now we're going to take a look at how to
download and install the adobe PDF
Reader software as you can see here on
the desktop
we have a PDF file and if i double click
on this PDF file we see the open with
dialogue box and this is because
Microsoft Windows doesn't know how to
work with this PDF file we have no
software installed that knows how to
read a PDF file we can try choosing
something from this list but it will
file
that's because we have to download the
adobe PDF software so i'm going to click
on cancel
so now to download and install this
software i'm going to come down and
click on my web browser internet
explorer in this case
next I come up and click up in the
address bar and type in adobe.com then
press ENTER and of course this takes us
to the adobe website i can click on the
download link at the top of the page
here or i can scroll down to the bottom
right hand corner and here we have the
download section so at the top of the
list we have adobe reader but we also
have some other free downloads as well
I'm just going to click on adobe reader
in this case we're now taking to the
download page
so here we can see that we're going to
download adobe reader x and it's about
52 megabyte in size would we also like
to download the free google toolbar and
I'm going to uncheck this because i
don't want to download and install it
i click on download now we're taking to
the download page and here we have some
instructions letting us know that if we
see this yellow box at the bottom of the
page click on run
so I'm going to come down to click on
run when they are running a security
scan and the download and the
installation now begins user account
control pops up and says are you really
sure you want to download and install
the software
and i'm going to click on yes
so now we start to download the software
the installation process has almost
completed so we have to wait for the
green tick over on the right-hand side
and here we have it
so now I just come down and click on
finish the software is now installed on
this computer
we can also download other applications
from this web page if we like in this
case I'm just going to close down
internet explorer
now we can see that we have an adobe
reader icon on the desktop but if i
click on our PDF file now we can see
that we have the PDF icon representing
this file as opposed to a blank sheet of
paper
so if i double click on this file now
before we use the adobe reader software
for the first time we get to see this
license agreement
so if you want to read through the
license agreement if you agree with all
of the terms and conditions then click
on accept and then now we can see the
content of their PDF file close down the
PDF Reader software
i'm also going to remove this icon from
the desktop
i'm going to click once on it to select
it in right click select delete
we don't need this icon on the desktop
at all so i have now removed it
so that's a quick look at how to
download and install the adobe reader
software
