EASY GUN MUZZLE FLASH FX (effect) INWMM WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER

Here is an effective way to easily produce authentic looking gun muzzle flash effects (FX) for your movie making, without the need for fancy video editors or programs like After Effects. This method can be used with the most basic of editors and still produce impressive results. The method uses free photo-editing software called Paint.Net. It's an excellent program and totally free. You can download it from here:

Nita hello welcome to the media channel
i'm your host william you but I've been
getting a lot of emails recently for
people suggesting what i could do in the
future and most of these are physically
impossible and water them a downright
illegal but i've also been getting a lot
of emails about another subject but
usually they start like this
yo dude was a witch is American for
hello there matey and then go on to
explain they haven't got much equipment
and they edit on a very basic editor
windows movie maker usually and they say
is there anyway we can do a gunshot
effect
well I actually did a gunshot effect
tutorial on another channel way back in
the past but I've never actually done
more of the media channel so i thought
why not
yes let's do a gunshot tutorial Jesus
don't look down it once but now the
first thing you need to do is to film
your gun shot sequence
don't forget to mind the kickback of the
gun that fires because this will all
help to sell the effect to your audience
having got footage loaded up into your
video editor in this case windows movie
maker run the sequence up to the point
in the movie whether gun is fired and
pause it now using the shuttle buttons
find the point immediately before the
kickback reaction and there it is now
leaving the cursor where it is split the
clip into two and again without removing
the cursor take a screenshot and save it
to your desktop i'm saving mine here as
a jpeg pictures image now minimize your
video editor and fire up your photo
editing software
now here I'm using paint.net which is a
completely free program and if you would
like to download a copy yourself then i
put a link in the video description for
you to do so
okay now open your screenshot and zoom
it's like a larger to make working on
the gun a bit easier
we are now going to make a gun flare so
select a paintbrush tool and choose a
nice garden fairy type of the yellow is
your color and i'll probably bump up the
breast size to about five then just
paint your gun fire onto the end of your
gun that will come out this way so
little bit there now you don't have to
be Leonardo DaVinci to do this a rough
Larry shape will do and there we are
i'm also adding a bit of whites to make
the flare look a bit hotter in the
middle
now when you have a reasonable flare
painted choose the last few select tool
and use it to select the flare as well
as a bit of space around this
when your selection is complete go to
the effects tab and choose blurs and
from there select gaussian blur by using
the slider you can now make the flare
look nice and fuzzy that looks good now
we mustn't forget that the flare will
also light up its surroundings so
there's just one more adjustment to make
before we are finished
so having click anywhere on the picture
to deselect the flare select adjustments
and then brighton contrast and use the
slider there to bump up the brightness a
couple of notches in this case about 25
should do it and that's it you're done
here so save your altered frame and exit
the photo editor now maximize your video
editor again and import the frame you
have just altered now for the clever bit
grab your image and insert it between
the split you made in the video you are
effectively inserting an extra frame
into the movie it is of course far too
big so we need to reduce its size to one
single frame now to make this a bit
easier just zoom the timeline to maximum
then grab the right-hand edge of the
image and drag it down to the smaller
size that it will go to there you go if
you now run that section of the clip
you'll get the full effect of the doctor
frame in sequence and the addition of a
gunshot sound effect completes the
illusion
and it's a case of rinse and repeat for
each gunshot in your movie and now
here's the finished article but so there
you go a nice little video trick that
will allow you to shoot yourself
shooting yourself you see what they did
that shoot yourself well it's still very
wet still very windy
perhaps I should think about building an
ark it's all being well I'll see you
