How To Frame A Sports Jersey

How To Frame A Sports Jersey

Master Picture Framer, Vivian Kistler, shows you several ways to frame a sports jersey. Including a baseball and a baseball hat.

are you interested in framing a jersey
i'm going to show you how the
professionals do it
I'm Vivian kistler i'm a master
certified picture framer in the United
States and a guild commanded framer
advanced in textiles in the UK so i'm
going to show you this Jersey there's
two options here one is the Jersey would
be open flat and so on to the backing
board or it could be put into this
locker so first we'll do the open flat
routine here
what you're going to need is a piece of
matte board that you're going to cut to
the size of the interior of the shirt
and you'll need a needle and thread
i'm going to use blue because obviously
we're working with blue here and there
would be a good cotton thread a
quilter's thread would be really nice
because it's pretty strong
now the decision is do we frame the
front
our order to frame the back so we'll put
this in because we're going to frame the
back
it's got the name on it oh I wanted to
show you this before i put this in here
there are two holes here and I made
those with pushpins
we all around give yourself a nice and
that's going to be so that you can take
the needle and thread and go up through
it and back down and even if you're
using the plastic
what do you call those things so slow
plastic nylon things that you shoot in
with a gun
so if you do that would be the same
thing and you're still going to need to
make a hole because if you don't you're
going to break the gun because it's
going to be the needle is going to be
the thing that's pushing through the map
board
you're going to have a background
probably of fabric because that's really
what looks best when you're framing
fabric so don't just use plain old mat
board and of course you're going to use
a good map board to put inside here
all right i got this shape in here and
they good enough section and so if i was
doing the front i would have to cut this
out obviously but I'm going to do the
back flip it over here because it's got
the number of the player on it and
that's important and then i'm going to
use this cubbies little insignia going
to fold that over
so whatever
shape you end up with that's what you're
going to cut that cardboard -
and then you're going to sew through it
you're going to take your needle and
thread and you're going to come from the
back your mat back Matt bored and you're
going to come up into the jersey and
then into the mat board where you poke
the holes already
and then you can either turn around
there or you can go all the way through
it depends on the way to the jersey if I
have a hockey jersey i will probably go
all the way through and come back again
but if this is a baseball jersey it's
pretty lightweight so i probably won't
now our next choice is to take this up
here
excuse me and we're going to put it in
this locker
now this is a locker that can be made by
a professional framer
it's a stacked molding and the moldings
are have a door on it
so this one has a set of hinges on it
that are called barrel hinges get this
they got a whiteboard out of here all
right
and you can see this is a locker and I
learned to make this and went to a trade
show on a guy had made a real full size
one so I didn't want to make a full
sized one but I make these all the time
now and of course you can build them in
the colors of the team or whatever you'd
like but it's got a shelf on it and the
hat is just sitting here doesn't have to
be sewn down and the baseball is sitting
in a plastic holder on the shelf and
this cubby shirt and back there are some
tickets that are mounted with photo
corners
now normally i would put something on
top of this on those two little things I
had some pads there and I seem to have
dropped them in the meantime
but I put a little pat on that hook
because you don't want the weight of the
jersey although this doesn't weigh very
much so
you know however you hang out in here so
that it looks nice but you know what the
guys watching a game you can open up his
little Locker here take the shirt out
and wear it while they're playing both
of these items are offered by
professional picture framers and you may
try to give it a go yourself
but i'd suggest you stay away from the
hair method where they actually sell a
box and
it has a hanger in it because it looks
like a hanger and if you hang your
clothes up you know what happens it kind
of pulls down like this so i hope you
enjoyed this is vivian Kessler

Crop Sensors vs Full Frame :: Crop Or Crap?
Crop Sensors vs Full Frame :: Crop Or Crap?

Let's get a few things out of the way :: I have said, in the past, that you should move toward full frame sensors. I have always championed full frame sensors. At the end of the day, full frame sensors beat APS sized and smaller sensors. The whole reason I bought an original x100 was because it had the largest sensor I could find in a small camera. It had been a number of years since I had shot an APS crop frame sensor. The last APS camera I shot professionally was ...
