reviews split document function gives
you a variety of options for breaking up
multi-page files and for renaming the
resulting pieces split document is
located in the command bar in the
document group under pages here we've
got a range of options for breaking
things down i can split the document by
page count and break things up into two
three four five or however many
different page groups as I want i can
split by file size and have review break
up my document in 25 megabytes chunks
this is useful when you need to email a
file to someone you're coming up against
a email file attachment size limitation
now if my file has bookmarks I can split
by top-level bookmarks as well before i
go any further let me explain what
top-level bookmarks are exactly
this document i have a series of
bookmarks pertaining to the various
sections of the document set top-level
bookmarks in this case would mean these
parent bookmarks and not their children
so in if i split this document by
top-level bookmarks I would have a files
for cover sheet landscape architectural
and structural but the individual
children bookmarks within would be
ignored the pages they relate to would
be included but the bookmark themselves
would be ignored in the breakdown
ok so let's go ahead and break this
document up
it's important to note that split
document will alter the original file
under output options you can choose the
file path for saving the new discrete
pieces i've also got a range of options
for how I name these new discrete pieces
i can use the bookmark names which in
this case might be pretty helpful or i
can add a prefix or suffix to the
existing original file name here for
example if I made my suffix part dash
number my resulting name is going to be
the original file name followed by part
and then 1 2 3 4 5 and so on
i'm going to go ahead and name these
after the corresponding bookmark names
because in this case I'm gonna be
sending each piece off to the respective
structural mechanical electrical groups
anyway so it'll save me some time I can
also choose my page range or even set up
a batch project to split up multiple
documents at once once I've executed the
resulting files will be in the folder i
specified ready to go
