Double-click convert QuarkXPress Documents macOS Default App
Double-click convert QuarkXPress documents, with macOS default app, QXPMarkz: Double click, to convert QuarkXPress (.qxp) documents to Adobe InDesign (.indd), Affinity Publisher (.afpub), Adobe Illustrator (.ai), Acrobat (.pdf), or IDML (InDesign Markup Language), on your macOS system!
Markzware's stand-alone QXPMarkz (QuarkXPress to IDML) application replaces the Q2ID InDesign plug-in and allows users to open QuarkXPress in InDesign, Affinity Publisher, older QuarkXPress versions, and more:

An easy way to convert your .QXP, QuarkXPress documents is to simply double-click any .QXP file on your computer, and it will automatically convert to IDML, InDesign, Affinity Publisher or much more! This is a literal, one-click process, after a brief set-up, to open QuarkXPress in default apps:
Step 1
Set macOS File Association, via File Info, to “Open With” QXPMarkz, instead of QuarkXPress (which will be the default, if you own Quark). You do not need the Quark's layout application, for our QuarkXPress converter to work.
Step 2
Select “Change All” just under the field in Step 1.
Step 3
Open QXPMarkz and go to File-Preferences and choose the "Automation" tab.
Step 4
Set that to “On Document Open” to “Export” to IDML.
Step 5
In the same Automation preferences panel, select “On Export” and specify the application to which you want to convert and open the resulting IDML in, such as Adobe InDesign or Affinity Publisher.
Step 6
Double-click any .QXP QuarkXPress document on your computer, get a Preview, and watch it open for you, in your application of choice!

It is that easy to modify your DTP workflow to open QuarkXPress files in other publishing applications. Just set the QXPMarkz preferences, as shown. Ensure that QXPMarkz is the default application for .qxp files, on your macOS, as demonstrated. (If QuarkXPress isn’t on the system, QXPMarkz will likely already be default.)
Now, when you double click a QuarkXPress file in the Finder, QXPMarkz will launch, open the .qxp file, convert it to IDML, open that IDML in the default editor (or you could set a specific app to open the IDML), and then close the document in QXPMarkz. This all happens automatically, after the initial click!
