add a feature
alright so in here we should see the
Windows Server backup features you want
to choose both of them
so we're just checked the first one
Windows Server backup features and check
also a command line tools on track to

powershell feature
go ahead and those additional features
now we have windows Rebecca features and

your features have been installed close
this we're going to take a look at the
actual GUI command line tools and we can

it runs out of space and to it makes for
our easy location and restore backups

alright so back up the entire volume and
next choose the type of stores for the
backup
ok so we're going to do a local drive
so we're going to back it up to another
dr water
and backup destination would be good and
next choose what type of volume Shadow
Copy Service back up you want to create
a VSS copy back up or adss pull back up
this option if you're not using any
other backup product to back up your
applications
this means i know the third party backup
program like symantec backup exec things
like that so we want to do the full
backup
that way it'll actually clear the hard
drive it
the attribute next and we'll use it back
up
we should see it
now the benefit of the volume shadow
copies is because it will backup files
that are open by users in the past
backup programs would get locked up or
what skip files that were open by users
like somebody stayed locked in and
afterward document open all night long
the bottom shadow copy will be able to
still back up that five
you're going to have an old one and the
other words you're skipping your goal on
476 errors looking to be like file open
and let's call 476 file or open it and
get back up so that would not be good
so a complete right wasn't too bad it

let's explore the back of volume and see
what we have there
it is windows image backup on their
personal waves and there's my catalog is
the list of files that were backed up
there
txt files are used by the backup program
and then here's the actual back up and
again they're xml files
xml files and here's the actual backup

if you have previous backups down here
earlier in the month and so for it next
when you want to recover files and
folders for the entire volume we can do
the entire volume if you chose files and
folders you can browse in and choose
specific files that you want to restore
specific folder so that way you're not
having to restore these are volume and
replace folders of people that are like
I find myself is there are just
restoring folders of people that had
things
deleted or removed by accident so for
this example we'll just throw the entire
bawling and the entire data volume good
disposition
we're going to put it back on the data
volume and cover
every cover
restoring those files and if we go take
a look at our computer and drive to
start seeing older show up on the drum

show our computer down
destroy it
we are now going 26 this is running a
virtual machine
we're not going to we're not going to
actually delete our virtual hard disk
we're just going to create another one
and then rename the old one
so now that that is shut down
yeah so I have a 32 gigabyte hard disk
so that's what I have to create so what
I'm going to do is I'm going to explore
my D Drive
and I store these under our sin ok
and I have windows server right here
this is my personal disk so i'm going to
rename these
put dad in front of it
so now i'm going to go back to my vmware
edit my virtual machine settings and in
my settings
my first disc it says you can't find it
a bit and I'm going to add another disk
virtual disk busy make this three gig
and i'm just going to put - new so I
know that this is a new file finish now
we have our you just back in there

and I want to make sure that my c drive
is using the windows 2000 server 2008
iso file and click boot off the CD is
loading files
