Tansee Android Message Transfer for Mac: Save Android Texts and WhatsApp as PDF
Tansee Android Message Transfer for Mac is a $19.95-a-year macOS app that copies SMS, MMS, RCS and WhatsApp messages from an Android phone to your Mac, then saves them as PDF or text files or prints them. It's for people who need a readable record of their conversations on a Mac, not just another phone backup.
Google's backup restores your texts to a new phone, which is fine until you need to hand a conversation to a lawyer, keep a late parent's messages or file a long chat with a landlord. Then you need a document with dates, times and pictures in it. That's the gap Tansee fills, and it works without a USB cable.

Before you buy
- Try the free demo with your own phone first. It shows whether your phone connects and how your conversations come out.
- Windows and Mac are separate products. A Windows license won't register this Mac version.
- The phone app is required. It installs from tansee.com or the Samsung Galaxy Store.
- The Download button gets the Intel build. On an Apple silicon Mac that needs Rosetta. Tansee's product page also offers a Universal build for macOS 11 or later.

Overview
Tansee has two halves. The Mac app does the saving and printing, and a phone app called Tansee Message Transfer reads the messages and sends them across your local network. There's no cloud step, so your messages travel only between your phone and your Mac and are stored on your Mac.
The connection screen (shown in version 2.1.0): install the phone app, then enter its WLAN connection code on the Mac, or use a mobile hotspot.
Features
Copy texts, RCS and WhatsApp to the Mac
Tansee Android Message Transfer copies SMS, MMS and RCS conversations, group messages and dual-SIM messages, along with WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business chats. Photos, videos and audio attachments can be saved to your Mac as ordinary files.
A conversation in the Mac app (version 2.1.0), with date and time beside each message and saved Tansee backups listed on the left.
Save as PDF, text or a Tansee backup
Tansee Android Message Transfer saves whole conversations or just the messages you find with search. Choose PDF for something you can share, text for something small, or Tansee's TFSA backup file, which you can open again later in the app without the phone.
Print chats the way they look on the phone
Tansee Android Message Transfer prints messages with bubbles, timestamps and attached photos. The print options let you skip images and videos, change the text size, and show or hide the Tansee logo.
The print dialog (version 2.1.0), with options to ignore images and videos, add the Tansee logo and set the font size.
Save Facebook Messenger chats as PDF
Tansee Android Message Transfer also has a Read Messenger Messages entry in the sidebar, which lets you save and print Facebook Messenger conversations as PDF files with their attachments.
Benefits
- A record you can hand to someone else. A PDF with dates and pictures works where a phone backup doesn't.
- No cable or drivers. Wi-Fi or a phone hotspot is all it needs.
- Your messages stay private. Tansee isn't connected to any cloud storage, so everything ends up on your own Mac.
Real-World Uses
- A tenant prints a year of texts with a landlord for a dispute.
- A family keeps a PDF of a late relative's messages and photos.
- A small business owner files customer WhatsApp chats as PDFs on a Mac.
- Someone changing phones saves a Tansee backup of conversations before wiping the old one.
Who It's For, and Who Should Skip It
Tansee Android Message Transfer fits Mac owners with an Android phone who need messages as documents.
Skip it if you only want your texts on your next Android phone, since Google's own backup does that for free. Skip it if your phone is on Android 7 or older. Also skip it if you can't connect both devices to the same network or a phone hotspot. If you use a Windows PC, buy the Windows version instead.
Usage Guide
- Install and open Tansee Android Message Transfer on the Mac.
- On the phone, open tansee.com/get in the browser and install Tansee Message Transfer.
- Put both devices on the same WLAN, or join the Mac to the phone's hotspot. Tansee often connects by itself; otherwise type the code from the phone into the Mac and click Connect.
- On the phone, tap Read SMS, MMS & RCS messages, or the WhatsApp option. Grant the permissions and set Tansee as the default SMS app. You'll be prompted to switch back afterward.
- Choose the messages, tap Send Messages To Computer and keep the phone's screen on.
- On the Mac, click Save or Print.
Where it falls short
- Connection trouble is the main risk. Tansee's help page suggests updating both apps, restarting both devices and turning off the phone's Data Saver. Some phones grey out hotspot or tethering options.
- WhatsApp takes extra work. You choose a local WhatsApp backup and enter a 64-digit encryption key. A normal password-protected backup isn't enough, and Tansee's guide shows how to create the right kind.
- The default SMS app swap makes some people nervous. It's required to read all messages, so remember to switch back when prompted.
- Independent reviews are missing. We couldn't find a magazine test or a store rating for this Mac version.
What Users Say
Customer comments on Tansee's site
Tansee's review page uses masked names, and it's the vendor's own selection, so these can't be checked independently.

US-Reviews: Tansee as a company
US-Reviews lists 9 reviews of Tansee products, none about this Android version, with 67% saying they'd buy again. Four are negative, mostly about crashes in its iOS tools. Gina Kulas wrote of a photo tool, "Every time I attempted to transfer my photos, the software would crash". Others were happier: "It's super simple to use, works quickly, and is dependable." (Wolf, on the iPhone message tool)
The pattern: the praise is about ease of use and printing, but it comes from the vendor's own page. Treat the free demo as your real review.
Comparisons
Tansee vs Google's backup and Messages for web
Google backs up your texts so they can be restored to a new Android phone, and Messages for web lets you read and send texts in a browser. Neither makes a PDF of a conversation or prints it with dates and pictures, and that document output is what you pay Tansee for.
Editions and Pricing
| License | Price | Term | Covers |
| 1-year license (this one) | $19.95 | 1 year, renewed manually | 1 Mac, unlimited Android phones |
| 3-year license | $29.95 | 3 years, renewed manually | 1 Mac, unlimited Android phones |
Tansee shows these as sale prices against $29.95 and $45. Both include free updates, and a separate Business License is available. If you'll want this again next year, the 3-year license is the better buy, but it's sold on Tansee's own site.

System Requirements
- Mac: macOS 11 or later (Universal build), or macOS 10.14.6 or later (Intel build, Rosetta needed on Apple silicon)
- Phone: Android 8 to Android 17 with the Tansee Message Transfer app
- Connection: the same WLAN, or the phone's mobile hotspot

Conclusion
Tansee Android Message Transfer for Mac is worth $19.95 if you need your Android conversations as documents and you own a Mac. The one reason to buy it is that it turns a chat into a dated, printable PDF without a cable or a cloud service. The main reason not to is that it's a yearly license with few independent reviews, so use the free demo on your actual phone first.
