windows 8 how to fix pdf viewer back to adobe reader

This is a pet peeve of mine with how Windows 8 handles PDF functionality. This is a quick and easy fix to install adobe reader and change it back to being similar to Windows 7. Feel free to post comments or questions below.

windows a really screwed-up PDF files
for those of you that are familiar with
adobe PDF or adobe is the most common
program used to handle PDF files if you
try to open a PDF file on your computer
it's going to open up a PDF app built
into windows they think they're fixing a
problem but they're actually causing a
problem
here's why because now i can't do
anything with this with this program
right
I can't do anything so i can just see
that's like a picture almost right now
to get rid of it I have to drag it down
and get out of the way a lot of times if
you're working from the desktop i want
to be able to open a PDF want to move it
aside I want to work on something else
you can do that takes you away from this
whole desktop experience to go into this
so i recommend highly is that we
download see this is used this after us
all PS is that we're going to download
adobe reader
ask me down here do you want to save a
run the file or go ahead and run it and
this is just a run the installer ok so
it's installing adobe reader just like
you did on windows 7
yes I'd like to install I trust this
source blah blah right so let's go into
the installer now once its installed
adobe reader we're going to switch the
default behavior of windows 8 to use
adobe reader for PS instead of this PDF
program that they included which in my
opinion totally is terrible that says
the installation was finished
installation complete and I now have
this adobe reader icon here that's tryna
saying it's and saw a good job so now
when I opened this text PDF file instead
of opening it if I just double click on
it again we get the windows built in PDF
Reader which is terrible so we go back
to this we're going to right-click on it
we're gonna open with adobe reader now
this is a one-time fix if i do this it's
going to open it with adobe reader
ok we're going to accept the terms
alright so you get it and you can
actually minimize this now like you
would normally expected to work and I'll
be down here on the taskbar for you to
pull up and work with this doesn't take
you away from your other work which is
why I think it's so much better than the
built-in PDF viewer that they have I
keep in mind that's just a temporary fix
alright because that is a temporary fix
I want always these files to always be
open with reader i'm going to right
click on this file I'm going to go to
open with choose default program from
there I'm going to say use Adobe Reader
there we go now it's change this to you
can see the PDF icon now so now i open
this file will always open it with PDF
with adobe PDF reader and any other PDF
files that i get will always open with
that now so if i want to change your
back right click open with can choose a
default program and i can switch it but
for now I'm going to keep it
I don't want to be on that I'm going to
keep it with adobe reader i recommend
you do the same
