I'm obsessed with this craft and I think you will be too! Try it out and let me know how it goes. =) Subscribe for DIY every Friday! http://bit.ly/sub2moms
Supplies:
~Wood surface
~Photo (from laser printer, printed on regular paper)
*you can get a laser color copy of any photo made at FedEx office or any office supply store for @ .$50
~Liquitex gloss gel medium
~Paint brush
~ Ruler or straight edge to remove any air bubbles
~Old rag and water to remove paper at the end
~Mod Podge (antique or matte finish are the most popular for this project)
~Any embellishments you want to add to personalize
Tips:
1. Use regular paper, NOT photo paper printed from a laser printer or copier.
2. You can rinse the wood under the faucet to help remove the last traces of the paper.
3. Wipe down the wood with furniture polish (old English) to make sure the surface is completely clean before applying the sealer (mod podge).
4. Use the back side of the wood if you mess up instead of starting with a new piece.

hi guys so today we're going to be doing
a photo transfer on the wood
this is my absolute favorite DIY right
now yeah like it it makes a beautiful
decoration for your home and it also
makes a brilliant personalized get I'm
broken I'm passionate about creating
beautiful things for my family on a
budget
so here's what we're going to need to
get started your photo printed out on a
laser printer would surface you want to
put the photo on gel medium a paintbrush
a mod podge finish and any embellishment
that you want to add onto the wood
alright so let's get started first we're
going to take our gel medium in our
photo and just paint a nice thick layer
what this does is allows the color to
transfer from your photo onto the wood
i'm using a gel medium called liquitex
and they make a gloss finish
I tried it with a gloss and matte and I
strongly preferred the gloss finish
so once you have your photo coated with
your gel medium you're going to want to
really carefully apply it the wood and
for this I want to gently set it down
where you want it
i'm just using this anything with the
Straight Edge you're going to want to
kind of start from the center and just
get all the air bubbles out be careful
not to scratch the paper
this is perfect so now we're ready to
let it dry
make sure you let it sit overnight
because it really needs a good 12 hours
for the color to fully adhere to the
wood and the jail to dry so for the sake
of time this is one that I prepared
yesterday and we are going to take the
paper off now and i'm super excited /
nervous to see how it turned out for
this you're gonna need a wet rag & get
it
you're not going to get the paper pretty
wet do it around motion you'll start to
see your photo actually coming through
and don't worry if your first one
doesn't turn out perfectly it took me a
few times to get it right
oh sorry honey once you get the feel of
it it's super easy and if you do happen
to scratch your image a little bit don't
freak out because it actually looks
really cool if it has a little bit of a
distress your vintage look
you really want to make sure that your
service is completely completely smooth
before you seal it with your mom dodge
all right that looks perfect
now we're ready for our mod podge to see
all the color and now normally for this
DIY i use an antique finish Mod Podge
are several different finishes that they
make but for this actual picture
i'm using the lost one so you really
just need one
nice layer and a couple hours to let it
dry for the photo transfers dry and it
looks fabulous
you could be done here but i actually
like to add a little embellishment to
make it more personal and a little bit
more special
so I'm gonna add this little wooden and
to the upper left hand corner you can
get all sorts of embellishments at your
local craft store i think these are all
under two dollars that wooden words
letters anything you can think of it
just adds a nice personal touch to this
project
alright guys so i hope you liked this
project as much as i do I mean aren't
these so fun and I'm always looking for
new ideas so please tell me in the
comments below what your favorite DIY
czar and i'll see you next week bye
mommy just Lincoln all thing
yeah good boy
