take one quarter of a sheet of
computer paper
and folded in half now it's not
difficult
draw
fly and if you practice you'll be able
to do it quite easily
first you're going to draw about one
half of the body
it's just a curved line at the top and
it comes down to a point now we're going
to do one of the top wings of the
butterfly
so start approximately here and we're
going to make the shape of a heart
so just anything that looks like a heart
- just the shape of a heart
and then we're going to tip it around
and we're going to draw another heart
but this time it's going to be long and
narrow and that's your butterfly wings
and we're going to cut that out
ok so now we're going to do some cutouts
on the way
start here and we're going to cut along
approximately a quarter of an inch on
the inside from our out side outline
like this
don't cut all the way to the fold
now we're going to start again on the
fold and we're going to do the same
thing we're going to cut inside of the
line that we just previously caught in
this section we don't want to cut to the
fold
we just want to cut right to wear this
one started so that we release this part
but as you can see we've still got the
center section we're going to do the
same thing on this side going to start
here at a little distance between these
two just to preserve the integrity and
we're going to cut all the way around
the outside edge
bring it
within the lines
again not going to the fold stop
approximately half an inch before the
fold at the end here where we reach the
end of the heart
we're going to go back up and we're
going to just a sort of a heart shape
like this and this one
we can go right cut it right out like
that
so now we're just going to trim a little
bit from this part so that we have
another opening so we're just going to
isolate this section we're going to
start over here and we're just going to
take off about all as an eighth of an
inch all along the outside edge
and we can cut that writing
place it down like this you said we have
our butterfly
folded piece of card
and I have my butterfly folded in half
again i'm going to place it on my card
style
I'm going to trace that the pattern
I don't usually do this I just do them
free form but i just want to give you a
pattern so you can do it yourself
so it's just lightly trace around it
doesn't have to be exact
just give yourself a guide to trace
around your butterfly and trace around
the openings
and just black off what you're going to
remove come over this one
we're going to remove this part we're
going to remove this part and you will
see that you have your butterfly marked
on here
so now we're going to cut that out
ok i cut out the outline of the
butterfly and now i'm just going to
progress and cut out piece inside
sections and if you cut so that you
removing all of your pencil lines and
you don't have to do any racing after if
you leave some pencil lines on that ok
you can erase those after so I've got
along there and i can see that i need to
remove this intersection so i'm going to
do that
come along the line and then this part
also way
so there's the bottom section back up to
the chalk cut along the line the more
you make up these the yes sooner you'll
just be able to spontaneous will make
them out a pattern like that
and we want to cut away the source
section
and cut it right out and now we're going
to cut out this section we're going to
take a line up there
yeah
and move you move your paper not your
scissors to get a good even cut
I've gone ahead and cut out to body
shapes on the pole and now i'm going to
show you how to put this together
I'm going to work over a piece of wax
paper so carefully open up the butterfly
and place it down on your surface
you still see the shape of the body you
can double check to make sure that your
body is going to cover and it does with
a toothpick and some white glue just
apply some white glue to the inside of
the body
now place the body on the top and just
smooth it down and you're going to allow
that to dry when you turn it over there
will be those little lines where we cut
through the body going to do the same
thing with a toothpick apply some white
glue
we're going to place that down and line
it up and allow that to dry
ok our butterflies dry and it's ready to
attach to our card was your brother fun
but it's touching the frame
hold it in position and lift up the
wings and apply a little bit of white
glue it touches on this side
come over to this side and place some
way through there and allow about to
drown and there's your finished
butterfly card
