You have a movie or video saved as an ISO file.
You double-click it, and... nothing happens.
Sure, VLC Media Player can open it,
but most devices and video editors
can't work with ISO files directly.
In this video, I'll show you how to
convert ISO to MKV using Cisdem VideoPaw.
An ISO file is a complete digital copy of a
DVD or Blu-ray disc. It preserves the original
disc structure and contains all the content,
including video, audio, subtitles, and menus.
Converting it to MKV extracts the main video into
a flexible file that's easy to play and manage.
Now let’s see how to do it.
Cisdem VideoPaw is an all-in-one
multimedia toolkit that can rip and convert DVD
and Blu-ray ISO files into MKV and other formats.
The download link is in the description below.
Since my ISO file is a DVD image, I'll
use the DVD Ripper module to load it.
Step 1: Load your ISO file.
Click on DVD Ripper, then drag your ISO
file directly into the interface. You
can also click “Load DVD” and browse to select it.
Step 2: Select the titles you want to convert.
Once the scan is complete, VideoPaw displays
all titles found in the ISO file and selects
them by default. You can uncheck the ones
you don't need. If you're not sure what a
title contains, click the play button
to preview it. For movie ISO files,
the longest and largest title
is usually the main feature.
Step 3: Choose your audio and subtitle tracks.
Here you can select which audio track and
subtitles you want to include in the output file.
If your ISO contains multiple
languages, pick the one you need.
You can also rename the file here
if the default name isn't clear.
Step 4: Choose MKV as your output format.
Look at the bottom of the window. Click the
format panel, then go to Video and select MKV.
If you want to save storage space,
choose HEVC MKV. It offers similar
quality at about half the file size, but
the conversion will be a little slower.
Step 5: Edit your video (optional).
If you want to make any edits,
VideoPaw offers some basic editing
tools. Click the pencil icon next to
a title to open the editing window.
For example, you can import local
subtitle files to add subtitles.
And you can add chapters for easier navigation.
When you're done, save your
changes. Otherwise, skip this step.
Step 6: Start the conversion.
Click the Convert button to start. You'll see
a progress ring that fills up as the conversion
runs. When it's done, the ring turns into a blue
checkmark. Click it to open your output folder.
And that's how to convert an ISO
file to MKV. Thanks for watching.
