How to Transfer data from one Android Device to Another

hello youtube and welcome back to
another video in today's video I wanted
to give you a sort of a rough guide or a
reference guide to transferring data
when moving phone
and what I mean by that is say for
example you bought yourself a new phone
you have a load of save games and you
have a lot of settings that you have
taken you know a lot of time to set up
and you know text messages say over a
thousand text message in yo on your old
phone and you want to move them or two
new phone or few if somebody likes to
flash custom roms and you want to sort
of transfer all the data over onto the
new rom and this is sort of a guide to
show you how to do that and make sure
you go get away with minimal loss of
data so the first thing I like to do is
my text messages
my call logs on my system settings to be
backed up and then what i mean by system
settings is your Wi-Fi passwords
you're even your wallpaper all those
kinds of things and there's an app
called g-cloud that i use and the mood
to see me swipe in i have done a video
which is down below
indle in the description where I talk
about my home screen setup so this app
is called swaps
go ahead check it out but also look at
my am the video i've just done recently
about my home screen setup if you're
interested in any of this so go ahead
check it out down below but I'm the apps
called g-cloud to sort of not deviate
from the topic too much and them what
this app does is it allows you to back
up your text messages your call logs all
those kind of things to just it just
tells you you're so the standard
settings here and to back up your call
or text message all that kind of stuff
to the cloud
so you never lose them and you can also
have an automated backup backup service
and all that kind of stuff so you can
you see this is your dashboard it tells
you how much storage you have so many
changes them in here and so you can see
the storage hundred 60 megabytes use of
one gigabyte so these are all my text
message or that kind of stuff and then
tell you when your next backup Brown is
how many pending and how many backed up
and all that kind of stuff and you can
go into data and date actually allows
you to choose what you want to be backed
up so for example you want to backup
your contacts are to backup my contacts
because they're all on google+
so I sort of google contacts so they're
all sing so i don't really bother with
backing out what's a my call log I liked
that to be backed up also my messages
you can see it as 1659
text messages that don't really want to
be losing them so messages are going to
be backed up here as well
you have photos videos music document
system settings and browser data I have
this all ticked off the act because i
actually use independent apps for this
like Dropbox and stuff like that but
I'll get to that in a minute
I just have system settings turned on
which are my Wi-Fi passwords and all
that kind of stuff and he can use your
photos your videos all that kind of
stuff but I'm you you're gonna run out
of space pretty quickly if you have a
lot of stuff because you can see here my
videos are one gigabyte I more photos a
fun dream Meg but i only have one
gigabyte of data so to sort of get more
storage you'd have to actually purchase
more data well as a free way of doing
this are currently just back up Mike
back up my call log my text messages and
my system settings and once this is done
i press done all that kind of stuff and
then i'll go into the settings
there's my backup schedule you can see
at any time so say I want to set it at
three in the morning or 3 30 which is
probably the the least time you'll be
using your phone unless you work nights
and you want it every one day so you can
set that up press ok and it will back it
up no matter what if i just plugged in
or not so you always have that peace of
mind if you find those go all does break
all that kind of stuff
this is the the set their load is
setting so you can play around with this
but this is the sort of main set up by
half
so g-cloud for text messages and all and
call log and system settings because
it's sometimes a pain in the arse when
you have a new route and it's got a huge
long wpa password then I'm it's just
easier to to back it up and then restore
and it sort of goes back directly so
don't even need to bother connected to
your Wi-Fi network then the next thing I
like to do is because i have
painstakingly sets of my nova launcher I
like to back that up and you can see
here an overlarge actually has this
setting built in this is back up and
import and you can back up and also
tells your file location so it says its
SD card data comm . test look Cal
whatever it's called launcher for that
back up and if you click backup you can
rename it I just tend to leave it date
because i know it's the latest one and
them you can back it up and then the
next thing I would do is go into a file
explorer
so in my case file manager and I try and
find the
where it's backed up so its data you can
see , launcher whatever back up and then
there is the latest backup which is this
one here and you can actually upload
this to say drop box if you know where
it is I just wanted to show you this
using file explorer and our file
explorer as allies directly upload to
dropbox but if you for example of
dropbox install you can upload this and
will keep your settings backed up if
this is how you like your home screen to
look like you can always change there
are multiple fire managers available
that way
what that actually uploaded
automatically if there's a change in
your settings for example the app
changes or the the file changes will
automatically upload in this one I just
wanted to show you this is a basic file
explorer here but there are multiple
that are actually available with
automatic backup
uploads to dropbox all you know your
cloud storage of choice but I'm dropbox
or something i like to use
so here is the backup you can see here
this is the latest 177 1534 so it's so
short a time and the date it was backed
up so I'm that's where the nova launcher
backup is and then so should you get a
new phone you just import this
you saw there was a setting in these in
the nova launcher settings that you can
just import the backup and your phone
will look exactly the way you had it
here then i mentioned earlier about
photos
backing up photos and i tend to use
dropbox to have an automatic upload and
then i'm just going to show you that now
so you can see here this is in the
settings and you can have a camera
upload and you can actually save your
fault
photos automatically get an extra 500
megabytes for first upload and you can
click Next and you can choose what they
want on Wi-Fi only all data plan as well
and then upload existing photos and
videos are kind of it turned off because
I actually back this up on my foot on my
computer but I'm a neat way of having a
way to store your photos all and drop
box plus the added benefit is if you for
example I don't want to show a photo to
somebody and you haven't got your phone
you can just log onto dropbox and find
the pictures but this is the way I like
I save all my photos and videos online
and . box gives you a little bit more
space as well which is something i like
because you have you don't just have the
one gigabyte you get five gigabytes and
then you have one of those promotional
packs
that they used to do with that Samsung
phones i think of , but which they did
it with but you might have to get up to
twenty five gigabytes of storage free
and that's plenty of space to upload
your photos and videos and then the last
step i use is something I used because
i'm rooted if you're not rooted this app
might not be handy to you but is this
called titanium backup and the reason i
like titanium backup as well is because
say you were playing a game on plane
real racing 3 now and I've got a huge
amount of coins huge amount of gold
coins huge amount of money cars all that
kind of stuff and you want to save this
back up
titanium backup actually allows you to
back hold us up so you can see here
backup all user apps see if we can zoom
in a little bit they go because it's
back up all user apps you can backup all
your apps up or selected up depending on
what you want and the beauty about
titanium backup is you can either make
it a zip file so safe you're flashing
custom roms and then you reboot your
system set it all up and then you go
back into recovery can actually flash
the apps back but you have to set this
all up in the same as when you sign up
titanium backup or you can if your
internet fast enough if you're going to
preferences can actually have clouds
settings so you can for example sets
titanium backup to backup once a day and
then you can have it uploaded and their
to upload it to dropbox for example or
box.net all Google Drive
so something really nice that this has
been included you can see the drop box
features something I would be probably
using five fast enough internet is just
to back that up every day and this won't
back up all the latest apps
it will only backup sorry all the latest
started one backup all apps that you
have on your phone
so once it's up if the first time you
set this up it will back up every single
app so I've got a hundred apps will take
a while but I'm safe to just install one
app every couple of days you'll earn it
back up that one app and the other ones
will all of course already be there and
then you just make sure you and I say it
up they back it all up completely so
your saved games and stuff all stored
but this will all store it so then when
you come to get a new phone and rooted
and then use titanium backup to restore
actually restore from the cloud if you
have fast enough internet if you have
slow internet he might take a little bit
but you know that's why use titanium
backup as well because it has dropbox
and box on that
google drive features built in but that
really concludes the video and now this
