Driver updater plus SSD Speeder, System Booster and System Cleanup tools

Driver Genius Platinum: Driver Updates Plus SSD, Startup and Cleanup Tools for Windows

Driver Genius Platinum is a $25.95-a-year Windows driver updater for 3 PCs that adds three tune-up tools to the full driver kit: SSD Speeder, System Booster and System Cleanup. It's for people who want driver updates, driver backups and a basic Windows clean-up in one program instead of three.

Picture a two-year-old laptop: a few drivers out of date, a C: drive that keeps filling up with logs and crash dumps, Start menu "suggestions" you never asked for, and an NVMe drive you've never looked at. Driver Genius Pro handles the first problem. Platinum costs $6 more a year and goes after the other three.

What we checked: the price on the order page ($25.95 for Driver Genius Platinum, 1 year + 60 days / 3 PCs), that the Platinum Buy Now button on driver-soft.com leads to that same product, and the 19.2 MB installer DriverGenius_Setup_26.0.exe downloaded from driver-soft.com (file version 26.0), all on November 2, 2026. We didn't run a driver scan or the tune-up tools on our own PC.

Overview

Driver Genius comes in three editions that share one installer: Free, Pro and Platinum. Your license code decides which features you get. Platinum is the top one. It has every driver tool Pro has (updates, automatic updates, rollback, backup, one-click restore, offline update, cleanup, hardware information) and adds a System Optimize set of three tools that work on Windows itself rather than on drivers.

Version 26 gave each of those tools something new: SSD Speeder can switch on the Windows 11 native NVMe driver, System Booster can export and import your settings, and System Cleanup can clear the Intel driver cache. The Toolkit also got a "System Speedup" shortcut, and the vendor says the program starts up to 50% faster.

Features

SSD Speeder: TRIM, SSD-friendly settings and a power scheme

Driver Genius Platinum's SSD Speeder has three tabs. Drive Info shows a summary of the selected drive. System Optimization is a list of switches for SSD-related Windows settings: enable the TRIM command, Windows Prefetcher/Superfetch, disable background disk defragmentation, Device Initiated Power Management and keeping drivers and the system kernel in memory, with a Recommended Settings button and a Restore button.

The SSD Optimization tab runs a TRIM pass on the drive you pick (the app asks you to leave the PC idle for a few minutes while it runs) and sets an SSD power scheme: Power Saver, Balanced, Performance or Turbo. The app warns that Performance and Turbo raise the drive's power use and temperature.

The Windows 11 native NVMe driver switch (experimental)

Driver Genius Platinum 26 added an Enable Windows 11 Native NVMe Driver check box to SSD Speeder, marked Experimental. The app's own note says the native driver "significantly improves IOPS and reduces latency, but may cause some drives to become unrecognized", and tells you to back up your data first. Treat it as a switch for people who know what an NVMe driver is and have a backup, not a free speed boost.

System Booster: Windows tweaks you can undo

Driver Genius Platinum's System Booster gathers Windows settings into six tabs: Program, Desktop, File System, Network, Services and Windows 11. Each tweak is an on/off switch. The Windows 11 tab, for example, turns off File Explorer advertising, Windows tips and tricks, Start menu app suggestions and suggested content in Settings, and hides Most Used Apps in the Start menu. One button applies the recommended set, another puts everything back to the Windows defaults, and since version 26 you can export your choices and import them on another PC.

System Cleanup: junk files, on a schedule if you like

Driver Genius Platinum's Disk Cleanup tab lists what it can delete in ticked groups: Windows log files, error reports, diagnostics reports, crash dumps, telemetry data, temporary files, the Recycle Bin, recent items, driver installer temporary files and temporary Windows installation files. Riskier items (Windows events, update history, the previous Windows installation, Defender logs) start unticked. An Automatic Cleanup switch runs it as a scheduled task. Version 25 added the graphics driver cache to the list and version 26 the Intel driver cache, clutter a general-purpose cleaner tends to skip.

Remove (and bring back) built-in Windows apps

Driver Genius Platinum's Uninstall Apps tab lists the apps that come with Windows, each with an Uninstall and a Reinstall button, plus one button that reinstalls all of them. That reinstall option matters: removing the wrong preinstalled app (the Store, a media extension) is easy to undo here. A third tab, System Component, sits next to it.

The full driver kit from Driver Genius Pro

Everything driver-related is the same as in Pro. Driver Genius Platinum lists drivers with newer versions (date, version, release notes) and installs one or Update All, on demand or automatically. It makes a restore point and can roll back a single driver. It backs up drivers to a folder, a ZIP, a self-extracting file or a stand-alone EXE auto-installer and restores them with one click after a Windows reinstall. The offline driver update tool and System Transfer Assistant get a PC with no network driver back online. It also removes old driver packages and data left by hardware you've unplugged, and shows hardware details with CPU, graphics card and disk temperature monitoring.

Benefits

  • One license, one window, three PCs. Drivers, SSD settings, Windows tweaks and junk cleanup live in one program, and the license covers three machines.
  • Everything has an undo. Driver rollback and restore points for drivers, Restore for SSD Speeder, "Restore to Windows default settings" for System Booster, Reinstall for removed apps. That makes the tune-up tools less nerve-racking than most.
  • Same tweaks on every PC. System Booster's export and import let you set up one machine and copy the choices to the other two.
  • The cleanup knows about drivers. Old driver packages, driver installer temp files and the graphics and Intel driver caches all go in one pass.

Real-World Uses

  • The family laptop with a full C: drive. Run Disk Cleanup, clear the GPU driver cache, remove old driver packages, and switch on Automatic Cleanup so it doesn't fill up again.
  • A fresh Windows 11 install. Restore your backed-up drivers in one click, then apply System Booster's Windows 11 tab to turn off File Explorer ads and Start menu suggestions in a minute.
  • Setting up three similar PCs. Tune one with System Booster, export the settings, import them on the other two.
  • A laptop that runs hot. Use the hardware temperature alerts, and keep SSD Speeder's power scheme on Balanced or Power Saver instead of Turbo.

Who It's For, and Who Should Skip It

Buy Platinum if you want driver management and a basic Windows tune-up in one tool and you don't already own a PC cleaner. For $6 more than Pro, you get the three tools.

Skip it if all you want is driver updates and backups: Driver Genius Pro ($19.95 a year for 3 PCs) has every driver feature. Skip it too if you already use CCleaner, Advanced SystemCare or similar, since the cleanup and tweak tools would overlap. Mac users can't use it at all. And if you'd rather not touch Windows settings you don't understand, Windows' own Storage Sense and Optimize Drives cover the basics of cleanup and SSD TRIM for free.

Usage Guide

  1. Install: download DriverGenius_Setup_26.0.exe (about 19 MB) from driver-soft.com, run it, pick your language and accept the license. Setup downloads the latest driver database and program files.
  2. Register: the license code arrives by email, usually within 5 minutes of ordering (check the spam folder). In Driver Genius, choose Help, then Enter Code, paste it, and restart the program when asked.
  3. Back up first: on Driver Backup, back up your current drivers, ideally as an EXE auto-installer saved to a USB drive.
  4. Update drivers: click Start Scan on Home, review the list on Driver Update, and click Update or Update All.
  5. Tune up: open System Optimize and pick SSD Speeder, System Booster or System Cleanup. Read each switch before applying "recommended" settings, and note where its Restore button is.

Before you buy

  • It's a subscription: $25.95 buys 1 year of the Platinum license (2 years cost $32.95), renewed through the vendor's License Code Renewal page.
  • Antivirus programs have flagged Driver Genius before: Microsoft Defender flagged version 21 in January 2021, which Microsoft confirmed as a false positive within hours. The vendor's FAQ explains how to whitelist the install folder if it happens again.
  • A license code starting with KX belongs to the old Avanquest-sold version and needs a different installer than the current PV codes.

Where it falls short

  • Driver detection isn't the best. Both TechRadar tests had Driver Genius finding fewer outdated drivers than rivals. In 2020, TechRadar wrote that IObit Driver Booster 8 "found 50% more missing drivers".
  • The Platinum tools are basic. TechRadar called System Cleanup "a basic temporary file remover that you can find in many free PC cleanup tools", and said System Booster is "a feature that you'll only ever run once".
  • Thin documentation for powerful switches. The user guide gives each Platinum tool a paragraph. TechRadar warned that since System Booster "can make sweeping changes to how Windows runs, there's a danger of doing something that you don't completely understand". The Restore buttons are the safety net.
  • The NVMe switch can backfire. The app itself says the native NVMe driver may leave some drives unrecognized.

What Users Say

Driver Genius has no Trustpilot, Capterra or G2 profile with reviews, so the opinions below come from independent tech sites. Two TechRadar reviews tested the Platinum edition itself. All of them reviewed older versions, so prices they mention are out of date (Platinum is now $25.95 a year).

TechRadar: Driver Genius 22 Platinum, 4.5 out of 5 (Stefan Ionescu, February 2022)

"Driver Genius 22 Platinum performs its primary task of managing your device drivers excellently. You can always know which drivers are outdated and update them with one click. It's a handy tool for whoever owns or manages a single computer or a group of devices."

On the hands-on test: "We tested it on a Windows 10 laptop and got good results. It found ten drivers needing updates, which we promptly actioned. It took just one click to update all the required drivers."

On the interface: "Driver Genius 22 is well-organized and free from clutter. It scores very high on user-friendliness."

The drawback: "Admittedly, it did have some drawbacks, such as not finding as many drivers compared to a competitor like Avast."

TechRadar: Driver Genius 20 Platinum, 3 out of 5 (Richard Sutherland, October 2020)

"Driver Genius 20 Platinum's Driver Update, Driver Backup, Driver Restore, and Driver Cleanup tools are functionally some of the best we've tested, with configurable options that make it ideal for power users."

"Driver Genius 20 Platinum has a professional, unassuming interface, foregoing the driver update software trend of garish pop-ups and fancy skins."

On the Platinum extras: "The System Booster tool aims to optimize your computer with optimized settings in the registry. It includes around 60 tweaks that aid performance, such as turning off Windows error reporting and speeding up DNS parsing." But also: "The System Booster tool included in the Platinum version of the product can make nifty changes to how your Windows installation runs, but it's an extra $10 per year for a feature that you'll only ever run once." (The gap between Pro and Platinum is now $6 a year.)

The verdict: "Driver Genius 20 Platinum has a few useful features, but it doesn't find as many outdated drivers as some of the competition." In that test it found 21 driver updates across two PCs, "which is below average".

Tech Advisor: Driver Genius 14 Professional (Simon Williams, March 2014)

"Avanquest Driver Genius 14 Professional does very much what it claims. It quickly scans you PC for out-of-date drivers and downloads and installs those that need replacing, taking the effort out of doing it manually, device by device."

On the test PC: "It spotted five drivers that needed attention, including those for the graphics adaptor, sound chip and ethernet adaptor." The catch: "The update process was more long-winded, with each of the drivers downloaded separately from the Driver Genius server and then installed on request."

Download.com staff review (October 2014, version 14)

"The Options dialog's Monitoring tab includes basic but welcome temperature monitoring and alerts for CPU, graphics cards, and hard drives."

The complaint: "Some of the drivers that Driver Genius flagged for updates were already up-to-date, including our chipset and graphics drivers."

The pattern across eight years of reviews: critics like the clean, ad-free window and rate the backup, restore and cleanup tools among the best. The steady complaint is detection, with Driver Genius finding fewer outdated drivers than the biggest rivals. On the Platinum extras, the one reviewer who weighed them found them useful but not worth much extra money, a point the current $6 gap softens.

Comparisons

Driver Genius Platinum vs Driver Genius Pro

The two editions have identical driver features. Platinum adds SSD Speeder, System Booster and System Cleanup for $6 more a year ($25.95 vs $19.95 for 1 year on 3 PCs). If you'd use even one of those three tools instead of a separate cleaner, Platinum is the better buy. If you only care about drivers, Pro is.

Driver Genius Platinum vs IObit Driver Booster Pro

Both are paid driver updaters with backup and restore. In TechRadar's 2020 test Driver Booster found more outdated drivers and also checks game components. Driver Genius answers with stronger backup options (the EXE auto-installer and offline network driver restore) and, in Platinum, its own SSD, tweak and cleanup tools.

Driver Genius Platinum vs Windows' own tools

Windows Update delivers many drivers, Optimize Drives sends TRIM to SSDs, and Storage Sense deletes temporary files, all for free. Platinum adds what Windows doesn't: driver backups you can restore offline, rollback for any driver, a scan against its own driver database, one place to switch off Windows 11 ads and suggestions, and an SSD power scheme.

FAQs

Can I upgrade from Driver Genius Pro to Platinum without reinstalling?

Driver Genius uses one installer for every edition, and the license code decides which features are turned on. Entering a Platinum code under Help, then Enter Code, switches the same installation to Platinum.

Is SSD Speeder safe for my SSD?

Driver Genius Platinum's SSD Speeder runs TRIM and changes Windows settings, which doesn't put your files at risk, and its Restore button undoes the settings. Two options deserve care: the Performance and Turbo power schemes raise the drive's power use and temperature, and the experimental native NVMe driver may leave some drives unrecognized, so back up before you try it.

Can I undo System Booster's changes?

Yes. Driver Genius Platinum's System Booster has a "Restore to Windows default settings" button, and since version 26 you can export your settings first so you can return to them later.

Can I use one Driver Genius Platinum license on three computers?

Yes. The $25.95 Driver Genius Platinum license covers 3 PCs for 1 year, and the 2-year license also covers 3 PCs.

Can I get a refund on Driver Genius Platinum?

Driver-Soft gives a 60-day money-back guarantee. Email a refund request to support@driver-soft.com within 60 days of purchase for a full refund, and uninstall the software afterward. Requests after 60 days aren't refunded.

What if I lose my Driver Genius license code?

Send your order ID to sales@driver-soft.com. If you've lost the order email too, send the name and email address you ordered with.

Does Driver Genius Platinum work on Windows 11 26H2?

Yes. Driver Genius 26 added Windows 11 26H2 support, and System Booster has a tab of Windows 11 settings.

Can I install Driver Genius silently on several PCs?

Yes. Driver Genius setup accepts /SILENT or /VERYSILENT, with /SUPPRESSMSGBOXES and /NORESTART, for an unattended install.

System Requirements

  • Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 8, 7 or Vista, 32-bit or 64-bit. The user guide also lists Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2008 R2 and 2012 R2.
  • Pentium class CPU
  • 256 MB RAM
  • 100 MB free disk space
  • Internet connection to download drivers (the offline driver update tool covers a PC without one)
  • SSD Speeder needs a solid-state drive, and the native NVMe driver option needs Windows 11

Conclusion

Driver Genius Platinum is worth $25.95 a year if you want one tool for drivers and a light Windows tune-up on up to three PCs. The reason to buy it is the combination: the strong driver backup and restore tools from Pro, plus SSD Speeder, System Booster and a driver-aware cleaner, each with an undo button, for just $6 more than Pro. The reason not to is that neither half is the best of its kind: rivals have found more outdated drivers in tests, and the tune-up tools are simpler than a dedicated PC cleaner. If you only need drivers, buy Pro. If you already own a cleaner, Platinum's extras are redundant. Try the free download first: driver updates work for 5 days, and the 60-day guarantee covers the rest.
