hello my name is Elam on the author of
google drive and docs in 30 minutes
available from in 30 minutes calm today
can be talking about how to convert a
PDF into a google docs file and the
reason why you'd want to do this is if
you want an easy way to edit the text
that you extract from a PDF and
otherwise it's kind of hard and there's
a manual process involved for doing it
but google drive and the word processor
that comes with Google Drive which is
called google docs it makes it pretty
easy and this is how you do it it's a
couple steps but once you do it it's
very easy to get access to the text and
start editing or manipulating or
whatever so let's get to it
go to Google Drive log on and then that
I've selected a folder where I'm going
to be doing this work so once you're in
the folder you want just click upload
files
what this means is it's going to upload
a file that's on your hard drive and
then turn it into something into a
google docs file so the file that i'm
looking for is called case questions
that could find that case questions
marketing that's the one and one thing i
should say about this PDF is it's mostly
it's a text one so it's been uploaded
very quickly so here it is in Google
Drive now it's still a PDF i can't edit
it and it's going to open it up and give
me a preview so this is what it is this
is an old homework paper and as you can
see it's basically it's a nine page
document there's some questions on there
there's some links giving some other
information asking about strategic plan
blah blah blah and if i wanted to get
the text out of here
you know I could copy and paste it over
but there'll be all kinds of formatting
issues but i'd rather do is actually
just get a google docs version of it
that I can manipulate it right in google
drive so here's what it looks like the
PDF
ok I think you've got the idea there now
I want to convert it to google docs this
is how select the checkbox next to it go
to more open with google docs so it's
going to take a little bit as converting
you can see the little spinner going but
after a couple seconds it will open up
as a google docs file
and the great thing about this is it
means you can start to make changes to
it so here we are still opening up
okay so here's the file and what it does
is it converts the pd it takes the PDF
it turns the pages into image files so
there's the original image file but then
below it
scroll down here's the text who and what
this means is i can take this text I can
delete it i can add something else you
know
here are my notes and there's other ways
you can manipulate you could add it i
can add an image i could easily copy and
paste it and email it to somebody I
could convert it into something else
through google drive's many download
function so microsoft word document etc
so this is a very easy and convenient
way to take a PDF and converted into
something that you can manipulate in
Google Docs or export to Microsoft Word
or other formats for more information on
