this is Helen Wilkie with an online
lesson and business rating and in this
lesson i'll show you how to set out the
eight component parts of a standard
business later we're going to start with
the return address this is the address
of the person or the company who's
sending the letter and it's usually in
the middle at the top and fight it might
be part of the company's and I the
letterhead so let's do it that way so
this would be the Navy company and
they're located at 231 and any state for
1109 you ate now as I said that should
be in the center and it usually will be
if it's part of the letter hip now the
next part that we will put is the date
of the letter now that usually comes
down about two or three lanes down from
the from the address and now we're going
back over to the left margin you
sometimes we'll see it over here but
most usually know the standards to
habitat the left margin so I'm going to
take today's date which is collaborating
10 to eat and then the next thing is the
inside address and become known two
lines from the deep and we put in it
which is really the name and address of
the person who's receiving the letter so
let's see this on any other turn any
other state 443 you and that's my inside
address the next part is the salutation
and that comes two more lines . now the
salutation is the dear life and is still
standard to priority really knows why we
start latest with dear but use it still
is the standard and usually the best way
to put it is just dear
could be deer if we if it's a lady of
course would be diem is Smith that was
generally accepted one if we're waiting
to accompany we don't know the name of
the person then we put deer cervus a
bleak stroke made am the punctuation
after the deer after the salutation in
north america is generally the colon
although in in some other countries
particularly in great britain you will
see a comma both are acceptable and no
one into the actual body of the letter
this is whether this is where the
content of your letter actually goals so
I'm just going to type something very
fast here
thank you to your knees companies city
new paragraph two lanes in 10 years
ok so that's the body of the letter and
I've got it divided into two paragraphs
because it's very short after the board
if we have what's called the
complimentary close now we come down two
lanes and here we're going to put your
ceiling cama cama know it can be your
soups and seal it can be sincerely it
can be yours truly
it can even be yours faithfully any of
these work and just use the one that
your company generally uses may even be
regards and now we need a signature here
so what we do is we leave about four to
six lanes here for the person to
handwrite the signature on the people
do it but six lanes for that and then we
have to take the name of the person who
wrote the letter so let's put this this
would be Robert president you don't
always have to put a title that some
people prefer it that we notice there's
no more mr. here you just put the
person's name so that is how the
standard business letter looks when you
tape it and you can see it's nice and
crisp crystally though it's professional
and that's the way you want it if you'd
like to seem to know more about business
