we're gonna answer some email questions
so this is a multi-part series the 72
little chunks so you guys can select
what you want to watch I'm gonna talk
about the light stick that I use and how
I set it up and talk about HSS with the
TGA fifties must get to talk about it
with the flashpoint are all six hundred
be over here and I'm gonna use a 6,000
to show you that I'm not gonna go in
depth on on you know crazy settings
because in the field
things change a lot but I will kind of
show you what to shut off your camera
and what you don't want to use when
you're using a chess says with the Sony
system with the Opus triggers so I wanna
talk about the adapters are used to get
it to work awesome so first question now
is about their beauty dish and I'm just
gonna answer it really quickly I used a
16 inch beauty dish instead of with 22
inch beauty is dish the reason why is
because it's more portable the light
difference from 22 inch to a 16 inch is
not that different it's so marginal to
me this is a little bit more of a kind
of harsher lame but in the wind it's
better than an umbrella and it's better
than like a 24 inch soft box and and so
forth and so in the weather is great and
I live in Tacoma over and University
Place and it rains quite a bit here over
the pacific northwest so I use this all
the time and I usually what I do is over
the flashpoint are all six hundred be I
take a little many trash bag for your
bathroom and I could put it over the top
in a teapot around this ring right here
on the
on the beauty dish itself so I can use
it
the weather and not get my flash whether
the two bands that wet now a lot of
people have talked about 5% and and you
know how are you sure it works no you're
not doing hyper think you're doing a
super senior it only works for use it at
full power I can get the camera does
seem faster and really the question the
thing is this with a six thousand I can
get it sink to 200 sometimes depending
on the mood of the wireless trigger in
the flash but really sunny recommends
that you should at 168th of a second for
this camera but you can get it to work
this is without hyper syncing with hyper
sinking you can get up to twenty
thousands of a second how that is done
is I'm using the openness for Sony
transceiver
the transceiver and it does everything
that you need now you're gonna need to
add these to make it work so and how I
have it setup is this ok I have the Sony
Minolta the old men don't amount to the
Sony modern interface shoe mount now
I'll put this in the description below
with the actual model is it's it's
actually it's the ADP
so that's the model number and what i do
to see opus is still use the Minolta
mount as I just put that on and I lock
it and it just stays on there and I put
it with the case so this is going to go
on top your camera ok now I wanna stay
some things about this is that make sure
it's fairly tight now you're gonna want
to turn on the trigger first and then
turn on your camera
ok that way the camera can see it
sometimes the camera does not see it and
you need to reset or basically turn off
the trigger and turn it back on
sometimes now basically I go in and make
sure that my flash mode is on wireless
so you gonna make sure that your flash
mode is on wireless or this is not know
where this goes with any trigger system
with Sony and usually most cameras are
so now that we have that setup ok what I
do is on the titi 850 ok I have another
adapter and this is the H as a see as C
span by fellow ok now I put this on the
top here the transceiver and then I put
that ok on top of this turn it on so
this would go on your tripod and be
mounted like that just like any other
standard receiver or TTL system ok so
you just put it on your pool now inside
your camera or sorry inside your flash
right you're gonna turn that on
and you're gonna want to hold down the
EHS as but just hold down and have an
age with a little arrow pointing down a
little kind of thunder strike arrow ok
now we're in hyper sync mode ok so now
if I go to one-fourth power and I let's
say turning on here and make sure that
triggers turned on
make sure we're receiving make sure this
one is transmitting now we have a choice
says and if I bring up my shutter speed
214 thousands of a second take a shot I
i get flash so this is how it works ok
you got the opus for Sony transceiver
with the Sony Minolta tumulty energy
interface adapter that goes on top of
the camera and then you have the opus
for Sony transceiver with the Minolta to
standard interface shoe standard shoe
adapter ok which is more of like what
Canon and Nikon use now doesn't mean
that you can use your standard Nikon and
Canon flashes with this in a sense and
get hyper think I'm not really sure on
that I haven't tried it so I don't know
and that's just something I can't answer
so yeah that's how it works and it works
great so yeah thats HSS
that's how I get it to work in the Sony
a 72 you want to make sure that the
electronic shutter is off you want it
just like the old school way shooting
because you'll get a little lines coming
down as you'll actually see the HSS
flutter of the flash is how HSS works is
this flash is basically strobing
thousands of a time of second
so when the shutter comes down the light
is going inside of the sensor as the
shutters coming down each time that's
how he just as works so you need to turn
off the electronic shutter or you have
these lines coming across you will see
him in the shadows more than anything
you will not see him and highlights I
made this mistake many times and even in
weddings but you just gotta gotta make
sure you shut that off and the Sony a
6000 same thing so you have to look in
your manual can you may find that
because you are so convoluted in the
Sony's so that's HSS now you could also
alright you could take a jack and jack
into you're seeing here and then jacket
into the sink of this as well you're
going to have to get a 3.5 millimeter to
a smaller I think it's a 2.5 Jack to go
into the TGA 50 for that to work I think
the easiest way is to just put it on
like this and and just have a hanging
there like that so that works great now
you could do this to you could take your
trigger ok cuz you can still use your
trigger and bring up the power up and
down for the TGA 59 you could put the
trigger right here and have this trigger
talk to this trigger which tells this
triggered to turn this trigger on now
you can actually gained distance with
that so you can have this trigger gonna
sit on the ground in between your
subject if you're doing something really
far away and you could actually in a
sense you know rebound kind of a used
this triggers a booster to boost the
signal for this you could do that but
this is another way you can do it is
basically will turn this on and put this
on Channel a make sure that this is on
channel a and we're sorry group A and
make this year this is a general one
so now we're talking to this with the
flash and if I turn this on me when we
got there we go and I'm actually getting
exposure and everything is clean so I'm
sure one for thousands of a second at
ISO 800 or whatever I can go down to two
or one hundred doesn't matter and there
we go
getting exposure so you can do that I'm
just letting you know that you can hop
from this receiver to this receiver to
this receiver to that receiver and and
make it work so thats HSS and this works
the same way with a 72 there's no
difference it's the same gig so yes the
Opus triggers for sending our they're
cheap too and you don't have to spend a
lot and they're they're pretty good I'm
pretty happy with with them so cool so
