through Picture
Echo, a tool designed to help you find
and manage duplicate visually similar
photos across your devices and cloud
storage without manual searching. Once
you open Picture Echo, you're already
automatically in system scan where you
can choose folders from your system.
This is the folder I want to scan.
I will use the recommended similarity
threshold which is mine. But you can
make it more strict or you can make it
more broad.
You can also choose what kind of scan
you want to do. A similar scan for
visual matches or a very exact pixel
perfect duplicate scan. If you choose
this one, you don't have to choose the
threshold. We'll focus on the similar
scan for today. And let's start our
scan.
My scan is complete. Starting from the
top, you can see what time you did the
scan, what type of scan did you do, what
mode did you select, and what threshold
did you select. You can see that picture
echo have already found all the
duplicates and made them into different
groups. You can sort the duplicates by
photo count or recoverable space or just
by default. You can select one photo at
a time or you can select whole group at
a time. And the best part, you can also
do bug selection. There are five
different options. You can keep the
oldest image. You can keep the newest
image or the largest image. You can keep
the highest resolution or the lowest
resolution image and delete everything
else. For today, I will keep all new
images.
This means that Picture Echo will just
keep my newest and latest version and
delete all the old versions. After
selecting my images, I can move them to
another folder. I can send them to the
recycle bin or I can permanently delete
them.
On the bottom, you can also see how many
pictures I've selected, how many groups
were there, how many duplicates were
found, and how much wasted space I was
able to save. I also want to show you
guys a very interesting thing. For
example, before deleting or recycling my
photos, I accidentally close the
software.
I just need to open the software again
and my results will be there with all
the selections that I've made without
any changes. Now I will just delete my
photos.
Now we can check out library scan.
Library scan helps you scan your photo
libraries from Adobe Lightroom or your
even old Windows photos. The process is
also same. You can choose your scan mode
similar or exact. You choose your
threshold and then you just scan
library. This is not just limited to
Windows. You can get your photos from
Mac library as well. So these were the
main two types of scan system and
library. You also have empty folders
where you can add a path and search for
empty folders.
I have chosen my path and let's scan for
empty folders.
It has found one empty folder to delete.
So you can simply select
and move the empty folder to your
recycle bin.
It will also help you to scan in case
you missed any empty folder.
All good.
Lastly, we have cloud scan. The cloud
scan is for pro users where you can
connect your Dropbox, Google Drive, One
Drive, and Amazon to search for
duplicated. Moving on to other features.
The software has a dark mode and a light
mode. You can move on to settings. In
settings, you can find scan inclusions,
which means that these folders won't be
scanned during your analysis. You can
add more folders that you don't want to
be scanned. Next, you have your action
history, which shows how many files were
deleted, when, and how. Next, you can
also check for updates and make sure
that your software is always up to date.
