Converting Scanned PDF to Searchable PDF on Mac OS X (OCR)

this is a short demonstration to show
how you can convert a scanned PDF into a
searchable PDF on mac OS x using PDF OCR
X so I'm starting off here with my
scanned PDF scan from a paper copy
you'll notice that i can't select and
text I can't search for anything c
company and you'll see it doesn't come
up even though i can see the company is
right there it should find company the
reason it doesn't find anything is
because this is just a scanned image
even though I see text there's no text
embedded in the page so i'm going to use
PDF Oh CRX to convert this to a
searchable PDF so go i have my PDF Oh
CRX that downloaded from the website
open it up and there we go I've got the
PDF OCR x window i'm going to drag my
little PDF icon into the window there
and it says loading please wait just
processing the PDF and says one file
with one page selected so I only one
page and I can choose either text or
searchable PDF output format i choose
searchable PDF the text will extract the
text into a plain text document that i
can edit but it won't make the PDF
searchable so i click convert and it's
just take a moment here when it is done
I now have my PDF it is saved a copy of
the PDF with the . searchable . PDF in
the same directory where the PDF is
located and it's opened it for me so now
you try to search for company in this
and you can see it found company their
page 1 if it was a really big PDF i
could use the Enterprise Edition and
would find all the instances and all the
pages so this has been a short
demonstration of creating a searchable
PDF from a scan PDF using PDF Oh CRX
