Tiger tail seahorse and fried-egg nudi on Anemone Reef

Tiger tail seahorse and fried-egg nudi on Anemone Reef

It's another successful dive off the coast of Thailand for cameraman Stewart Whitfield who encounters a weird-looking hermit crab, a foraging pufferfish, an unusually bold seahorse and a striking nudibranch (named after its resemblance to fried eggs!).

Dive trips kindly sponsored by Raya Divers of Thailand- http://www.rayadivers.com

yeah
and I can grab me now after my trip to
pull away and the first dive today is on
an enemy wreath
it's one of Crabbie's best-known dive
sites
it's an enormous pinnacle that rises
from about 30 meters due within five
meters of the surface and it's covered
in all different kinds of an enemy's and
it's actually this reach that caused the
sinking of nearby King Cruz Rick
there's a large car ferry that ran into
the reef on route between PP and phuket
first quarter of the day is this guy
it's a kind of crab it's called a hermit
crab
it's a soft-shell crab and what they do
is move into any kind of abandoned shell
they can find
you'll find them in all different kinds
of shells and as they grow older and
larger they move from one cell to
another
this guy's already quite old is very
large
I film him a little bit later on in the
dive here
he's moved up a little bit shallower you
can see the Sun on him and still just
looking for things to eat you can seem
shoveling food frantically into his
mouth there
this is a black spot puffer fish and
like many fish when they concentrated on
feeding that is often the best time to
film them
he's normally very shy and very
difficult to film you can see here now
he's noticed me you had a good long look
at me and he's decided that probably he
might just move away
yeah
this is one of the many large gorgonian
sea fans that you find on the deeper
sections of an enemy wreath and as I
move in for a closer look at what's
inside
we come across this guy he is a tiger
tail seahorse these target i'll see
horses are reasonably common on the
reefs around krabi but they're very
difficult to film normally find them
just tucked away you can only see the
tail of the eye but this guy's right out
in the open
he's called a tiger tail seahorse
because they normally always have a
striped orange coloration on their tail
and you can see there where he's moving
the flaps on the top of his head
those were his goals are so it's
actually moving water across his skills
and the last thing I feel today is this
guy is a nudibranch and anyone familiar
with new banks will know that nudibranch
is latin for naked gills and you can see
the gills waving around there at the
rear of the body and those are the
antenna at the front and the common name
for this sky at least in Thailand is a
fried egg
nudibranch and I think I don't need to
explain why he's got that name
it's called an enemy reef
it's a beautiful dive site you get there
from either phuket crabby or koh pipi
yeah
ok

Bubble Tip Anemones - What you need to know
Bubble Tip Anemones - What you need to know

Discussing the various needs of this species of anemones should help you keep one (or more) healthy in your reef for many years to come. The original BTA was purchased back in 2002 and is with me to this day, and the original Rose BTA was acquired in 2007. I've seen all the fun things they do, including splitting, spawning, climbing everywhere - and of course hosting happy clownfish around the clock. Here are some links to previous BTA vidoes: Rose BTA spawning eggs: ...
