Using Google's Translator Toolkit

This is a basic demonstration on how to get started in Google's Translator's Toolkit.

BYU Spanish Interpreters is a Y-Serve organization at Brigham Young Universtity that is dedicated to facilitating communication between local organizations along the Wasatch Front and those of the Spanish-speaking community.

over a little bit how to use google
translator toolkit to help lass be able
to translate for some of the local
organizations that we work with so first
off go to translate google com at the
bottom here you click on the link
translator toolkit this take you
automatically to this page since i'm
open up in my you know here if you're
not logged onto you really have to login
you'll need a google account to use this
but mostly already have that so not a
big problem right
alright today we're going to work on
this document right here historical
document you'll see that it says that
it's six percent complete has 7660 three
words and was last modified at
seven-thirty 9am go ahead and click on
that it'll pull the document here you
turn the left is the original text in
English and on the right you have your
translation pain and spanish now since
I've already kind of superior working on
this it will pull up what's called a
translation segment the way these
translation signature setup is just by
line automatic on the right here there
will be a machine translation so on the
Left we have we the people of the United
States here on the right
nosotros or play with that of the
Thousand Needles
alright so this on the right we're going
to make all the changes that we want to
make instead of saying I feel before
march for example i think going into
fein day for tomorrow is a little bit
better so we'll do that just make that
change in that window there as soon as
you're done click on the next arrow or
if you like hot keys ctrl J works as
well that will move us automatically to
the next translation segment as you see
here you have this line is the next
translation segment so says established
justicia as they were electrically
valiant aranur we're lucky moon here we
have a problem
this is for the common defense that's
divided up into different translation
segments how we can get around that is
my first splitting and then merging
segments will come to edit
it splits segment market wherever we
want to split it will include all that
right there and click ok now as we wrote
k through them either by clicking or by
using ctrl J or control
k is the previous one you'll see that
they're different segments you have a
problem though in this segment doesn't
belong with that same and so will copy
delete go to the next one and we'll
paste that looks a lot better but we do
have our missing translation there as
well as 40 divided upcoming let's divide
this one up as well so we'll go to edit
split segment how we get down to provide
perfect and we'll get rid of lock moon
so it's just program and I'll see that
these next two segments are blank on the
right side but before we actually
translate that
let's combine so we'll go to edit again
instead of split segments gonna merge
merge with the next we'll say provide
the common defense will be one segment
see you can see in the left pane here
that it's all combined into one one
segment and so will translate in spanish
by the fencer corner perfect so I think
now you've got kind of a general grasp
of what to do is really pretty easy to
translate a document like this and
translator toolkit has given us another
resource and go up here to show toolkit
and that the actual toolkit has some
useful tools in it for example the
automatic translation search will
automatically look for what's right
there and here it has one so we could
just use this translation although i
think that's hard when it's using we can
click on that it'll replace whatever is
in this box with that translation or we
can just follow the computer translation
alright well I think that's good brief
introduction you can also use a custom
translation church and I think like that
was good

things to use for translator toolkit
just play around with it if you do have
